Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Hour 1 – Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord and Cheryl Chumley are back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
Hypocritical Dems suddenly discover Constitution House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, in an interview with Erin Burnett on CNN, said Democrats’ big concern with this White House was that it appeared, by all appearances, that President Donald Trump was trying to be a dictator. And no good card-carrying member of the Democratic Party can stand for that, he said. This is quite an astonishing turnaround for Democrats. After all, where was all this concern about dictatorial leadership when Barack Obama was king? Suddenly, Democrats have found their copies of the Constitution. “We’re simply exercising our oversight jurisdiction. And [Trump‘s] not — he doesn’t understand or he’s not willing to concede to Congress that we have an oversight jurisdiction. We have to — you’ve had two years of sustained attacks by an administration of the nature that we haven’t seen probably in a century or more, against the free press, against the courts, against law enforcement administrations … against freedom of speech,” Nadler said, as Mediaite reported. That’s called — Convenient Memory Syndrome.
Anti-Semitism within America’s gates Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat Muslim representing Minnesota, has generated quite a controversy for suggesting that America’s historical support for Israel is tantamount to “allegiance” to a foreign nation and for previous remarks that she’s made regarding the Jewish people. And rightly so. Her remarks ought not be taken lightly. Just as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her socialist principles warn of a shocking, trending direction of America’s domestic politics, Omar’s statements serve as a harbinger of what could be coming down the pike for U.S. foreign policy. What starts as subtlety can soon enough become rooted and sown. Omar, in 2012, tweeted “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” Last month, she tweeted that America’s traditional and long-standing support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins” — meaning, pro-Israel politicians in Congress were simply doing the bidding, blindly, of the Israeli lobbyists on Capitol Hill.
Question of The Day!
Hi Robert, I have a question for Jonathan Emord, if he hasn’t previously addressed this topic on your show. My question pertains to federal vaccine mandates. It’s my understanding that vaccines can only be mandated at the state level. There has been lots of panic and speculation lately about the possibility of federal vaccine mandates, as a direct result of the recent measles hearings in DC. My suspicion is that the real threat coming from the federal level will likely stem from indirect mandates tied to Real ID state compliance. My question for Jonathan is, do the feds really have authority to indirectly mandate adult vaccination via Real ID and what would the legal framework entail exactly? Or would would such a mandate be legal in the first place? And aside from spreading awareness on the issue, how could such mandates be averted?
The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons opposes federally mandated vaccines Tensions are high regarding vaccines lately. Due to a measles outbreak in the United States, frightened people are pushing an agenda to take an important medical decision out of the hands of parents. They’re calling for federally mandated vaccines. They’re calling for the shaming of parents who have chosen not to vaccinate their children. The hysteria is running high, fueled by fear and memes. Whether you opt to vaccinate or not to vaccinate, I think we can agree we all want what’s best for our children. An important letter was presented last week to the Senate subcommittee that is discussing federal laws that force parents to vaccinate their children. The statement below is from The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and they have come out strongly in opposition to the possibility of federally mandated vaccines. No matter what your opinion is on vaccinating children, please read this.
Collins predicts more Senate Republicans will vote against Trump’s emergency declaration More Republicans on the Hill will join the effort to prevent President Donald Trump’s national emergency from taking effect, a prominent moderate legislator from the Northeast is predicting. Sen. Susan Collins, Maine Republican, told CNN Thursday that she believes more of her fellow GOP senators will join her and other defecting Republicans to vote for a resolution preventing Mr. Trump from using his emergency powers to redirect some defense appropriations towards border-wall construction. “I haven’t taken a count,” Ms. Collins said. “But I can tell you from talking with my colleagues that many are troubled, even those who are the strongest supporters of the President and his views on border security.” Ms. Collins, along with Sens. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rand Paul of Kentucky, have all announced they would vote for the resolution and give the Democrats the votes they need to pass the measure. In the lead-up to the vote, Mr. Trump has tweeted that the Republican Party needed to “stay united,” dismissing concerns that a future Democratic president could claim precedent for implementing his or her own controversial emergency edicts.
Special Guest – Isaac Lindenberger
Isaac Lindenberger, older brother of Ethan Lindenberger, joins us tonight to give a different perspective to the vaccine debate. We will ask him for some behind the scenes insights into how his brother and family have been thrust into the national spotlight and where he and his brother disagree on the topic of vaccines and vaccine mandates!
God bless Senator Rand Paul and Isaac Lindenberger, Ethan Lindenberger‘s older brother. Whatever you might say about the long, otherwise boring Senate hearing on vaccines, Rand and Isaac stole the show. Rand Paul denounced vaccine mandates as a “false sense of security” and said that vaccines were probably the only medicine without informed consent. The room descended into applause and Isaac Lindenberger, a self-avowed libertarian, stood up to applaud Senator Paul’s remarks before being promptly seated by Capitol Police. – Jake Crosby
An experimental Swedish art project will pay you to do nothing for the rest of your life Imagine: For the rest of your life, you are assigned no tasks at work. You can watch movies, read books, work on creative projects or just sleep. In fact, the only thing that you have to do is clock in and out every day. Since the position is permanent, you’ll never need to worry about getting another job again. Starting in 2026, this will be one lucky (or extremely bored) worker’s everyday reality, thanks to a government-funded conceptual art project in Gothenburg, Sweden. The employee in question will report to Korsvägen, a train station under construction in the city, and will receive a salary of about $2,320 a month in U.S. dollars, plus annual wage increases, vacation time off and a pension for retirement. While the artists behind the project won’t be taking applications until 2025, when the station will be closer to opening, a draft of the help-wanted ad is already available online, as Atlas Obscura reported on Monday.
