Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
COVID-19 puts spotlight on science — but scientists often lie We can beat COVID-19 — just trust the science, we’re told. Trust in the scientists, we’re told. And that’s not a paraphrase.“From the Editors: We Can Beat COVID-19. Just Trust Science,” Wired wrote.Well and good. Fine and dandy. But fact is, scientists often lie. Science isn’t always the beacon toward truth. It’s not just frequently flawed; it’s frequently deceptive. And purposely so.So tossing citizens’ civil rights into the sea and allowing medical professionals and scientists to steer the COVID-19 boat may not be the best case scenario for a free America.“Stanford researchers uncover patterns in how scientists lie about their data,” wrote Stanford News, back in late 2015.
Wisconsin high court gets it right: Stay-at-home orders ‘unlawful’ The Wisconsin Supreme Court just struck down the state’s stay-at-home orders, saying in a scathing 4-3 ruling that the heath secretary has no right to use the coronavirus as justification to confine free citizens to their residences — that the order was “unlawful, invalid and unenforceable.”Finally. A moment of sanity among the barrage of insane unconstitutional acts that have swept this nation.Executive orders are not laws.Executive orders are not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution as a right of government. And that Wisconsin’s highest court called out Health Services Secretary Andrea Palm’s Emergency Order 28, i.e. the lockdown of state residents, as a “vast seizure of power” is an about-freaking-time moment for sure. This isn’t just a win for the conservatives who brought the court challenge against Palm’s order, which was set to stay in place to at least May 26.It’s a win for freedom.
False Negatives Raise More Questions About Virus Test Accuracy New research is raising more questions about tests used around the U.S. to diagnose Covid-19 patients, with some of the tests producing a surprisingly high rate of false negatives that incorrectly show a person isn’t infected. One study released Wednesday examining an Abbott Laboratories test that’s used at the White House to get rapid diagnoses indicated it may miss as many as half of positive cases. A second peer-reviewed study released hours later suggested that results for another type of widely used diagnostic test are particularly unreliable early on in an infection. The first study found that Abbott’s ID NOW machine missed at least one-third of positive cases detected with a rival test, and as many as 48% when using the currently recommended dry nasal swabs, according to the report on BioRxiv, a server where researchers post early work before it has been reviewed by other scientists.
H.R. 6666 a devil of a COVID-19 government surveillance plot A House resolution from Illinois Democrat Rep. Bobby Rush that would put Big Government in charge of tracking citizens’ movements as they relate to COVID-19 mitigation efforts — even sending health bureaucrats to “individuals’ residences,” “as necessary,” as the legislation states — has a most apt number: 6666.Mark of the beast. Mark of the beast for a beastly, monstrously unconstitutional bill. After all, what’s more devilishly un-American than launching one of the most massive government surveillance programs of private citizens in U.S. history, all under the guise of protecting people from the coronavirus? That’s the “COVID-19 Testing, Reaching, And Contacting Everyone (TRACE) Act” in all its $100 billion grant giveaway glory. According to H.R. 6666’s text: The taxpayer funds will be used to “trace and monitor the contacts of infected individuals, and to support the quarantine of such contacts, through mobile health units and, as necessary … at [citizens’] residences.”
Future Air Travel: Four-Hour Process, Self Check-In, Disinfection, Immunity Passes Once airports and borders open again and people are able to fly freely — a process already in play as airports of all sizes around the world ready strategies to ensure healthy air travel — how much are you ready to change your flying habits? As much as was required after 9/11? Less? More?Considering some of the changes already happening and the many more recommended before airports can reopen safely to commercial routes, experts are referring to the coronavirus pandemic as ‘the new terrorism,’ triggering the biggest crisis the airline industry has ever faced.Let’s start with the entire process of checking in for flights, which some calculate that it could take up to four hours and involving social distancing, sanitation of passengers and luggage, wider spaces for various lines and waiting to board.Nine out of 10 experts expect slower turnarounds between flights due to the need of thorough cleaning of cabins and following of sanitary measures at airports.
