Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
Nancy Pelosi Moves to Bar Lawmakers Who Fail to Wear Masks from Committee Meetings House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) this week has reportedly asked committee chairs to “enforce rules of decorum and exclude members who fail to comply” with the guidance requiring masks in committee meetings.Attending Physician Brian Monahan in a recent memo touted the effectiveness of masks and stated that “in a limited enclosed space, such as a committee hearing room, for greater than 15 minutes, face coverings are REQUIRED.”According to the Hill, the guidance was “requested” by the Speaker, who has reportedly asked committee chairs to enforce the rule.“This requirement will be enforced by the Sergeant at Arms and noncompliant members will be denied entry,” a senior Democratic aide told the Hill, adding that lawmakers are free to attend hearings virtually.Pelosi’s enforcement coincides with her string of criticisms of the president, who has received backlash from progressives and establishment media outlets for opting to resume his rallies. Many of the politicians and outlets criticizing him have, notably, praised protesters who have taken to the streets by the hundreds — and in some cases thousands — in recent weeks.
FDA Warns Four Manufacturers of Unapproved Injectable Drugs Labeled as Homeopathic The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued warning letters to four companies for selling unapproved injectable drug products labeled as homeopathic that can pose serious risks to patient health and violate federal law, as part of the agency’s efforts to protect Americans from potentially harmful products that are labeled as homeopathic. The FDA is particularly concerned about unapproved injectable drug products labeled as homeopathic because they are injected directly into the body, often directly into the bloodstream and bypass some of the body’s key natural defenses against toxins, toxic ingredients and dangerous organisms that can cause serious and life-threatening harm. Additionally, unapproved drugs that claim to cure, treat or prevent serious conditions may cause consumers to delay or stop medical treatments that have been found safe and effective through the FDA review process.“The FDA’s drug approval requirements are designed to protect patients by ensuring, among other things, that drugs are safe and effective for their intended uses. These unapproved injectable drugs are particularly concerning because they inherently present greater risks to patients because of how they are administered,” said Donald D. Ashley, director of the Office of Compliance in the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. “These products are further concerning given that they are labeled to contain potentially toxic ingredients intended for injection directly into the body. These warning letters reflect our continued commitment to patient safety.”
Republicans move to revoke Big Tech’s ‘free pass to censor and silence’ conservatives Republican lawmakers on Wednesday introduced legislation aimed at fighting what they see as anti-conservative bias on Google and other social media.GOP senators introduced legislation to strip Big Tech of liability protections and hit the companies with $5,000 fines for unfair treatment. In another swipe, Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, sent a letter to Google warning of repercussions if the company follows through with a threat to punish conservative website The Federalist over its content. The Cruz letter and the proposed legislation take aim at Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which has long shielded internet companies from legal liability for material that users post on their sites.“For too long, Big Tech companies like Twitter, Google and Facebook have used their power to silence political speech from conservatives without any recourse for users,” said Sen. Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican who introduced the legislation to remove the lawsuit protections and impose fines.“Section 230 has been stretched and rewritten by courts to give these companies outlandish power over speech without accountability.
Civil war looms, statistics and survey say Almost a third of U.S. voters believe a civil war is on its way — a bleak commentary on the growing tensions around the country due to coronavirus shutdowns and police policies that have manifested in destruction and defacement of historical monuments and memorials, anarchist takeovers of city streets and riotous uprisings.By the numbers, it’s 34% of likely voters who think civil war beckons — 40% of Republicans, Rasmussen Reports finds. These findings are entirely believable. The chaos in America’s streets is something that’s been brewing for some time — and we’re due for explosion.“This Researcher Predicted 2020 Would Be Mayhem,” Time magazine just wrote. “Here’s What He Says May Come Next.”His name is Peter Turchin, he’s a researcher and cultural evolution teacher at the University of Connecticut and a decade ago, he offered up a historical analysis of how America, circa 21st century, circa 2020 and beyond, might look — and it wasn’t pretty. It was filled with social upheavals, he predicted, initially in the journal Nature. He was right.“As a scientist,” he said, in Time, “I feel vindicated. But on the other hand, I am an American and have to live through these hard times.”He based his outlooks on historical truths of social turmoil, which he found occurs about every 50 years, and on computer modeling that took note of socioeconomic factors that came and went in line with the times of turmoil.
Donald Trump to Michael Savage: ‘This will be rigged election’ if Dems have way President Donald Trump in a one-on-one exclusive interview with talk radio great Michael Savage said that if Democrats have their way, the election this November will be “rigged,” and that it’s up to courts and citizens to stave off leftist pressures for massive mail-in voting.Democrats have indeed been on a tear lately to use the coronavirus as justification for launching mail-in voting rights.“Supervisor of Elections: No Postage Needed for Pasco Mail-In Voting,” Bay News Channel 9 reported, of Pasco County, Florida.“It’s another way election officials are trying to prepare for the election with the pandemic continuing,” Bay News wrote. This — as protesters-slash-rioters stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the streets, crying about fake systemic racism within police departments. This — as Democrat controlled communities allow non-social distancing looters to smash shop windows, set fire to police cruisers and beat and intimidate innocent elderly bystanders and citizens for the crime of, umm, what, being white? As Seattle thugs can take over whole sections of downtown, set up barricades, patrol armed guards to keep out police, and sit side-by-side, in close quarters on the pavement, hugging, holding hands, the coronavirus be danged. Where are the Democrats concerned about the spread of COVID-19?Busily passing mail-in voting rules, it would seem.Busily selling the public on the COVID-19 fear of going to the ballot boxes in person.
