Monsanto must pay couple $2bn in largest verdict yet over cancer claims A California jury has ordered Monsanto to pay more than $2bn to a couple that got cancer after using its weedkiller, marking the third and largest verdict against the company over Roundup. A jury in Oakland ruled on Monday that Monsanto, now owned by the German pharmaceutical corporation Bayer, was liable for the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) cancer of Alva and Alberta Pilliod. The jury ordered the company to pay $1bn in damages to each of them, and more than $55m total in compensatory damages. The victory for the Pilliods follows two consecutive trial wins for families taking on Monsanto over Roundup, the world’s most widely used weedkiller, which research has linked to NHL, a cancer that affects the immune system. Dewayne Johnson, a former school groundskeeper with terminal cancer, won a $289m victory in state court last year, and Edwin Hardeman, who sprayed Roundup on his properties, was awarded $80m in the first federaltrial this year. The latest verdict is the largest by far and will increase pressure on Bayer, which has suffered share price drops in the wake of the verdicts and is now facing similar lawsuits from thousands of cancer patients, survivors and families who lost loved ones to NHL.
It’s in the weeds: Herbicide linked to human liver disease Glyphosate, the primary ingredient in Monsanto’s popular weed killer Roundup, has been linked to liver disease in animal models. In a new study, the first of its kind, researchers at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine report an association between the herbicide and negative effects upon the human liver. In a study published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, a team led by Paul J. Mills, Ph.D., professor and chief in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health at UC San Diego School of Medicine, examined glyphosate excretion in the urine samples of two patient groups—those with a diagnosis of NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, a type of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or NAFLD), and those without. The results, they found, were significant: Regardless of age, race, body mass index (BMI), ethnicity or diabetes status, glyphosate residue was significantly higher in patients with NASH than it was in patients with a healthier liver. The findings, coupled with prior animal studies, said Mills, suggest a link between the use of commercial glyphosate in our food supply, which has increased significantly over the past 25 years, and the prevalence of NAFLD in the United States, which too has been on the rise for two decades.
Questions of The Day!

Hello again!!! Hey, I found some silicium (bio-activated) (I’m in Quebec, Canada, so the brands you propose are not so available here!). It says on the label:
Silicium (from nettle) 10.2mg /15ml
zinc gluconate 1mg/15ml
The recommanded dosage is one tbsp /day. I don’t know silicium well, is that enough for maintenance of conjonctive tissues?
(I’m 45, I’d say in good health generaly, been vaccinated in my childhood, late 70’s, on homeopathy since my 14th years, homeopath myself since 2006).
Any warning for cupper (it says that consumption of zinc can deplete cupper)??
What else can solicium help? Did’nt I’ve heard that it could chelate aluminium?? Or I was only dreaming of that??!!!
It’s time for our CBD/Allergy Remedy Giveaway! Who will win?
Eat well, exercise more: New global guidelines to reduce risk of dementia There’s no effective treatment for dementia, which affects 50 million people worldwide, but the World Health Organization says there’s much can be done to delay or slow the onset and progression of the disease. In guidelines released Tuesday, WHO issued its first recommendations to reduce the risk of dementia globally. They include regular physical exercise, not using tobacco, drinking less alcohol, maintaining healthy blood pressure and eating a healthy diet — particularly a Mediterranean one. The international health body also warned against taking dietary supplements such as vitamins B and E in an effort to combat cognitive decline and dementia. “While some people are unlucky and inherit a combination of genes that makes it highly likely they will develop dementia, many people have the opportunity to substantially reduce their risk by living a healthy lifestyle,” professor Tara Spires-Jones, UK Dementia Research Institute program lead and deputy director of the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, told the Science Media Center.
Breaking News: In Salem, Democrats Will Scrap Controversial Vaccine Bill to Appease Republicans In a dramatic turn of events, Senate Democrats agreed Monday to kill a mandatory school vaccination bill that would have given Oregon some of the country’s strictest child vaccination laws. Democrats agreed to scuttle House Bill 3063 as part of a deal to bring Republicans back to the Capitol, several Democrats in the Senate and House confirmed to The Lund Report on Monday, a week after Republicans fled Salem to deny Democrats a quorum in protest of a $2 billion tax package for schools. The deal, which would also shelve a series of firearm regulations, was first reported by Willamette Week. It marks a sudden and stunning end to House Bill 3063, which would have removed non-medical exemptions for children to attend public and private schools, or licensed daycare facilities. A vast majority of health care practitioners lauded HB 3063 as a common sense public health measure, given recent large measles outbreaks in Clark County and across the country that have been attributed to a rise in unfounded skepticism about vaccines’ effectiveness and side effects. The bill would have reversed the state’s long-standing practice of exempting children whose parents have religious or philosophical objections to vaccines, requiring school-aged children to be vaccinated against measles and other preventable diseases like mumps, rubella, polio and tetanus.
RFK. Jr.: “Late yesterday, Oregon advocates killed mandates in Salem. Yes People! Oregon’s Vaccine bill is DEAD! The reason the bill died is because Republican Senators stood up for our most fundamental civil rights. Plus, our community mounted the most intensive and well organized grassroots lobbying campaign in Oregon history. Special thanks to my heroes Sarah Bacon and JB Handley and all the noble warriors at Oregonians For Medical Freedom who won this hard earned victory for our children. We faced down the largest media firestorm on measles in history, meticulously orchestrated by Pharma, it’s captive regulators, and media dependents. They had the gift of an outbreak 10 miles from the Oregon border. A super majority of Dems still couldn’t pass the law. Thank God that Oregon legislators still listen to facts. I’m ashamed of my party and grateful for the GOP’s courage in standing up to Pharma.”
