Sunday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
What Is “Disease Prestige”?
When you’re sick, the support you’ll get may depend on the ‘worth’ of your disease The name of an illness canaffect the level of care a person receives. Cancer sufferers experiencing fear and uncertainty may have access to cancer care centres. Donations and bequests enable these centres to offer everything from accessible parking, to wig and beauty services, to comprehensive clinical care. A person with arthritis, on the other hand, may have little access to public services. For instance, there is only one rheumatology nurse for every 45,000 people living with rheumatoid arthritis. While suffering can be severe across all diseases, access to care is uneven. The hierarchy that determines how little or how much support is available for an illness is known as “disease prestige”. The idea was introduced in the 1940s and since then a number of researchers have tried to classify diseases on a hierarchy of prestige. The higher a disease is on this hierarchy, the more resources and community support available for its sufferers. The lower a disease, the less resources.
Weird Timing….Why Now?
FDA warns: Don’t let your children sink their teeth into benzocaine The crying echoes through your house – your teething baby is miserable, and all you are wishing for is some peace for the both of you. Here’s what a new FDA warning says a parent should NOT do. Don’t run to the nearest drug store and buy all of the products made for the relief of sore gums – these products could be a problem, according to the new warning. Many over the counter products designed for teething pain contain benzocaine, a chemical that may pose serious health risks for infants and children. The FDA says these products should no longer be used on children under 2. Benzocaine is associated with a dangerous health condition called methemoglobinemia, which causes the amount of oxygen carried through the blood to be greatly reduced. It can be fatal.
Fake CBD Poisoned At Least 52 People In Utah Last Winter, Officials Say According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), synthetic products marketed as cannabidiol (CBD) sickened at least 52 people in Utah last winter, sending 31 of them to emergency rooms. This week, the agency released a report on a poisoning outbreak that occurred in the state between December 2017 and January 2018, and which it linked to one or more synthetic cannabinoids being sold as the genuine article. Users reported that they had purchased such products as “Yolo CBD oil” at regular smoking and/or head shops, or acquired them from friends. Unlike the many poisoning victims of K2 and other chemicals sold as ‘synthetic marijuana’ (a.k.a. synthetic cannabinoids), all of the patients identified in the report believed they were consuming legally derivedCBD, which experts maintain has little to no potential for psychoactive effects. The cannabinoid chemical is found in varying amounts in both marijuana and hemp, and has been shown to have significant potential applications (and some outright proven ones) in medicine.
Cannabis oil stopped his seizures but may keep him from his dream A high school football player who takes cannabis oil to prevent his seizures has been ruled ineligible to play in college, a decision that has sparked outrage from advocates, lawmakers and sports fans. A former Big Ten Coach of the Year sharply criticized the decision, saying “it’s not fair to the kid” and urging the NCAA to reconsider. C.J. Harris, a standout strong safety, helped lead Warner Robins High School to the Georgia state championship game and committed to play for Auburn University next season. But he was recently notified by Auburn coaches that the NCAA will not allow him to play if he remains on cannabis oil, according to CNN affiliate WGXA. Under NCAA guidelines, athletes are not permitted to have any tetrahydrocannabinol in their systems. Known as THC, it is one of the active ingredients in cannabis. It has some medical applications but is also psychoactive and can cause a “high.” The other active cannabis ingredient, cannabidiol or CBD, does not produce a high and is thought to offer wide-ranging health benefits, including against seizures.
Florida ban on smokable medical marijuana ruled unconstitutional A Florida judge has ruled the state’s ban on smokable medical marijuana is unconstitutional. Leon County Circuit Court Judge Karen Gievers ruled in favor of People United for Medical Marijuana and two patients challenging the ban. Voters approved a constitutional amendment in 2016 allowing the use of medical marijuana through vaping and in food, oils, sprays and tinctures. The Legislature last year included a provision banning it from being smoked, and Gov. Rick Scott signed the measure into law in June. The plaintiffs argued that because the amendment’s language only mentions smoking in public, users should be allowed to smoke in private. John Morgan, who led the push to get medical marijuana legalized in Florida, was among the plaintiffs. He tweeted after the ruling that “truth prevails.” Kim Rivers, the CEO of Trulieve, hailed the ruling. Trulieve is one of the dominant players in the fledgling industry.