More Americans Are Becoming Socialists Abby Harms was laid off from their job at a Denver board-games store the same day that the city went into lockdown. Within days of filling out a petition for laid-off service workers, Harms (who identifies as nonbinary) got an unexpected call from the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. Did they need food or help getting groceries? Assistance filing for unemployment? Did Harms want to participate in a rent-cancellation campaign? To the last proposal, Harms eagerly agreed, and soon they were a dues-paying member of the DSA.“I felt like I was doing something productive out of this whole nightmare,” the 32-year-old Harms, who says their politics have always been far-left, told me. “I had a purpose and something to fight for.”Membership in DSA chapters around the country has surged in the past eight weeks. An estimated 10,000 people have joined since March, bringing the group’s total membership to roughly 66,000, according to internal figures. Enrollment fluctuates month to month, but the DSA hasn’t seen numbers like this since the election of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2018, a spokesperson said.
The Worst Is Yet to Come: Contact Tracing, Immunity Cards and Mass Testing No one is safe No one is immune. No one gets spared the anguish, fear and heartache of living under the shadow of an authoritarian police state. That’s the message being broadcast 24/7 with every new piece of government propaganda, every new law that criminalizes otherwise lawful activity, every new policeman on the beat, every new surveillance camera casting a watchful eye, every sensationalist news story that titillates and distracts, every new prison or detention center built to house troublemakers and other undesirables, every new court ruling that gives government agents a green light to strip and steal and rape and ravage the citizenry, every school that opts to indoctrinate rather than educate, and every new justification for why Americans should comply with the government’s attempts to trample the Constitution underfoot.Yes, COVID-19 has taken a significant toll on the nation emotionally, physically, and economically, but there are still greater dangers on the horizon. As long as “we the people” continue to allow the government to trample our rights in the so-called name of national security, things will get worse, not better. It’s already worse. Now there’s talk of mass testing for COVID-19 antibodies, screening checkpoints, contact tracing, immunity passports to allow those who have recovered from the virus to move around more freely, and snitch tip lines for reporting “rule breakers” to the authorities.

Cassandra Callender, forced to undergo chemo, dies at 22 Cassandra Callender, who was forced by Connecticut courts as a teenager to undergo chemotherapy for cancer, has died after a five-year battle with the disease, her mother said Thursday. She was 22.Callender, of Windsor Locks, died Tuesday at home, where she had been in hospice care for four months, Jackie Fortin said.“The cancer never went away,” Fortin said. “They said they saved her life. They lied. She suffered for five years. It was horrific. If you did that to your dog, you’d get arrested.”A judge in 2015 ordered Callender, known as “Cassandra C.” during her legal fight, to undergo chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma after she refused treatment, saying she didn’t want to poison her body. The state Department of Children and Families stepped in, and a juvenile court judge removed Callender, who was 17 at the time, from her home and placed her under guard in the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Her case went to the state Supreme Court, which ruled in January 2015 that the department wasn’t violating her rights. The case was argued under what is known as the mature minor doctrine, centering on whether Callender was mature enough to determine how to treat her cancer.Connecticut’s high court found that Callender, who had run away during a home visit, demonstrated she did not have the maturity to make her own medical decisions.

Cats can infect other cats with coronavirus, researchers find Cats can infect other cats with the novel coronavirus, but they may not show any symptoms, according to a study published Wednesday. The findings add to a growing body of research showing how cats, big and small, can contract the virus. But experts say there is no evidence felines are contributing to the spread of Covid-19.In the study, researchers infected three cats and found that all of them were shedding the virus after three days. When the infected cats were paired with healthy ones — housed together for a few days — the healthy cats developed the virus, too.None of the animals in the study showed any symptoms such as abnormal temperatures or substantial weight loss. The first two cats in the United States to test positive — both New Yorkers — showed mild respiratory symptoms, although both were expected to make a full recovery. Eight lions and tigers at the Bronx Zoo also tested positive.
Lethal rabbit virus discovered in California for first time A lethal virus that affects both domestic and wild rabbits has been discovered in California for the first time, wildlife officials in The Golden State announced this week. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), in a statement on Wednesday, said a case of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Serotype 2, or RHDV2, has been confirmed in a black-tailed jackrabbit carcass found near Palm Springs in early May.Wildlife experts are now concerned the virus could “significantly impact wild rabbit populations,” namely those already considered at risk, such as the endangered riparian brush rabbit “and those with limited distribution in the state, such as the pygmy rabbit,” the wildlife department said.“Unfortunately, we may also see impacts to species that depend on rabbits for food, as rabbits are a common prey species for many predators,” said CDFW Senior Wildlife Veterinarian Deana Clifford, in a statement
