Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
Biden to Push Same Gun Controls Already Failing in Democrat-Run Cities A White House fact sheet previewing President Joe Biden’s Wednesday afternoon speech suggests he will push for Congress to pass universal background checks and other gun controls that are already failing in Los Angeles and New York. According to the White House, Biden is urging “the Senate to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.” He is also asking the Senate to pass the universal background check legislation that passed the House of Representatives. New York adopted an “assault weapons” ban and a ban on “high capacity” magazines in 2013 under the auspices of the SAFE Act. They also adopted universal background checks and, in 2019, a red flag law. Yet on May 8, 2021, the Daily Mail noted “shooting incidents in New York City are up 83 percent from last year, and 94 percent from 2019.” California adopted universal background checks in the early 1990s and an “assault weapons” ban shortly thereafter. The state also has a ban on “high capacity” magazines that is being challenged in court, and a red flag law, a 10-day waiting period on gun purchases, and a limit on the number of guns a law-abiding citizen can buy in a given month. Yet on June 3, 2021, Breitbart News noted that murder in Los Angeles County was up 95 percent compared to where it was at that same time in 2020.
FL Gov. Ron DeSantis Signs Civics Bill Requiring Students to Learn Evils of ‘Communism, Totalitarian Ideologies’ Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed three civics education bills Tuesday, including HB 5, which requires high school students to learn about “communism and totalitarianism,” ideologies that “conflict with the principles of freedom and democracy essential to the founding principles of the United States.” “It’s crucial to ensure that we teach our students how to be responsible citizens,” DeSantis said during a press conference at a Fort Myers middle school, reported News4Jax. “They need to have a good working knowledge of American history, American government and the principles that underline our Constitution and Bill of Rights.” “I’m proud to sign three bills today that prioritize civics education in our schools,” DeSantis said in a press statement, adding: The sad reality is that only two in five Americans can correctly name the three branches of government, and more than a third of Americans cannot name any of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. It is abundantly clear that we need to do a much better job of educating our students in civics to prepare them for the rest of their lives.
Kudos to WSJ Editors for Publishing Op-Ed Saying ‘Politics’ Not Science Behind Failure to Acknowledge COVID Vaccine Risks Kudos to the editors of the Wall Street Journal, which on Tuesday published an op-ed by two physicians who said politics — not science — is behind the failure of health officials and the media to fully inform the public about the potential risks associated with COVID vaccines. In “Are Covid Vaccines Riskier Than Advertised?,” Joseph A. Ladapo, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine, and Harvey A. Risch, M.D., Ph.D., professor of epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health wrote while “some scientists have raised concerns that the safety risks of Covid-19 vaccines have been underestimated … the politics of vaccination has relegated their concerns to the outskirts of scientific thinking.” Ladapo and Risch highlighted the fact that clinical studies don’t always tell the full story about the safety of medications, and that the health effects often remain unknown until the medicine is rolled out to the general public. They wrote: “Historically, the safety of medications — including vaccines — is often not fully understood until they are deployed in large populations. Examples include rofecoxib (Vioxx), a pain reliever that increased the risk of heart attack and stroke; antidepressants that appeared to increase suicide attempts among young adults; and an influenza vaccine used in the 2009-10 swine flu epidemic that was suspected of causing febrile convulsions and narcolepsy in children. Evidence from the real world is valuable, as clinical trials often enroll patients who aren’t representative of the general population. We learn more about drug safety from real-world evidence and can adjust clinical recommendations to balance risk and benefits.”
Gavin Newsom recall becomes official; over 1.7M signatures against California Dem governor verified California’s effort to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom has succeeded in forcing a new election within 90 days following the validation of more than 1.5 million signatures, according to state officials. The California Secretary of State’s Office confirmed the move Wednesday evening. The recall petition garnered over 1.7 million signatures, of which only 43 were withdrawn, leaving the effort well above the 1.5 million threshold. “A sufficient number of verified recall signatures had previously been reached by recall proponents in April,” the Secretary of State’s office announced in a statement. “However, in accordance with California election law, voters were given a 30-day period from April 26 to June 8th to request county officials remove their signatures from recall petitions.” The next phase of the recall process is now in the hands of the state’s Department of Finance, which is tasked with estimating the costs of a special election. The vote must be held within 90 days. “It’s just been one thing after another with this governor and finally he’s going to be held accountable,” state Assemblyman James Gallagher told Fox News Wednesday evening. Gallagher, who has long criticized the governor for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and successfully sued him over mail-in balloting also ripped into him over a bombshell NPR report that found the embattled governor had “misled” the public on his state’s wildfire prevention efforts.
Cancel Mob Victory: Theodore Roosevelt Monument at NYC Museum to Be Relocated A bronze monument depicting Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, situated in front of New York City’s American Museum of Natural History will be relocated over claims that the statue symbolizes colonialism. On Monday, The New York City Public Design Commission unanimously approved a measure to relocate the statue, which depicts Roosevelt on horseback, flanked by a Native American and black man on foot, to an institution celebrating Roosevelt’s legacy. The vote was first reported by the New York Times. The monument has been in place since 1940. The development comes as dozens of statues depicting historic Americans have been removed across the country following protests and riots over the death of Georgie Floyd. In June 2020, museum officials proposed removing the statue. The museum is on city-owned property and Mayor Bill de Blasio supported the removal of the “problematic statue.” Museum officials said they were pleased with the commission’s vote in a prepared statement emailed Wednesday and thanked the city.
