Friday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
As pharmaceutical use continues to rise, side effects are becoming a costly health issue The use of pharmaceuticals is on the rise and, globally, the expenses for drugs are projected to reach US$1.5 trillion by 2021. The ageing of populations is one of the drivers of this upward trend, but another important influence is our growing tendency to treat conditions and circumstances we didn’t use to medicalise. One reason for this medicalisation is the creation of new conditions. The goal of preventing future disability and early death has fashioned new disorders – including high cholesterol and blood pressure. Such proto diseases are based on a person’s risk profile at a time when disease is not present and symptoms are not felt. Proto diseases can be identified in an ever growing proportion of the population. The belief that treating these conditions will lead to future cost savings drives up drug consumption, aimed at bringing cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose levels into line.
Questions of The Day!
Hello Robert, I was listening to you being interviewed by Jonathan Landsman for the Holistic Oral Health Summit. You mentioned a type of Silver that you use. Not knowing what I was doing I bought Opti-Silver Solution the other day by Optimum Health Vitamins. Aquasol Technology claims it is higher stability and activity than colloidal silver. Would you know anything about this type of silver and if so, could you tell me if I should use it. 1 tsp. – 50 mcg
It’s Margaret here again, you answered my question about the Impetigo in my 5 month old. As for what caused the disruption in his microbiome, could it have been antibiotics passed through breast milk? He is exclusively breastfed, not vaccinated, no antibiotic eye cream, I wash him with a Norwex cloth and water. I had a natural birth at home with a midwife. Unfortunately, I hemorrhaged and was given antibiotics and other medications.
I also have a follow up question regarding your comment about Hepar sulphuris calcareum, can you elaborate a little more about what that is and how it plays a roll in healing the skin?
Pinterest is blocking all searches on vaccinations to stop spread of misinformation You may notice something unusual when you search for “vaccines” or “vaccinations” on Pinterest: no results. The social media site has blocked all searches using terms related to vaccines or vaccinations as part of a plan to stop the spread of misinformation related to anti-vaxx posts. When you attempt a search on “vaccination,” Pinterest instead shows a message reading: “Pins about this topic often violate our community guidelines, so we’re currently unable to show search results.” Pinterest could not be immediately reached for comment. In a statement to CNBC, the social media platform said it was placing a ban on all vaccination searches until it can find a permanent solution. “We want Pinterest to be an inspiring place for people, and there’s nothing inspiring about misinformation,” said a statement to CNBC from a Pinterest spokesperson. “That’s why we continue to work on new ways of keeping misleading content off our platform and out of our recommendations engine.”
FDA proposes new sunscreen regulations The US Food and Drug Administration is proposing new regulations on over-the-counter sunscreens in an effort to keep up with the latest scientific and safety information. The proposal, announced Thursday, is available for public review and comment for the next 90 days and addresses the safety of common sunscreen ingredients, as well their dosage forms, sun protection factor (SPF) and broad-spectrum requirements. It also addresses labeling, aiming to make it easier for consumers to identify key product information. “Since the initial evaluation of these products, we know much more about the effects of the sun and about sunscreen’s absorption through the skin,” FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said in a statement. Over-the-counter sunscreen drug products are regulated by the FDA under the Sunscreen Innovation Act, an expedited process put in place in 2014. Certain ingredients can be marketed without going through the new drug application process because they are generally considered to be safe.
Special Guest AJ Lanigan!
A.J. Lanigan studied at the University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy from 1971–1975. A.J. has been fascinated with various disciplines of immunology for almost 30 Years. After several successful ventures in the medical space, he discovered the immensely researched compound Beta-1, 3D Glucan.
At the time of its inception, Beta Glucan was prohibitively expensive and economically unfeasible for the average person, “When I began, only two companies were widely selling to consumers; they sold a 2.5mg capsule, in a 30-count bottle for $40.”
After teaming with key manufacturers, A.J. was able to develop a process that significantly improved the purity and cost effectiveness of Beta Glucan, making it exceedingly more affordable:
“I breached the market with The First US-Made Beta Glucan that served to provide a Safe, Effective, and Affordable Supplement.”
Since its emergence on the marketplace, A.J.’s Beta Glucan has been recognized in the medical literature as,
“The Only Relevant Immune Modulator”
–Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association
In the past 20 years, dozens of Universities and Teaching Hospitals have published the safety and effectiveness of his product:
– Mayo Clinic
– Memorial Sloan Kettering
Today, A.J. Lanigan has teamed with some of the most brilliant researchers of our time; helping to drive the publication of several medical journals, books, videos and educational lectures. His works are now used worldwide as the backbone for understanding the Immune System, as well as the Safety and Benefits of Beta Glucan.
For years the earth alone has provided the necessary means for good life and abundant health. In the past half century, people have proliferated at such a rapid rate that our society now relies on technology to expand the earths resources to provide for the growing population. These “innovations” modified our foods, our environment and even the air we breathe in ways that are no longer healthy and life sustaining. The rate of disease, such as cancer and diabetes, has exploded and is found in unprecedented numbers of people. More and more people are reliant on synthetically derived prescription drugs that, many times, do nothing to change the source of the disease but simply mask the symptoms.
Better Way Health’s mission is to help people restore and/or maintain optimum health through a more natural means. The body is innately an amazing protector and healer and the products we provide work with these natural qualities and enhance their performance. The company was founded by Dave Perkins who through his own struggle with disease and years of research found what he believes the body needs to heal itself from the constant onslaught of pollutants, chemicals and toxins that we are exposed to everyday.
Beta-1, 3D Glucan modulates the immune system to provide support and balance. It is unlike other immune supplements that simply stimulate or change the immune response in an unnatural way. Over 50 years of research from prestigious universities (Harvard, Louisville, Tulane, Stanford, and more) documents the benefits of Beta Glucan. Transfer Point’s Beta-1, 3D Glucan is scientifically proven to be the Most Effective Immune System Supplement on the Market.
Beta KIDS® is an immune support supplement for children! The small, delicious fruit-flavored chewables provide a daily dose of proven immune support with natural ingredients and no added sugar. It is effective and completely safe for prolonged use.

Washington could ban eyeball tattoos Tattooed eyeballs are apparently rare in Washington state. A House committee was asked Wednesday to keep it that way with a bill that would ban tattoo artists from doing anything to the whites of your eyes. They are known as scleral tattoos because they scratch or dye the sclera, the white outer layer of the eyeball. Just the description of the tattoos made some members of the House Health Care and Wellness Committee shudder. “Everybody’s creeped out by this,” Chairwoman Eileen Cody, D-West Seattle, told the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Steve Tharinger, D-Sequim. “It’s odd, but it’s not a joke,” Tharinger said. “There is serious damage that can happen to people’s eyes.” His bill would put an outright ban on the practice and provide a civil penalty of as much as $10,000 for those who give someone a scleral tattoo. Aaron Lee, an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Washington and a member of the state Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, outlined some possible damage. The needle used for the tattoo could puncture the cornea, damage or detach the retina or introduce an infection that could only be treated by removing the eye.
