Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:

Sacred Fire of Liberty!

It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:

Joe Biden Keeps Mask Mandates for Americans Traveling, Ends Coronavirus Restrictions for Border Crossers President Joe Biden’s administration is extending the federal mask mandate for Americans traveling on commercial buses and flights while carrying out plans to end Chinese coronavirus restrictions for border crossers and illegal aliens. On Wednesday, Biden’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that the federal transportation mask mandate — which has been in place since 2020 — will remain in effect for at least two more weeks. “CDC continues to monitor the spread of the Omicron variant, especially the BA.2 subvariant that now makes up more than 85 percent of United States cases,” the agency wrote in a statement: Since early April, there have been increases in the seven-day moving average of cases in the U.S. The CDC Mask Order remains in effect while CDC assesses the potential impact of the rise of cases on severe disease, including hospitalizations and deaths, and healthcare system capacity. TSA will extend the security directive and emergency amendment for 15 days, through May 3, 2022. [Emphasis added] At the same time, Biden’s CDC is officially ending the Title 42 public health authority on May 23. The authority, first imposed by former President Donald Trump, allows federal immigration officials to quickly return illegal aliens to their native countries to protect Americans from illnesses, diseases, and viruses like coronavirus.

California Bill Would Allow Doctors to Lose Licenses over COVID ‘Misinformation or Disinformation’ A new bill under consideration by the California State Legislature would allow the state’s medical board to discipline doctors who provide what is considered “misinformation or disinformation” about COVID-19 — and even strip them of their licenses. The bill, AB 2098, introduced in February, “would designate the dissemination or promotion of misinformation or disinformation related to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, or ‘COVID-19,’ as unprofessional conduct. The bill would require the board to consider specified factors prior to bringing a disciplinary action against a physician and surgeon. The bill would also make findings and declarations in this regard.” According to one law firm that represents physicians in disciplinary proceedings in California, if a doctor is found to have committed professional misconduct, “the minimum penalty is a stayed revocation with 5 years of license probation, with a maximum penalty of revocation.” Stanford Medical School Professor Jay Bhattacharya, one of the co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, which favores “Focused Protection” over lockdowns during COVID surges, wrote at Bari Weiss’s Substack site that the California bill mirrors the way communist China has treated physicians merely for telling the truth about the coronavirus:

Biden’s approval craters at 33%: Just 26% of independents approve of his job in the White House, 39% back his handling of Ukraine and 68% says U.S. should be doing MORE to stop Putin’s forces killing civilians in yet another shocking poll President Joe Biden‘s approval rating stands at 33 per cent among American adults in a Quinnipiac University Poll released Wednesday.    This is the second time Biden has been rated this low in this particular survey, with the first time occurring in January.  The Democratic president is seen in a drastically different light depending on respondents’ political affiliation, with independents giving him an approval rating of 26 per cent. Seventy-six per cent of Democrats, on the other hand, approve of the job Biden is doing, while just 12 per cent disapprove. At the same time, just 3 per cent of Republicans surveyed approve of the job Biden is doing, while a whopping 94 per cent disapprove. Among the smaller group of registered voters, Biden’s approval rating stands at 35 per cent. Biden gets graded slightly higher when Americans were asked specifically about his handling of Russia’s invasion into Ukraine. Thirty-nine per cent of Americans said they approved of Biden’s handling of the response, while another 48 per cent disapprove.

The FDA’s Food Failure By the time FDA officials figured out it was spinach that was making people sick in 10 states – sending three people into kidney failure – it was too late. It was mid-November 2021 and the packaged salad’s short shelf life had passed. There was no recall. By the time FDA officials got inspectors on the ground, spinach season was over. The fields and the production facilities were empty, which made it impossible to pinpoint the source of contamination. Whatever caused the outbreak was likely never fixed. This wasn’t supposed to happen. It’s been more than 11 years since Congress passed a sweeping food safety law designed to prevent this type of health risk. In that time, FDA has failed to put in place safety standards for the water used to grow fresh produce, as mandated by that law, despite knowing that water is one of the main ways fresh fruits and vegetables become contaminated with deadly pathogens. Congress has ramped up FDA funding over the past decade, but deadly outbreaks keep happening and it often takes the agency too long to respond. Many consumers would be surprised to learn this anemic, slow response is typical for an agency that oversees nearly 80 percent of the American food supply, but slow is what insiders in Washington have come to expect from FDA, regardless of administration. A monthslong POLITICO investigation found that regulating food is simply not a high priority at the agency, where drugs and other medical products dominate, both in budget and bandwidth – a dynamic that’s only been exacerbated during the pandemic. Over the years, the food side of FDA has been so ignored and grown so dysfunctional that even former FDA commissioners readily acknowledged problems in interviews.

