Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:

Sacred Fire of Liberty!

It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:

Project Veritas Catches Facebook Employees, Contractors Admitting to Political Censorship James O’Keefe’s team of undercover journalists Project Veritas have released hidden camera footage of Facebook employees admitting to deliberate political bias, censorship of Trump supporters, as well as discrimination against conservative and white male employees. A Facebook insider, Ryan Hartwig, has also come forward to Project Veritas to give his account of bias and discrimination at the company. The hidden camera footage reveals a host of Facebook employees and contractors admitting to political bias. Steve Grimmett, team lead for content review at Facebook can be heard admitting that he lumps the MAGA movement in with “Nazis” and “Hitler.” Grimmett can be heard telling an undercover reporter that he monitors “hate organizations” including “Hitler, Nazis, MAGA, you know, proud boys, all that stuff all day long.”

With a jab at Trump, Pelosi unveils new ‘Obamacare’ bill Flicking a dismissive jab at President Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled a plan Wednesday to expand “Obamacare,” even as Trump’s administration is about to file arguments in a Supreme Court case to strike it down. Pelosi announced an upcoming floor vote on her measure, setting up a debate that will juxtapose the Democrats’ top policy issue, Trump’s unrelenting efforts to dismantle Obama’s legacy, and the untamed coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, the Trump administration is expected to file papers with the Supreme Court arguing that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional. Pelosi wants her bill on the House floor Monday. Trying to overturn a health insurance expansion providing coverage to about 20 million people “was wrong any time,” Pelosi said. “Now, it is beyond stupid,” she added. “Beyond stupid.” COVID-19 cases are rising in major states like Texas, Florida and California, and millions of workers who have lost coverage in the economic shutdown to contain the virus can rely on the health law as a backup

Democrats block Republican policing bill, setting up partisan gridlock The rush to overhaul America’s police forces ran into partisan gridlock Wednesday on Capitol Hill, where Democrats mounted a filibuster to prevent the Senate from taking up a bill, wagering they can use the issue against Republicans in November’s elections. GOP lawmakers urged the Senate to at least begin debating the matter, saying even if Democrats didn’t like the bill written by Sen. Tim Scott, the only Black Republican in the chamber, there would be time for amendments. Democrats said Mr. Scott’s bill, heavy on incentives but light on mandates for state and local police, didn’t go far enough to be worth starting the debate. They led a filibuster, leaving Republicans four votes shy of the 60 needed to begin action. Mr. Scott denounced the blockade, saying it is squandering a pivotal moment to make progress on the race conversation that has engulfed the nation for the past month. “It’s one of the reasons why communities of color, young Americans of all colors, are losing faith in the institutions of authority and power in this nation — because we’re playing small ball,” the South Carolina senator said. “The actual problem is not what is being offered. It’s who is offering it.”

‘Not as long as I’m here’: Trump rejects monument destruction, pins ‘mob rule’ on Democrats President Trump and Republican allies are seizing on the defense of monuments and statues as a campaign strategy aimed at portraying Democrats as tolerating “mob rule,” even hoping that the issue of lawlessness and crime in cities across the U.S. will serve as a wedge between Black voters and the Democratic Party. Speaking about the movement to pull down statues of historical figures in numerous cities, including Washington, the president on Wednesday vowed, “It’s not going to happen, not as long as I’m here.” He added. “As far as Democrats are concerned, I think they could care less whether or not it happens.” Republican attorney general candidates nationwide are joining the president in a campaign chorus demanding that Democratic governors and mayors restore law and order after the looting, destruction and violent protests over racial justice and police brutality. In Washington, a showdown was looming between the administration and protesters who were vowing to tear down a statue near the Capitol of Lincoln emancipating slaves. Republican operatives say the strategy favors the president in his battle with presumed Democratic nominee Joseph R. Biden after turbulent months with COVID-19 and economic shutdowns. “The longer this goes on, the better off Trump is in terms of his campaign prospects,” said Republican strategist Ford O’Connell. “People won’t stomach property destruction, defacing property and arson for a long period of time.”

Faces of the conquerors’: Trump trip to Rushmore draws fire President Donald Trump’s plans to kick off Independence Day with a showy display at Mount Rushmore are drawing sharp criticism from Native Americans who view the monument as a desecration of land violently stolen from them and used to pay homage to leaders hostile to native people. Several groups led by Native American activists are planning protests for Trump’s July 3 visit, part of Trump’s “comeback” campaign for a nation reeling from sickness, unemployment and, recently, social unrest. The event is slated to include fighter jets thundering over the 79-year-old stone monument in South Dakota’s Black Hills and the first fireworks display at the site since 2009.Several groups led by Native American activists are planning protests for Trump’s July 3 visit, part of Trump’s “comeback” campaign for a nation reeling from sickness, unemployment and, recently, social unrest. The event is slated to include fighter jets thundering over the 79-year-old stone monument in South Dakota’s Black Hills and the first fireworks display at the site since 2009. But it comes amid a national reckoning over racism and a reconsideration of the symbolism of monuments around the globe. Many Native American activists say the Rushmore memorial is as reprehensible as the many Confederate monuments being toppled around the nation.

