So if Zika is the definitive cause of the birth defect microcephaly that has been throwing the world into a frenzy, how is it that the virus can infect only one twin in utero? Scientists are struggling to unravel the mysteries of a Zika epidemic in Brazil hope they can learn from cases of women giving birth to twins in which only one child is affected by the microcephaly birth defect associated with the virus.
A Zika vaccination is likely in your future, and in the futures of your children and grandchildren. Once the virus reaches the US, it will become a permanent, low-level threat, like the West Nile virus, according to researchers at this week’s annual meeting of the Global Virus Network in Atlanta, per National Geographic. Some are saying a vaccine for the virus will be as routine as rubella – but it isn’t yet, and that means we can do something about it. There have been several government moves that seem like for-gone conclusions in the last decade, but with loud enough voices, the people have been able to hold out and give themselves options. Examples? Organic food labeling. We may not be there yet with GMO lables, but we can label when it’s not! Donald Trump? The media wants him gone, if ABC, NBC, and FOX had their way, he would be on a small farm in Canada never to be heard from again. But he hasn’t gone anywhere. People, our voices can still be heard, this is still the free-est country in the world, although that freedom is under attack. So do some research, stay alert, and let’s decide for ourselves, and help others, tell the government what we need and what we don’t.
One of the potential side effects listed for the antipsychotic Abilify and its generics is an uncontrollable urge to gamble. But the FDA is now saying that does not nearly encompass the uncontrolled impulses the drug can inflame. And so it is now warning about pathological urges to binge eat, shop or have sex. Interestingly, these are all ways that people already cope with depression without medication!
It turns out that the saying “cry me a river” suggests a task that couldn’t be accomplished even if everyone on the planet worked together to accomplish it.
HOUR 2 – Special Guest, Ian Clark of Activation Products! (amazing story of healing, click name for link)
Glyphosate found to accelerate growth of human breast cancer cells, even at ridiculously low concentrations. Well that is scary! We keep finding more and more ways the glyphosate is negatively affecting our health, and more and more places that it is found for us to ingest. Again, just a reminder, glyphosate is the main ingredient in most pesticides, that is why it is important to wash produce thoroughly, look for organic options, (that means, grown without chemicals fertilizer and pesticides), or grow your own! It only takes a few feet of lawn to grown enough for your family salads. Worth a try!
Now, a new population-level research in Australian quantified just how much sleep working Aussie parents are missing out on, compared to their colleagues without children. The results of the survey indicated that fathers of young kids are missing out on 1 to 4 hours of sleep each week, while mothers of young kids are missing out on 3 to 9 hours of sleep each week. Hmmm, why is that?
Short sleep duration combined with frequent snoring reported prior to cancer diagnosis may influence subsequent breast cancer survival, says a study. One potential mechanism underlying this relationship is the adverse effect of poor sleep on inflammatory pathways, which may be a contributing factor in the development and progression of cancer, the researchers said. The study found that women who typically slept less than the recommended 7 hours of sleep per night and were frequent snorers in the years before their cancer diagnosis experienced a poorer cancer prognosis.”We were surprised to see that snoring, especially in combination with short sleep duration, had such a strong association with cancer survival for certain cancer types,” said lead study author.
Inflammation and pain management with magnesium? Read and listen in to understand how magnesium works with chronic pain, inflammation, and stress. You might be able to do your body a huge favor!
Clinical experience, as well as research in nerve pain conditions such as pancreatic cancer, has shown that magnesium can be an effective treatment for pain. Although it is clear why magnesium can decrease muscle pain (it makes muscles relax), why it would help nerve pain was less clear. A new study on rats to be printed in The Journal of Physiology confirms our clinical experience that magnesium decreases nerve pain — while also pointing to how it works.
Here’s something you probably hoped you’d never hear, the Australian government is giving carp herpes. Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Barnaby Joyce said the carps’ ability to reproduce en masse made them the “rabbits of our waterways.” The strain of herpes is set to be released in 2018 so the government can plan for the virus’ impact. The program will cost $15 million, most of which will go to getting rid of the dead fish. It seems dangerous, unsanitary, expensive, and a waste. Does the carp not have natural predators anymore? Are they not edible for those who need food? Per usual, government solutions are often expensive for tax-payers, and short-sighted for the over-all well being of the nation, while only “fixing” one specific issue of them moment. $15 million would go a long way to feeding the poor in Africa that everyone is always saying we don’t have the resources for…just saying.