Seattle anarchists and their lunatic fringe list of demands Anarchists masquerading as social justice activists and George Floyd sympathizers who’ve taken over streets in Seattle and set up a Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, CHAZ, in which no police are allowed have a list of demands for local and state governing officials that clearly shows A) they’re unaccustomed to normal political bartering that includes give-and-take, concession for success, diplomacy as part and parcel of the dance — and B) they’re nutsAnd not just any old nuts. The kind of nuts that takes years to hone and develop.Meanwhile, America take note: the takeover of Seattle’s streets is just the beginning.Defund enough police, dismantle enough departments, handcuff — figuratively — enough law enforcement officers from doing their jobs and similar uprisings will come to communities near you. And me. And those of our children. These are not your peace-talking, peaceful-walking Martin Luther King, Jr., protesters. These are armed rebels, bent on toppling societal structures in order to usher in a new nation, one where chaos rules, lawlessness leads and anger feeds.“Activists take over a Seattle neighborhood, banishing the police,” The Washington Post reported“Seattle’s ‘autonomous zone’ has armed guards, local businesses being threatened with extortion, police say,” Fox News reported.
Court strikes down Trump rule that drugmakers disclose price In a major legal setback for President Donald Trump on a high-profile consumer issue, a federal appeals court has ruled that his administration lacks the legal authority to force drug companies to disclose prices in their TV ads.The ruling denies Trump an easy-to-understand win on a major reelection priority for the White House, bringing down the cost of prescription medicines. Where most plans to overhaul the cost of drugs are complex, mandating that companies disclose prices is something any consumer can relate to.Separate from the court case, legislation that would lower drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries with high bills is stuck in Congress. It’s unclear that Trump can get it moving, since it would require some hard compromises for both Republicans and Democrats. There’s also a separate bill that would mandate drug companies to disclose their prices in consumer advertisingTrump, however, is not empty-handed. His administration recently brokered an agreement with drug companies and insurers that would give Medicare recipients taking insulin the ability to limit their copays to $35 a month, starting next year.On TV ads, the unanimous decision by a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit did not address a core argument of the pharmaceutical industry, that forcing companies to disclose their prices in advertising violates their free speech rights. Instead the three-judge panel ruled that the Department of Health and Human Services overstepped its legal authority by requiring disclosure under the umbrella of its stewardship of Medicare and Medicaid.
Hour 2- Special Guest: Cordie Lee Williams
Born in Florence, Alabama, Dr. Cordie Williams grew up in Seattle, Washington. Following his high school graduation, he served in the United States Marine Corps, earning two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals during his four years there. Upon his honorable discharge, Dr. Williams completed a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of North Alabama. As a young child, Dr. Williams watched his grandfather Cordie Lee Mays pass away on machines as he fed him his last meal. In fact, he watched three of his four grandparents lose their battles with cancer under the medical paradigm – and then almost losing his mother in 2011. This ignited a lifelong passion in him to help people holistically. The trials and tribulations of sickness and loss, much like Dr. Tania Williams’s, only strengthened Dr. Williams his inner desire to help heal and educate society about the body’s innate and internal ability to heal itself. Dr. Williams started his clinical pathway towards becoming a holistic doctor by doing bodywork at Synergy Release Sports for a sports chiropractor, Dr. Michael Hatrak in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he came in contact with several world-renowned athletes in professional sports. As a result, Dr. Williams was fortunate to work with the likes of Brian Westbrook, Hines Ward, Jay Ratliff, Heather Mitts, Charlie Whitehurst, and many others. Soon after, Dr. Williams decided to further his passion in health and wellness by attending Life University in Marietta, Georgia. It was there that Cordie met his future wife, and after four years of dating, along with three holistic wellness based mission trips together, Drs. Cordie and Tania Williams not only decided to join hands in business, but also in marriage. They both strongly believe that families can help heal their bodies from anything – if the barriers preventing optimum health are removed. Health From Within Family Wellness is based on that philosophy – on the power that makes the body heals the body.
Coronavirus: why it’s dangerous to blindly ‘follow the science’ when there’s no consensus yet The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine are among the most influential scientific journals in the world. Both have recently had to retract studies on the effectiveness of COVID-19 treatments after doubts were raised about the underlying data. The scandal reveals the dangers of “fast science”.In the face of the virus emergency, research standards have been relaxed to encourage faster publication and mistakes become inevitable. This is risky. Ultimately, if expert advice on the pandemic turns out to be wrong, it will have dire consequences for how reliable scientific evidence is treated in other policy areas, such as climate change. The pandemic has become politicised, pitting smug liberals versus reckless conservatives. There’s also a move towards thinking about options in terms of science versus common sense. If we accept this framing, we risk causing people to believe that experts are no better than the rest of us at making predictions and providing explanations that can guide policy.
