Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
Kaine Supports Authoritarian Violations of Patient and Catholic Parishioners’ Rights Virginia Senator Tim Kaine distinguished himself this past month as a defender of authoritarianism with two moves that undermine the rights of Americans. The first is his opposition to Ron Johnson’s bill, S.444, that would prevent the Biden Administration from unilaterally adopting (without required Senate advice and consent) World Health Authority amendments that threaten to increase WHO authority and influence over U.S. pandemic response. The second is his defense of a rogue (indeed, bonkers) FBI Richmond Division leaked memo that called for informants to be placed in Catholic Latin Masses in Virginia on the theory that those Catholics might induce other Catholics to become white supremacists, another outlandish abuse of power analogous to Attorney General Merrick Garland’s FBI targeting of Loudoun County parents protesting school board meetings. Kaine helped tank the crucial Johnson bill, S. 444, which would “require any convention, agreement, or other international instrument or pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response reached by the World Health Assembly to be subject to Senate ratification.” Kaine rose in opposition on the Senate floor, not engaging the bill’s merits, but misleadingly suggesting that the underlying measure concerning repeal of 1991 and 2002 Iraq War authorizations would not be considered if the Johnson amendment passed.
NEW POLL: Whopping 70 Percent Think Biden Shouldn’t Run Again, Days Before He’s Set to Announce Reelection President Joe Biden may be 48 hours away from announcing his reelection bid. But nearly 3 out of 4 Americans are hoping he has a last-minute change of heart. According to a new poll out Sunday from NBC News, 70 percent of Americans do not want Biden to run for a second term, compared to only 26 percent who do. Among those who don’t want the 80-year-old president to pursue a second term, 69 percent cite age as a reason why, with 48 percent calling it a “major” reason. Worse yet for Biden, the new survey shows him facing a steep uphill climb in a general election. The NBC poll shows 41 percent of Americans plan to vote for Biden in 2024, compared to 47 percent who say they will back the Republican nominee. If there is a silver lining to the dismal numbers for Biden, it’s that he is still more popular than his most likely 2024 opponent. In all, 38 percent have a positive view of Joe Biden, compared to 48 percent who have a negative view. And while those numbers might ordinarily spell doom for an incumbent seeking a second term, they are significantly better than those of former President Donald Trump — about whom just 34 percent of Americans hold a positive view, compared to 53 percent who have a negative view.
President Biden announces 2024 campaign despite low support from his own party President Biden announced he is running for a second term as president official on Tuesday despite nearly half of Americans who voted for him in 2020 saying he should not run again. Biden’s campaign launch comes on the four-year anniversary of the launch of his 2020 campaign for president, and is expected to be done via a campaign video, according to reports last week. A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Monday, which surveyed an equal amount of voters who backed Biden and former President Trump last cycle, found that about 40% of individuals who voted for Biden in the 2020 presidential election do not think he should seek re-election next cycle. About 35% of respondents said they would vote for a third-party candidate over Biden in 2024, even if it meant Trump was more likely to win the election. Speculation swirled for months over whether Biden, who is 80, would run for re-election, with his team only saying he “intendeds to run,” but not making any other statements in the affirmative. He said earlier this month, however, that an announcement about his potential candidacy would come “relatively soon.” Biden sent out exclusive invitations to some of his top donors from the 2020 campaign last week, asking them to attend a hastily-planned event at the White House, according to The New York Times.
Government Censorship of Natural Health Products on the Rise Hundreds of letters have been sent to natural products companies warning them that if they fall afoul of the FTC’s ridiculous rules by sharing information that can benefit your health, there will be hell to pay. Action Alert! Once again, the government is trying to limit your access to the information we have about the benefits of natural products. The FTC sent letters to 670 companies, including those selling dietary supplements, homeopathic products, and functional foods, warning them that if they make claims without proper scientific substantiation, they will face large civil penalties—up to $50,120 per violation. This unprecedented move is a warning shot to the natural health industry signaling that we’re entering a new era of enforcement in which the government will be even more aggressive than it has been in censoring speech about the benefits of natural products. We must push back. This is a complex issue that is quite technical, but what we’re facing is a government-led campaign to conceal the remarkable truth about the healing and disease-preventing powers of foods and nutrients, ultimately misleading the public so that they spend their money on drugs rather than natural supplements. The crux of the issue is that the FTC, in conjunction with the FDA, is trying to impose drug standards on supplements, requiring expensive clinical trials in order for supplement companies to make most health claims. Not only are clinical trials often inappropriate for studying nutrients, they are not economically feasible. As we’ve explained many times, clinical trials are incredibly expensive. Drug companies can afford them because drugs are patentable and the costs can be recouped when the drug is approved and sold for exorbitant prices.
Analysis: Biden Projected to Bring over 2 Million Illegal Aliens to U.S. this Year Likely more than two million border crossers and illegal aliens are expected to be encountered at the United States-Mexico border by the end of September, a new analysis projects. In President Joe Biden’s first year in office, Steven Kopits with Princeton Policy Advisors accurately projected that about two million border crossers and illegal aliens would be encountered along the southern border. Likewise, in 2022, Kopits correctly projected that more than 2.3 million border crossers and illegal aliens would be encountered at the border, for a total of about 4.2 million border encounters in Biden’s first two years, with millions of those being released into the U.S. interior. For fiscal year 2023, which ends in September, Kopits estimates that more than two million border crossers and illegal aliens will have been encountered at the border — slightly down from his prior projection showing 2.7 million may be encountered. “… [O]ur forecast for Fiscal Year 2023 apprehensions still constitutes the second worst year on record, better only than last year,” Kopits writes, calling the projected mass migration “still dreadful.” That projection, Kopits suggests, is likely to rise as the Biden administration tests a host of Catch and Release programs like the Customs and Border Protection One (CBP One) mobile app which allows foreign nationals to schedule appointments at the border for release into the U.S. interior. Biden is set to have about 30,000 foreign nationals released into the U.S. interior every month via the migrant mobile app, and already more than 30,000 have been released since the app’s start date in mid-January.