Why Utah weathered COVID better than any other US state – and why New Jersey fared worst: Bombshell study proves just how dangerous draconian lockdowns were for America – and why red state governors were RIGHT to resist them A new study argues that Utah performed the best during the pandemic, and New Jersey the worst, suggesting that harsh economic restrictions to contain viral outbreaks were a failed strategy. The working paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) assessed all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on three variables: the economy, education policy, and mortality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Utah, led by Republican Governor Stephen Cox, performed well in all three categories and ranked first by a considerable margin, by keeping schools and businesses open while suffering a fairly low mortality rate. Meanwhile New Jersey, with Democrat Phil Murphy in the governor’s office, ranked at the bottom of the list, performing dismally on the economy and lost in-person school days while suffering one of the worst mortality rates among the states, with 380 COVID deaths per 100,000 population, versus 253 in Utah. While the study’s authors presented their raw data without any specific policy conclusions, the findings are damning for states that imposed harsh lockdowns, which appear to have had little health benefit. ‘The correlation between health and economy scores is essentially zero,’ say the authors, ‘which suggests that states that withdrew the most from economic activity did not significantly improve health by doing so.’

White House Refuses to Take Responsibility for Historic Inflation: We Had to Spend Trillions to Prevent Economic Spiral The White House on Wednesday rejected the idea that President Joe Biden was wrong to spend trillions of dollars after taking office, despite historic levels of inflation that followed. White House press secretary Jen Psaki blamed inflation on the pandemic, snarled supply chains, and Russian President Vladimir Putin for forcing energy prices higher by invading Ukraine. She dismissed critics of Biden’s expansive spending like former Secretary of the Treasury for then-President Barack Obama Larry Summers. “The alternative would have been that we would have gone into a massive economic downward spiral and many Americans would have not have enough food to put on the table,” she said. Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus spending bill was joined with the president’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, marking historic spending for his first year of office. Since Biden first took office, Summers warned that the president’s multi-trillion dollar rescue plan would lead to devastating inflation rates that would overheat the economy and damage Democrats politically. A paper from the San Francisco Federal Reserve also pointed to Biden’s multi-trillion dollar spending plans for causing inflation.

Hour 2

Special Guest Karen Mueller

Attorney Karen Mueller is the founder and general counsel for Amos Center for Justice and Liberty. This non-profit public law firm was borne out of the understanding and need that our Constitutional rights were being quickly eroded and there appeared to be few who were standing in the gap for freedom.
The Amos Center for Justice and Liberty defends the federal and state constitutional rights of people. They work to vindicate the rights of those who have experienced a violation of one or more of their liberties by governmental agents, or by private actors working in concert with the government to carry out the work, purposes, or goals of government to the detriment of its citizens.

Comment of The Day!

Hello Super D,  I have some comments about food and gardening.  Robert, you should stop giving Don a hard time about dirt under his fingernails.  I can’t stand to have dirt under my fingernails, that is what gardening gloves are for!

You recently had a guest in who mentioned growing what would give you the most nutrition for the amount of space (land).  The clear winner of that contest is microgreens.  Ounce for ounce they can have 40 times or more the amount of nutrients in the mature version of the same vegetable.  They don’t give you the calories but they are superstars when it comes to nutrition.  RSB also says that when you are hungry it isn’t the time to start growing food.  So true, but you can have a harvest of microgreens in 6 to 10 days.  Of course sprouts would be quicker but that is another discussion.  RSB also had a guest (I think it was health freedom Idaho) who mentioned that they would have a microgreen vendor in their event expo.

Microgreens are truly a crop that anyone in any shape with no land can grow.

My husband and I have a part time microgreen business serving local restaurants and a farmer’s market. I have a comment about Robert’s
“Farm to table”  experience.  I am all for the concept.  There are truly some restaurants that source locally from farms.  Let’s face it, all food comes from a farm.  To a chef, everything is a farm (until we get lab grown food).  The term farm is as undefined as the term natural.  I’ve been in these restaurant kitchens and the Sysco truck is right behind me delivering to the chef.

I would suggest a couple of tips to tell if a restaurant is farm to table the way we want the term to mean.  First casually ask the server who some of their local farm suppliers are. Second, if you see things on the  menu that are not “in season” for that area, that is a red flag.  Growers can do a lot with hoop houses and green houses but the amounts of those items will be limited off season.  Third, look for a menu that is very fluid.  Stuff happens on a farm and a an ever changing menu suggests that a chef is working with local farmers and the inevitable challenges (usually weather) they experience in getting crops to the end user.  Look for a chalk board or dry erase menu rather than printed, laminated menus.  Lastly, the best sign of a farm to table restaurant is that they have crops growing on the grounds, in season, of course.

All for now,

Loralie