The Authoritarians: Their Assault on Individual Liberty, the Constitution, and Free Enterprise from the 19th Century to the Present
Jonathan W. Emord is one of the nation’s foremost experts on constitutional and administrative law and has practiced before the federal courts and agencies for thirty-five years. In The Authoritarians, Emord reveals the untold story and largely hidden practices of Authoritarians who have worked inside the United States government to undermine the Constitution and override rights protections since the earliest days of the Progressive Era. Emord traces the intellectual origins of Authoritarianism to its Hegelian roots in Germany. He shows how legions of academics, trained to hate the American system of government, became predominant in the major universities of America, entered government as top advisors, and successfully orchestrated an overthrow of the Constitution’s limits on power which put the rights of individuals in jeopardy from the Progressive Era through the New Deal to today. In The Authoritarians, readers learn how Authoritarians endorsed forced sterilization of 60,000 American citizens whom they deemed “undesirable” and “unfit”. Readers also learn how Authoritarians selectively created monopolies and overcame the constitutional limits on government power the Founding Fathers put in the Constitution to prevent tyranny, thus ushering in the foundation for a socialist state.
In The Authoritarians, Emord reveals the lies told by advocates of the Black Lives Matter organization, Antifa, and the 1619 Project. He presents the startling fact that the first slaves in the Jamestown Colony in 1619 were not blacks, but whites and that in the antebellum South slave owners were not only white, but black. Readers also learn the inherent failings of socialism; the tremendous cost it imposes on human lives; and the grave threat to the survival and success of liberty and justice in America posed by Authoritarians such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Ed Markey, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. The Authoritarians unveils a detailed strategy for restoring constitutional protection for individual rights and fending off the horrors of a socialist tidal wave now drenching America.
Hour 2 – Special Guest: Cordie Lee Williams
Dr. Cordie Williams is a US Marine and Chiropractor. At the beginning of the COVID pandemic in 2020, Dr. Cordie felt the state of California was violating his right and the rights of other Americans. As a father, veteran, and business owner, he knew he had to be the man to stand up. Dr. Cordie picked up a megaphone and began speaking up at protests all across California, gaining him the name #megaphonemarine.
Teens, young adults should get Covid vaccines, despite rare heart risks, CDC advisers urge The benefits of Covid-19 vaccination far outweigh the risks of heart inflammation in young people, a panel of independent advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday. Still, members of the group, called the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, agreed that a warning about the potential risk should be added to the Food and Drug Administration’s official fact sheets on the vaccines. The mRNA Covid-19 vaccines can, in rare instances, be linked to inflammation of the heart or surrounding tissue, called myocarditis or pericarditis. More than 300 cases have been confirmed by the CDC in adolescents or young adults — a figure that’s higher than what would usually be expected. The mRNA vaccines are made by both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. But the risk of Covid-19 is far higher: Teens and young adults account for the largest proportion of new cases in the United States, Dr. Megan Wallace, of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said during a presentation to the agency’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 2,767 Covid-19 deaths among people ages 12-29, with 315 deaths reported in that age group since April 1, according to CDC data presented at the meeting.
Surgeon fired by College of Medicine for voicing safety concerns about Covid shots for children The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms represents Dr. Francis Christian, Clinical Professor of General Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan and a practising surgeon in Saskatoon. Dr. Christian was called into a meeting today, suspended from all teaching responsibilities effective immediately, and fired from his position with the University of Saskatchewan as of September 2021. There is a recording of Dr. Christian’s meeting today between Dr. Christian and Dr. Preston Smith, the Dean of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine, Dr. Susan Shaw, the Chief Medical Officer of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and Dr. Brian Ulmer, Head of the Department of Surgery at the Saskatchewan College of Medicine. In addition, the Justice Centre will represent Dr. Christian in his defence of a complaint that was made against him and an investigation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. The complaint objects to Dr. Christian having advocated for the informed consent of Covid vaccines for children. Dr. Christian has been a surgeon for more than 20 years and began working in Saskatoon in 2007. He was appointed Director of the Surgical Humanities Program and Director of Quality and Patient Safety in 2018 and co-founded the Surgical Humanities Program. Dr. Christian is also the Editor of the Journal of The Surgical Humanities. On June 17, Dr. Christian released a statement to over 200 doctors which contained his concerns regarding giving the Covid shots to children. In it he noted that he is pro-vaccine, and that he did not represent any group, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, or the University of Saskatchewan. “I speak to you directly as a physician, a surgeon, and a fellow human being.” Dr. Christian noted that the principle of informed consent was sacrosanct and noted that a patient should always be “fully aware of the risks of the medical intervention, the benefits of the intervention, and if any alternatives exist to the intervention.”
Subway’s tuna sandwiches found to contain no tuna fish DNA, lab tests find following lawsuit Subway is on the hook for its tuna once again after a lab report found there’s no actual tuna DNA in its sandwiches and wraps. The New York Times had 60 inches of Subway tuna sandwiches from three different restaurants in Los Angeles lab tested after the chain was accused in a lawsuit reported earlier this year, alleging the fish is made from “a mixture of various concoctions,” first reported by the Washington Post. The tuna was frozen and sent out to the lab, which determined “no amplifiable tuna DNA was present in the sample and so we obtained no amplification products from the DNA. Therefore, we cannot identify the species,” according to the Times. The lab conducted a PCR test to see if Subway’s tuna featured one of five varying tuna species, the New York Times reported, explaining there are 15 species of fish that can be labeled tuna, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Seafood List.