‘Huge Grab of Power’: UK Parliament Member Warns Against WHO Pandemic Treaty, IHR Amendments Andrew Bridgen, a U.K. member of Parliament this month warned his fellow parliamentarians that the World Health Organization’s (WHO) proposed new pandemic treaty and amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) represents “a huge grab of power” by “unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats.” The WHO is promoting a pandemic treaty and IHR amendments to its existing members to increase the global health organization’s power during health emergencies. In Bridgen’s 18-minute speech — since viewed by almost 100,000 people — delivered April 17 during a parliamentary debate, Bridgen called for a referendum, or public vote, on the WHO’s proposals. People in the U.K. “do not want to be ruled” by an unelected group of people, Bridgen said. “We should have a referendum, because sovereignty belongs to the people. It’s not ours to give away.” The debate was triggered after 156,086 U.K. constituents signed a petition calling for the U.K. government “to commit to not signing any international treaty on pandemic prevention and preparedness established by the WHO, unless this is approved through a public referendum.” Bridgen pointed out that WHO employees are exempt from taxes and have diplomatic immunity — meaning they are protected from prosecution. He said the WHO pandemic treaty and its IHR amendments seek to take “huge powers” away from “this Parliament and every other Parliament around the world.”
The covid public health emergency is ending: it now joins the ordinary emergency that is American health On 10 April 2023, the US President Joe Biden signed into law a resolution terminating the covid-19 national emergency. Though the virus remains a leading cause of death in the US, the administration will disband its covid response team next month.12 These decisions came with very little fanfare, especially given Biden’s repeated promises to end the pandemic. Indeed, many Americans who witnessed the declaration of the public health emergency in March 2020 are not here to see its end. The US has buried more than 1.1 million Americans—more casualties than in almost any other country.34 For three years running, covid has been our nation’s third leading cause of death. In recent months, the Biden Administration has pointed to falling covid death rates as a sign that the emergency is over.6 It’s true that covid deaths have declined from the peaks of more than 3,000 daily deaths in winter 2021.7 Yet, even as covid fatalities finally subside to weekly lows under 1,500 per week, covid is on track to become the 9th leading cause of death in the US.8 Now, with the end of the public health emergency on 10 April, covid has simply joined the ordinary emergency that is American health. Following the end of the public health emergency, Americans will continue living sicker, shorter lives than our counterparts in other high income countries. Even before the pandemic, the US spent more on healthcare as a share of its economy while lagging behind most other peer countries in life expectancy, chronic disease burden, and preventable deaths.9 Study after study has revealed unequal access to healthcare—and to the conditions necessary for healthy lives—as the defining features of the American health landscape.
Utah Woman Is First to Sue Merck Alleging Gardasil HPV Vaccine Caused Cervical Cancer A lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court alleges Merck’s Gardasil human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine caused a young Utah woman to develop cervical cancer and other injuries. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Caroline Cantera, 25, by Wisner Baum (formerly Baum Hedlund Aristei & Goldman), is the first lawsuit to allege Gardasil can cause cervical cancer — the very cancer Merck asserts Gardasil prevents. Cantera alleges New Jersey-based Merck & Co., Inc., and subsidiary Merck Sharp & Dohme oversold Gardasil as a “cervical cancer vaccine” and downplayed known health risks to enhance sales. Cantera’s attorneys filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina as part of the Gardasil multidistrict litigation (MDL). Dozens of federal Gardasil injury cases filed throughout the country have been consolidated in North Carolina. According to the complaint, Merck never studied whether Gardasil prevents cervical cancer. Instead, the drugmaker tested Gardasil to determine if it could prevent the development of certain lesions, some of which are considered related to cancer — even though a majority of such lesions, even the most serious, regress on their own. Public health officials have long recommended the Pap test as the most effective frontline public health response to prevent cervical cancer. Long before Gardasil was introduced to the market in 2006, cervical cancer rates had been plummeting by up to 80% with the implementation of routine Pap testing.
Hay fever could be linked to our gut and nose bacteria, and probiotics may help symptoms For many people, spring has brought with it the dreaded symptoms of hay fever, such as itchy eyes, sneezing and a stuffy nose. Hay fever is common, affecting up to 42% of people. It occurs when the immune system overreacts to allergens including pollen. Research suggests there could be a link between hay fever and the microbiome, the collection of microorganisms that live in and on our bodies. Specifically, the composition of a person’s gut and nasal microbiomes may play a role in the development of hay fever symptoms. By exploring this connection, we can identify potential alternative treatments that may help reduce the effects of hay fever on people’s daily lives. Studies have shown that people with hay fever often have a less diverse gut microbiome compared to those without the condition. Reduced diversity of gut bacteria can lead to an imbalance in the microbiome, and result in higher levels of inflammation (the body’s immune response to irritants, such as an allergens). So the fact that reduced diversity of gut bacteria can lead to an increased risk of hay fever makes sense since the gut microbiome plays a key role in regulating the immune system, and we know the immune system influences allergies. The gut microbiome is thought to affect immune system function in several ways, including through the production of short-chain fatty acids. These are produced by gut bacteria during the fermentation of dietary fiber (a part of normal digestion).
Question of The Day!
Hey Robert,
Our grandchildren, ages 4 & 2, have colds and a cough. Is it ok to nebulize the Sovereign Silver for them? If so how much? No fever.
Thanks
