Question of the Day: Hey so you probably know the apricot seed controversy. I was just wondering about the B17/amygdalin thing, containing 2 glucose molecules, benha#$%#$%, and cyanide or something like that. So some claim you will detox the cyanide, others say you will get poisoned and die, and then others say that the 4 molecules when bonded together cause no harm and causes the cyanide to be neutral like cyanate or something…It’s all very confusing. Could you please explain if it’s safe to crack open the apricot kernel and eat the seed? What’s the difference between sweet and bitter apricot? I’ve been eating the sweet seeds? Is that ok? How many can you eat? Thanks so much! Btw I’m not worried about the cancer issue and apricot seeds right now, just the safety on the seeds and their toxicity. ~ Brandon
