Tuesday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
What’s That You’re Breathing?
More than 95% of world’s population breathe dangerous air, major study finds More than
95% of the world’s population breathe unsafe air and the burden is falling hardest on the poorest communities, with the gap between the most polluted and least polluted countries rising rapidly, a comprehensive study of global air pollution has found. Cities are home to an increasing majority of the world’s people, exposing billions to unsafe air, particularly in developing countries, but in rural areas the risk of indoor air pollution is often caused by burning solid fuels. One in three people worldwide faces the double whammy of unsafe air both indoors and out. The report by the Health Effects Institute used new findings such as satellite data and better monitoring to estimate the numbers of people exposed to air polluted above the levels deemed safe by the World Health Organisation. This exposure has made air pollution the fourth highest cause of death globally, after high blood pressure, diet and smoking, and the greatest environmental health risk.
Young People in Polluted Cities at Greater Risk for Alzheimer’s A study has found that living in cities with high air pollution puts children and young adults at risk for Alzheimer’s and suicide, The University of Montana reported Friday. University of Montana researcher Dr. Lilian Calderón-Garcidueñas was part of a team that looked at the autopsies of 203 residents of Mexico City, which has daily ozone and particulate matter levels above U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. The subjects they studied ranged in age from 11 months to 40 years, and the researchers found signs of Alzheimer’s in 99.5 percent of them, including in less-than-a-year-old babies. “Alzheimer’s disease starting in the brainstem of young children and affecting 99.5% of young urbanites is a serious health crisis,” the abstract of the study, published in Environmental Research on March 23, warned.
Question of The Day!
Please clarify the difference between ionic and collidial silver: color, size of particle, taste safety and efficacy. I have always used Natural Immunogenics but would like to know the differences between Sovereign Silver and Sun Force Health and Organics who are advertizing heavily.
Blood Pressure – New Guidelines Are Dangerous
New blood pressure guidelines may make millions anxious that they’re at risk of heart
disease Recent recommendations to lower the threshold for diagnosing patients with high blood pressure are likely to harm up to 80% of those newly diagnosed. Our analysis, published today in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, argues the recommendations from two US bodies to diagnose people with a top blood pressure reading (systolic) of 130mmHg as having hypertension (high blood pressure) may do far more harm than good. Previously, a person would be diagnosed as having hypertension if their systolic reading was 140mmHg or more. But late last year, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association recommended lowering the threshold to 130mmHg.
One Answer To Curing Dementia?
Replacing Alcohol With Marijuana May Prevent Dementia While alcohol is one of America’s favorite inebriating substances, it also puts users at a greater risk for dementia, according to a new study from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. In the report, researchers said that alcohol was one of the most preventable risk factors in the development of nearly every type of dementia, including early onset. The consensus is that tens of thousands of people every year could be saved from this deadly disease if they could just find a way to curb their booze consumption. “The findings indicate that heavy drinking and alcohol use disorders are the most important risk factors for dementia, and especially important for those types of dementia which start before age 65, and which lead to premature deaths,” said study co-author Jürgen Rehm. “Alcohol-induced brain damage and dementia are preventable, and known-effective preventive and policy measures can make a dent in premature dementia deaths.”
Hour 2 – Barbara Bush, COPD and Congestive Heart Failure
What is COPD and congestive heart failure? As former first lady Barbara Bush rests at her
Houston home amid news of her failing health, more news is coming out about the diseases she’s fighting. Bush has suffered from congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, also known as COPD, for some time now. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, congestive heart failure means the heart can’t pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. It does not mean that the heart has stopped but that the muscle is too weak to meet the body’s demand.
COPD now afflicts more women than men in US Joan Cousins was among a generation of young women who heard—and bought into the idea—that puffing on a cigarette was sophisticated, modern, even liberating. No one suspected it would make them more than equal to men in suffering a choking, life-shortening lung disease. “Everybody smoked. It was the cool thing to do,” said Cousins, who smoked her first cigarette 67 years ago at age 16. But one day, Cousins started coughing and could not stop—or take a deep breath. She drove to a hospital, where doctors told her she had a progressive lung disease called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). “Not breathing was so scary … that I never had another cigarette,” Cousins said.

Woman fighting release of GMO mosquitoes found dead in hotel pool A longtime opponent of genetically engineered mosquitoes was found dead in a Washington D.C. hotel as she prepared to present a petition with over 200,000 signatures to the EPA. On Tuesday morning Mila de Mier — a 45-year-old activist from Key West, Florida who opposed the release of genetically engineered mosquitoes — was found dead in a swimming pool at a hotel in Washington D.C. De Meir was visiting D.C. to deliver a petition to the Environmental Protection Agency demanding the agency deny a permit for the release of genetically engineered mosquitoes in Florida and Texas.
Eight Reasons Why Every Human Being With a Conscience Should Boycott Monsanto-
Bayer It didn’t come without a fight, but approval for the Monsanto-Bayer merger has finally come down from U.S. antitrust regulators, meaning the $60 billion “merger from hell” will proceed. Now that the newest and biggest GMO, chemical, and pharmaceutical giant has become visible on the horizon, it’s important to know just what we’re up against as we head into the May 19 March Against Monsanto. With that in mind, it’s important to know just why this merger is bad news for anybody who cares about natural and organic food, and the health of people and the planet in general.
Stories Like This Give Us Hope
4-Yr-Old Spends Allowance On Feeding The Homeless Austin Perine of Prichard, Alabama hopes to someday become the president of the United States. For now, he’ll settle for becoming a humanitarian icon. These already big aspirations are especially noteworthy considering the fact Austin is only four years old. The ambitious young man has already accomplished a lot at a very young age. He’s a champion youth athlete, and now, thanks to a video his dad shared on social media, Austin is well on his way to becoming a good example for us all. It all started when Austin and his dad, Terance Perine, were watching a show about pandas on Animal Planet. Austin asked his dad why a mother panda had abandoned her cubs, and Terance replied, “Well, I guess it’s going to be homeless for a while.” The conversation sparked a conversation about homeless people, and before Terance knew it, his son was asking to go see the homeless in his area for himself. Austin decided then and there to use his modest allowance money to buy them some food and drinks.
