Special Guest – Barbara Loe Fisher
Barbara Loe Fisher is co-founder and president of the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), a non-profit charity she founded with parents of vaccine injured children in 1982 to prevent vaccine injuries and deaths through public education. For the past four decades, she has led a national, grassroots movement and public information campaign to institute vaccine safety and informed consent protections in public health policies and laws. She has researched, analyzed and publicly articulated the science, policy, law, ethics and politics of vaccination to become one of the world’s leading non-medical, consumer advocacy experts on vaccination and human rights.
She is co-author of the seminal book DPT: A Shot in the Dark (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich 1985; Warner 1986; Avery/Putnam 1991) and author of The Guide to Reforming Vaccine Policy & Law (2014, 2017); The Emerging Risks of Live Virus and Virus Vectored Vaccines: Vaccine Strain Virus Infection, Shedding and Transmission (2014); Vaccines, Autism & Chronic Inflammation: The New Epidemic (2008) and The Consumer’s Guide to Childhood Vaccines (1997). She is founder and executive editor of the weekly online journal, The Vaccine Reaction, and a video blog commentator for the NVIC Newsletter and Mercola Newsletter. Her long public record of vaccine safety and choice advocacy was featured in the 2011 award winning film documentary THE GREATER GOOD.
Trump Says He Doesn’t Want Campaign Donations From Pharma President Donald Trump spurned campaign contributions from the pharmaceutical industry on Wednesday, calling the industry out for its role in a national opioid addiction epidemic. “I don’t want their money,” Trump said at an event on drug addiction in Atlanta. “They have got to do what is right.” The industry hasn’t been a big donor to Trump, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics. In 2016, he got just $386,862 from donors working for pharmaceutical firms. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton received $2.7 million from them. The industry doesn’t rank among the top 20 sources of money for Trump’s re-election campaign, which has gotten the bulk of its support from small-dollar donors giving in amounts of $200 or less. Trump’s administration has stepped up scrutiny of pharmaceutical companies as part of an initiative to combat addiction to prescription painkillers. Federal prosecutors on Tuesday charged opioid distributor Rochester Drug Cooperative and its former chief executive with felonies — the first case of its kind related to the opioid crisis.
Trump says people must get vaccinated amid historic year for measles cases President Donald Trump on Friday urged people to get vaccinated for measles, saying it’s “so important” amid the worst year for the disease in the U.S. since it was declared eliminated from the country in 2000. “They have to get the shots. The vaccinations are so important. This is really going around now. They have to get their shots,” Trump told reporters in response to a question about measles before departing for Indiana to give a speech at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention. Trump had previously been silent on the issue, even as the disease reached 22 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed 695 cases this year, surpassing the post-2000 record in just the first four months of the year. Encouraging people to get vaccinated marks a reversal for Trump, who has pushed false claims about vaccines in the past. He has questioned their safety and stoked fear that vaccinating babies might contribute to rising autism rates. Scientists have repeatedly debunked a now-retracted study from the 1990s that falsely claimed vaccines cause autism.
UCLA, Cal State LA To Quarantine Students Who Cannot Prove They Had Measles Vaccination A quarantine order has been issued for hundreds of students and staff at two major Los Angeles universities – the University of California, Los Angeles, and California State University Los Angeles — who may have been exposed to measles and either have not been vaccinated or cannot verify that they have immunity. UCLA reported that, as of Wednesday, there were 119 students and 8 faculty members under quarantine and ordered to avoid contact with others. Cal State L.A. reported that there were 127 staff and 71 students who had been sent home. UCLA Chancellor Gene Block announced the quarantines in a statement that confirmed one UCLA student has contracted measles. “We were also informed that the student had attended classes at Franz Hall and Boelter Hall on three days — April 2, 4 and 9 — while contagious. The student did not enter any other buildings while on campus,” Block wrote. “Dozens” of such orders were issued for students and staff who were in the CSULA Library North on April 11 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., officials said at a news conference Thursday afternoon.
Hour 2 – Special Guest Tia Severino
ANNOUNCING THE UPCOMING SEQUEL ‘Vaxxed II: The People’s Truth’ is the follow-up to the award-winning documentary, ‘Vaxxed: From Cover-Up To Catastrophe.’ When we set out across America promoting Vaxxed, thousands of empowered parents traveled miles to share the stories of what happened to their children. These stories created a movement. A revolution that will change history forever. The parents have been lied to and will be silenced no longer.
The Story After the release of Vaxxed: From Cover-Up To Catastrophe, the Vaxxed team toured the nation to attend premieres and answer questions. It was during these screenings that producer Polly Tommey, the mother of Billy, who has autism, realized that most parents attending the premieres were traveling miles just to ask questions regarding coping as a parent of an autistic child. Polly realized that she needed to be speaking to the people on the ground, speaking to the masses. She needed to help them. So, she came up with an idea: a tour bus.
In the summer of 2016, Polly found an old RV van and assembled her crew; Joshua Coleman, the cameraman, Patrick Layton, the driver, and Anu Vaiyda, editor and head of technology.
They set out traveling across every state in the United States, as well as tours in Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The team worked tirelessly for 18 months hearing and sharing these families’ stories of vaccine injury.
Thousands of people would tune into the Vaxxed social media via Periscope, YouTube and Facebook Live to listen to the countless stories of vaccine injury, relating with the issues and providing support.
It wasn’t long before these viewers formed a community and became a force to be reckoned with, a powerful voice fighting in court houses, forming rallies and protests, and thus ultimately saving lives.
What the team and that bus uncovered over the 18 months was chilling. It exposed the lies and misconceptions that had been told to these families for nothing but the financial gain of the pharmaceutical companies. Tragic amounts of damage and heartache have been caused.
After the retirement of the Vaxxed bus, the team set themselves on another mission of getting the thousands of testimonies shared with the public.
To maximize reach, the team decided to set up a Roku channel, “Peeps TV,” not only to showcase these vaccine stories, but also to include holistic health tips, unseen footage from the original Vaxxed film, videos from all our “Peeps Hosts,” 11 different mini-series, cooking shows, and more.
To this day, the stories from the bus are still being edited and uploaded. Sadly, there were so many stories recorded that over a year later, they are still being worked on by our editing team.
We are in the process of finalizing our Peeps TV website; an uncensored online community where members can watch content, engage in forums, share stories and advice, and most importantly, where our community can continue to grow without the fear of being blocked, censored, or taken off the internet.
Polly Tommey and Brian Burrowes, formerly of Autism Media Channel (AMC), the creators of Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe, have moved on to join Toby Tommey in the development of Tommey Burrowes Productions with the vision of producing the powerful follow-up movie Vaxxed II: The People’s Truth.
