Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
DOJ Scrambles to Find Non-Existent Evidence of ‘Intent’ Under pressure from President Biden to find a way to prevent Donald Trump from becoming America’s 47th President of the United States, Attorney General Merrick Garland unleashed an army of FBI agents to scour Mar-a-Lago in search of something, anything that might fill in the enormous gap in DOJ’s case against the former president: The glaring absence of evidence of specific intent needed to bring any charge against former President Trump. While DOJ can snow a grand jury into believing lame evidence credible and succeed in indicting just about anyone (not difficult when the prosecution runs the show unopposed), it cannot be sure of a conviction from a court without evidence beyond a reasonable doubt of the specific intent necessary to prove its case. That evidence rarely exists and proof of it is, indeed, a very tall order. Short of planting evidence or making things up (in other words committing the kind of government corruption and fraud as occurred in the deceitful manipulation of evidence by DOJ and FBI in support of the Russia hoax or, more recently, in the FBI fabricated Whitmer kidnapping plot), DOJ is destined to hit a very high, virtually impenetrable burden of proof that will dash its partisan dreams to pieces.
Team Trump: ‘Bye Bye, Liz Cheney’ Former President Donald Trump reveled in the loss of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Tuesday night after she lost her primary in the state of Wyoming. “Bye bye, Liz Cheney,” Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich wrote on social media, sharing a video highlight clip of the former president dancing. Trump was more specific on social media, congratulating Cheney’s opponent Harriet Hageman on her win in the primary. “This is a wonderful result for America, and a complete rebuke of the Unselect Committee of political Hacks and Thugs,” he wrote. Despite the Cheney family embracing Trump to promote Liz Cheney’s political career, they ultimately turned on the former president and embraced the Washington establishment. Trump appeared ecstatic about Liz Cheney’s projected loss. “Now she can finally disappear into the depths of political oblivion where, I am sure, she will be much happier than she is right now,” he wrote. “Thank you WYOMING!” Other members of Team Trump hearkened back to Cheney’s defiant challenge to the former president to “bring it” when he endorsed her challenger.
Joe Biden Signs $430 Billion Climate and Health Care Spending Bill to ‘Fight Inflation’ President Joe Biden signed a $430 billion climate spending bill on Tuesday, insisting it would fight inflation. “We’re cutting deficits to fight inflation by having the wealthy and big corporations finally pay their fair share,” Biden said at the signing ceremony at the White House. The bill raises the corporate minimum tax to 15 percent and spends more money on bolstering the ability of the IRS to enforce taxes. Biden admitted he had waited a long time to finally sign the bill that began as his multi-trillion dollar “Build Back Better” agenda before senators in his own part rejected it. The bill spends $386 billion on green energy subsidies and tax credits and spends $98 billion on propping up Medicare. “Now I’m going to take action that I’ve been looking forward to doing for eighteen months,” he said after his speech, moving to the signing table. The president pointedly gave his signing pen to Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and shook his hand, despite the early role the West Virginia senator had in blocking his proposals. Biden promoted the bill as a major success and even implicitly criticized the media for their skepticism about getting his agenda passed. He said: Today, too often we confuse noise with substance. Too often, we confuse setbacks with defeat, too often we hand the biggest microphones to the critics and the cynics, who delight in declaring failure while those committed to real progress do the hard work of governing.
Fact Check: Joe Biden Falsely Claims Working, Middle Class Will Not ‘Pay a Penny More’ as Result of IRS Audits CLAIM: While signing the “Inflation Reduction Act” into law on Tuesday, President Joe Biden said no Americans “earning less than $400,000 a year will pay a penny more in federal taxes” as a result of billions to drastically boost Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits. VERDICT: False. The Inflation Reduction Act does not include any provisions requiring the IRS to avoid targeting working and middle class Americans with new IRS audits. In fact, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that about $20 billion will be squeezed from Americans earning less than $400,000 a year as a result of the audits. “I’m keeping my campaign commitment. No one … no one earning less than $400,000 a year will pay a penny more in federal taxes,” Biden said, referencing his 2020 campaign talking point that vowed not to raise taxes on working and middle class Americans. Despite the claim, Senate Democrats made sure to vote down Sen. Mike Crapo’s (R-ID) amendment to the Inflation Reduction Act that would have barred the IRS from targeting working and middle class Americans with the $80 billion that the plan includes for new audits. The CBO estimates that the new IRS audits will take at least $20 billion from working and middle class Americans earning less than $400,000 a year, which is in addition to the billions already taken from this income group.
Why Give the Nobel to WHO When Xi Jinping Inspired the Global Lockdowns? According to odds placed by bookmakers, the World Health Organization is a current frontrunner to win this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts in the fight against Covid-19. But this would be a terrible mistake by the Nobel Committee, upon whom it is incumbent to ensure credit is given where it’s due. In fact, as had been meticulously recorded for posterity in Snake Oil: How Xi Jinping Shut Down the World, virtually every policy the WHO implemented in response to Covid—from the lockdowns and ventilators to the mass testing and vaccine passes—was actually taken from the mind of a far more deserving candidate: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party. As reported by the New York Times, Xi personally oversaw the “unprecedented lockdown of Wuhan and other cities” in January 2020, which the WHO agreed was “new to science” and “unprecedented in public health history.” Days later, WHO Director Tedros Adhanom personally praised Xi’s unprecedented lockdown, long before it achieved any “results.” Weeks later, the WHO’s Assistant Director-General Bruce Aylward reported back from Beijing, ignoring several glaring logical fallacies in order to rubber stamp Xi’s lockdowns into global “public health” policy. It may be tempting to give the WHO credit for its guidance on mechanical ventilators which, in the early months of the crisis, killed thousands of patients, resulting in a 97.2% mortality rate among those over age 65 before a grassroots campaign put a stop to the practice. But upon examining the WHO’s guidance, it’s again clear that the WHO took this advice straight from Chinese journal articles which stated that “Chinese expert consensus” called for “invasive mechanical ventilation” as the “first choice” for people with respiratory distress—in part to protect medical staff.