Is cockroach milk back as a superfood trend? Food trends like cronuts and charcoal come and go, but one bizarre “superfood” is back, two years after it first debuted: The pesky bug is actually filled with an energy-rich milk-like substance. It’s not your typical non-dairy milk alternative like almond milk, but cockroach milk is gaining popularity once again, after coming to the forefront in 2016. In 2016, a research team based at the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine in India said the “milk” from the Pacific beetle cockroach could make for the next great superfood. These cockroaches possess protein-rich crystals that lactate to feed their young. This particular type of cockroach, which is usually found on Pacific islands like Hawaii, gives birth to their babies, as opposed to laying eggs. Their “milk” is made up of protein-infused crystals reported to have three times the energy of the equivalent mass of normal dairy milk. “The crystals are like a complete food — they have proteins, fats and sugars. If you look into the protein sequences, they have all the essential amino acids,” Sanchari Banerjee, one of the main researchers, told the Times of India.
Hour 2 – Dementia Update!
Study Links Some Antidepressants, Bipolar Medications To Dementia New research is raising important questions as to whether certain widely-prescribed drugs — antidepressants, bipolar medications, and Parkinson’s drugs — may be linked to dementia. Globally, 50 million people are living with dementia. It is predicted that will increase to 132 million by 2050. Doctors and public health experts realize that countries need to develop preventive health policies to reduce the neurodegenerative condition. One strategy: to swap out certain medications or have doctors think twice before prescribing them. These medicines include certain antidepressants, bipolar medications, antispasmodics taken for bladder control, as well as some Parkinson’s drugs. The drugs in question are called known as anticholinergics. They block a specific neurotransmitter called acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
Dementia symptoms: Prevent signs of the condition by dancing Dementia consists of several conditions caused by a decline in brain function. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease, caused by problems in the brain. Signs and symptoms of the condition include memory loss, speech problems and becoming confused in familiar places. Some of the best ways to prevent the condition include keeping mentally and physically active. Re:Cognition Health, based in London, encourages incorporating “fun tweaks” in everyday life to reduce the risk of developing dementia, or treat the dementia for sufferers. Dance is one activity it recommends to reduce dementia risk. “Studies have shown that the occurrence of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease can be reduced by exercises like dancing,” said Dr Jo Rodda, consultant cognitive psychiatrist at Re:cognition Health. “Not only is it fun, social and engaging but it’s a great way of incorporating exercise into the weekly routine.
Question of The Day!
About the HIV lies
The following question is crucial:
What percentage of the HIV Negative population do you think have a DETECTABLE HIV Viral load ?
– We know the Elisa and Western Blot tests are very much inaccurate, as there are over 70 medical conditions that can cause a Positive result
– We know also the CD4 count is not a clear indication of someone’s health
So really, the only weapon the HIV/AIDS establishment have to consolidate their HIV causing AIDS hypothesis, is the HIV Viral load count. But if we could find out that many HIV Negative people have also a Detectable HIV viral load count, then it would crash the HIV establishment into a corner, and they would have serious questions to answer
That study on a large scope of HIV Negative people has to be done, its the only way to get to the bottom of this
Time To Set The Record Straight!
The U.S. Needs an Independent Vaccine Safety Organization Separate from the Corrupt FDA and CDC Most Americans are oblivious to the huge annual burden of chronic illness, injuries and deaths linked to vaccines. Some of the blame for the public’s ignorance belongs to a complicit media that “pretends that vaccine-related injuries do not occur.” However, the lion’s share of culpability for the buried story likely rests with the two federal agencies charged with vaccine oversight—the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)—both of which regularly engage in various forms of deception to uphold their bland narrative that vaccines are unambiguously safe. The two agencies claim that they only license vaccines and allow them to remain on the market if the vaccines’ benefits outweigh their potential risks. Yet credible accusations have surfaced for years—aired by legislators, researchers, watchdog groups and many others—that both the FDA and CDC lack the impartiality required to make accurate judgments about vaccine safety. How can they, when the CDC’s dual mandate is both to monitor vaccine safety and promote vaccines?
Hey Antifa…Try This Instead…
Guerilla Gardeners Are Grafting Fruit Onto City Trees Trees perform many overlooked services for city life – allowing birds to perch and grace us with their sweet songs, cooling hot temperatures, and dampening noise pollution. Heck, they even clean toxic pollution. But are we overlooking another resource trees can offer? One that we facilitate ourselves? Grafting is when a branch from one tree is spliced into the branches of another tree. It almost sounds unreal but the tree adopts the new branch and they grow as one. So the grafted branch will bear fruit! Many of our apples come from these grafted gifts. In the personal account called “I joined a guerilla mission to turn city trees into fruit trees,” Ilana Strauss asks: These city trees tend to be decorative — they don’t bear fruit — and some people think that’s a waste. There are so many hungry people in cities; why not plant fruit-bearing trees? “Whole cities could be lined with free apples and peaches.”
