Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
Barr under fire over comparison of virus lock-in to slavery Attorney General William Barr drew sharp condemnation Thursday for comparing lockdown orders during the coronavirus pandemic to slavery. In remarks Wednesday night at Hillsdale College in Michigan, Barr had called the lockdown orders the “greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history” since slavery. Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., the No. 3 House Democratic leader, told CNN that Barr’s remarks were “the most ridiculous, tone-deaf, God-awful things I’ve ever heard” because they wrongly equated human bondage with a measure aimed at saving lives. “Slavery was not about saving lives. It was about devaluing lives,” Clyburn said. “This pandemic is a threat to human life.” This is not the first occasion that Barr has condemned stay-at-home orders. He has previously said that some orders were “ disturbingly close to house arrest,” and the Justice Department sent letters to several states warning that some of their virus-related restrictions might be unlawful. Prosecutors also filed statements of interest in several civil cases challenging some of the restrictions.
Michael Caputo, HHS spox, warns: ‘Buy ammunition’ Michael Caputo, the leading communications guy at the Department of Health and Human Services, delivered some bombshell advice to American citizens during a recent Facebook Live video that went like this: Buy ammo. ‘Cause when President Donald Trump wins reelection, his Democratic rival Joe Biden won’t concede. Then Caputo accused some scientists within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of using the coronavirus to unite in “resistance” against Trump. And here’s the interesting part: Caputo actually makes sense. After all: Aren’t the coronavirus curves, for the most part, flattened? Aren’t the hospitals, for the most part, empty? Aren’t the case counts, for the most part, representative more of numbers of full recoveries and asymptomatic than “oh no, we’re gonna die!” infections? Why yes, yes they are. Yet, there are those — mostly in Democratic Party camps — who want schools to stay closed, face masks to stay on and whole economies to lay latent.
PJ O’Rourke: This is why millennials adore socialism America’s young people have veered to the left. Opinion pollsters tell us so. According to a November 2019 Gallup poll, “Since 2010, young adults’ positive ratings of socialism have hovered near 50 percent.” A March 2019 Axios poll concurs, saying that 49 percent of millennials would “Prefer living in a socialist country.” And The Hill puts it more strongly, citing an October 2019 YouGov Internet survey in a story headed, “7 in 10 Millennials Say They’d Vote for a Socialist.” Traditional liberalism still exists. In a March 2018 Pew Research Center study of Americans aged 22–37, 57 percent called themselves “mostly” or “consistently” liberal. But “mostly” or “consistently” liberal may not be enough for young voters. This was evident in the 2018 congressional elections. Ten-term incumbent congressmen Michael Capuano (D-Mass.) and Joe Crowley (D- NY) were as mostly consistently liberal as they come. And they were kicked to the curb in Democratic primaries by leftists Ayanna Pressley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Democracy in America plunges to new low amid chaos of 2020, watchdog As millions struggle to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic, a new survey claims American democracy isn’t faring much better. According to the political watchdog group Bright Line Watch, the “health” of several democratic principles are at their lowest levels in three years. The August 2020 poll, featuring 776 political science experts, finds large declines among several principals including protections of free speech, toleration of peaceful protest, and protection from political violence. From 2017 to 2019, the survey has graded the country’s democratic health to be in the high 60s on a scale of zero to 100. Bright Line Watch now gives America just a 61 in their latest report. “It is concerning that there has been so much erosion across the board on so many principles,” Gretchen Helmke from the University of Rochester says in a release. “We have been seeing growing gaps for a while between how important a principle is and how it is performing, particularly in areas related to institutional limits on the government and accountability. But the latest survey showed us just how much ground has been lost since March.”
Millennials to redistribute wealth from older generations to the young in new ‘age of disorder,’ warns Deutsche strategist It probably won’t take a great deal of persuasion to convince investors that there’s an “age of disorder.” That’s the title of a new Deutsche Bank research note, which says the world is entering its sixth distinct era of modern times. So say goodbye to the “era of globalization” and brace yourself for the “age of disorder” where millennials, firmly established as the generation of ‘have nots’, take their revenge and redistribute wealth from the old to young. Millennials are usually defined as those between the ages of 22 and 38 years old in 2019, according to Nielsen Media Research. The note by strategist Jim Reid warns the discussion of inequality within and between countries will not be limited to wealth and income.“In fact, an issue that is quickly emerging as a political force is the intergenerational gap,” the report says. “Assuming life does not become more economically favourable for Millennials as they age (many find house prices increasingly out of reach), this could be a potential turning point for society and start to change election results and thus change policy.”
Question of The Day!
Hi Robert – I have a question for Jonathan Emord. Why are companies not concerned about lawsuits that might occur in the event that an employee would become ill or injured as a result of being forced to wear a mask during their shift? Aren’t they completely violating OSHA regulations regarding breathing fresh air in the workplace? Have the regulations changed since this mess began? Thanks.
Hour 2 – John Hewlett – Cardio Miracle
The discovery of the function of nitric oxide which won the Nobel Prize in medicine gave humanity hope to conquer the deadliest disease on the planet. Scientist would soon learn nitric oxide not only regulates blood pressure and increases blood flow, but plays a vital role on the whole body system. The goal to change lives one person at a time became Cardio Miracle’s clarion call. To do this the founder, John Hewlett, embarked on a five year journey to produce the world’s finest nitric oxide supplement. Cardio Miracle’s commitment to excellence resulted in the formulation of the most effective defense against heart disease and to provide the best natural pathway to produce nitric oxide in the body. Cardio Miracle was designed to give the body an instant jolt of nitric oxide and then sustain the nitric oxide boosting effects for a 12 hour period. The highest quality ingredients were selected before this formula was put through rigorous laboratory testing to ensure efficacy, quality and sustained delivery. The end result is the most synergistic blend of mostly organic, bioavailable active ingredients.
RTP biotech backed by Jim Goodnight says nitric oxide can fight COVID-19 KNOW Bio, a biotech backed by SAS cofounder and CEO Jim Goodnight, says it has demonstrated the “first definitive evidence” that nitric oxide can fight the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The findings come as the search continues for a vaccine and other means to fight the deadly pandemic. Led by chair and CEO Neal Hunter, who once led Durham-based tech firm Cree, KNOW Bio is a conglomerate of various ventures. “There are millions of lives being disrupted and hundreds of thousands lost to this frightening virus,” Hunter said in a statement. “Our findings clearly show that nitric oxide-based therapeutics must be a part of any well-thought response to the COVID-19 pandemic.” The company said nitric oxide (NO) “can inhibit viral reproduction of SARS-CoV-2.” “We are the first to confirm the potent biological activity of nitric oxide against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19,” Hunter added. “As a leader in the development of NO-based therapies, we felt we were best positioned to establish that NO is effective against this virus.”
Research Shows Increase of Americans with Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure The latest research published in JAMA showing a greater proportion of Americans, particularly communities of color, were living with uncontrolled high blood pressure in 2017-2018 than previously is extremely troublesome, according to President of the American Medical Association (AMA), Susan R. Bailey, MD and President of American Heart Association (AHA), Mitchell S.V. Elkind, MD, MS, FAAN, FAHA. Despite the fact that there is more scientific evidence than ever before pointing to the devastating effects of uncontrolled high blood pressure, as well as broader access to low-cost generic medications to treat the condition, blood pressure control has worsened. Without intervention, more people will be at high-risk of heart attack, stroke, disability and death, both presidents say. This research reinforces the need for all healthcare providers and their patients to prioritize blood pressure control, especially now as cardiovascular disease places people at greater risk for adverse outcomes associated with COVID-19, they say. The data also highlights the need for each association to address upstream factors, including structural racism, that continue to contribute to the greater prevalence of hypertension and lower rates of blood pressure control among Black, Latino, Asian and Indigenous populations compared to White adults, each added.
Comment of The Day!
SUPER! SUPER! DUPER SHOW!! I just loved this show, I have been searching all over the internet to find some group of people that want to stop this mask stuff in Illinois ( I do not use social media so I have been using swisscows and duck duck go and nil) it is crazy I have not worn a mask this whole time and now all over they will now not let you in a business without a mask even with medical and it is crazy!!! I truly cannot wear a mask and not only that I do not want to. Where do I find some folks to help fight this? I feel like everyone here wants to wear the mask. Even at the health food store and of course I told them medical and they said do not come in here anymore without a mask then they really got me mad and said what about our constitutional rights? I just loved Tom Renz he knows what its all about. My biggest concern is IL is just like Ca & NY and now they are talking about oh you the people get paid to go door to door and track you, I believe it is called contact tracking and if they do it in Chicago they will do it all over the state. I am an old gal and I am willing to give it a good fight but cannot alone. There are not protest here except for BLM and that our Governor will partake in.