U.S. Marshals told to prepare to help protect monuments nationwide as Trump targets people who vandalize structures during protests U.S. Marshals have been told they should prepare to help protect national monuments across the country, according to an email directive viewed by The Washington Post, as President Donald Trump has vowed stern punishment for those who vandalize or destroy such structures as part of police violence protests. In an email, Marshals Assistant Director Andrew Smith wrote that the service “has been asked to immediately prepare to provide federal law enforcement support to protect national monuments (throughout the country).” “This is a challenging assignment due to the breadth of possible targets for criminal activity,” Smith wrote. He said the Marshals Incident Management Team would start a Joint Operations Center in Springfield, Va., to coordinate, and every deputy in the Special Operations Group would be made available to help as soon as Thursday. He also asked other districts and divisions to identify people they might be able to lend to the effort until July 8. On Monday, protesters attempted to topple a statue of President Andrew Jackson in a park next to the White House, though police in riot gear intervened and stopped them. That night, Trump tweeted his dismay, and the next morning he wrote that he had “authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent…..”

White House wins ruling on health care price disclosure The Trump administration won a court ruling Tuesday upholding its plan to require hospitals and insurers to disclose the actual prices for common tests and procedures in a bid to promote competition and push down costs. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar called the decision in federal court in Washington, D.C., “a resounding victory” for President Donald Trump‘s efforts to open up the convoluted world of health care pricing so patients and families can make better-informed decisions about their care. “This may very well be bigger than healthcare itself,” Trump tweeted Tuesday, on the ruling. “Congratulations America!” But the American Hospital Association, which sued to block the Trump administration regulation and was on the losing side, announced it would appeal. Industry argues that forcing the disclosure of prices negotiated between hospitals and insurers amounts to coercion. That means the decision by U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols may not be the final word. “American patients deserve to be in control of their healthcare,” Azar said in a statement. “Especially when patients are seeking needed care during a public health emergency, it is more important than ever that they have ready access to the actual prices of health care services.”

Hour 2

Bill Gates: Philanthropist or Scoundrel? He has already subjected America’s children to educational quackery as the main sponsor of Common Core, and he has gathered more data on you and every American than you could imagine. Now, as this article will show, one of the world’s leading population-control zealots wants to inject you, your whole family, and every single person on the entire planet with an as-yet undeveloped and untested vaccine — supposedly to protect against coronavirus. Then he wants to track you using technology that sounds like it comes out of a science fiction movie. And unless and until everybody on Earth submits to his vaccination demands, the technocratic globalist has declared repeatedly, society cannot and will not return to normal. That man, of course, is Microsoft founder Bill Gates — perhaps one of the most controversial people in the world right now, despite media adulation. With all Gates’ connections, media appearances, and demands, one might be forgiven for thinking that he was emperor of the world. And if humanity is not careful, the agenda Gates represents may well succeed — potentially in the near term. That means liberty, health freedom, the family, self-government, much of the population, and the economy are in mortal danger.

What If I Trust Science and Don’t Trust Dr. Fauci? I wanted to trust Dr. Anthony Fauci. I really did. Early in the pandemic, I took the advice of Dr. Drew Pinsky and listened to what he said. Maybe I listened too closely. Lockdowns leave a person a lot of free time, and a Google machine and keyboard are an excellent way to pass the time. This week on a Department of Health and Human Services podcast, Dr. Fauci made the following comment:

“One of the problems we face in the United States is that unfortunately, there is a combination of an anti-science bias that people are — for reasons that sometimes are … inconceivable and not understandable, they just don’t believe science, and they don’t believe authority,”

My head almost exploded. He made this comment in the same week he admitted the nation’s Health Experts™ lied to Americans about the effectiveness of masks. They decided to tell us masks didn’t work rather than tells us they were effective in preventing the spread, but please refrain from buying them until we have an adequate supply for healthcare workers. Having worked as a Registered Nurse, I was pretty confident that was what they were trying to do at the time. However, that is not why I have lost confidence in the nation’s Health Experts™. Instead, the findings of the research I did on my own during the initial months of the outbreak have me questioning their honesty, effectiveness, and rejecting their authority.

CDC: 10.7 percent of U.S. adults used prescription pain meds in 2015 to 2018 In 2015 to 2018, 10.7 percent of U.S. adults aged 20 years or older used one or more prescription pain medications in the previous 30 days, according to a June data brief published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Health Statistics. Craig M. Hales, M.D., M.P.H., from the National Center for Health Statistics in Hyattsville, Maryland, and colleagues used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to describe the proportion of adults who used one or more (opioid or nonopioid) in the previous 30 days in 2015 to 2018. The researchers found that 10.7 percent of U.S. adults aged 20 years and older used one or more prescription pain medications in the previous 30 days in 2015 to 2018, with 5.7 percent using one or more prescription opioids. Women had higher prescription opioid use than men, and use increased with age. Overall, 5.0 percent of adults used nonopioid prescription pain medications without prescription opioids in the previous 30 days in 2015 to 2018; non-Hispanic Asian adults had the lowest use.

Flu vaccine was disappointing vs. some strains last season The flu vaccine did a disappointing job last winter in the U.S., and officials worry that might be a bad sign for the fall. Flu vaccines had been about 60% effective against the type of flu that caused the most lab-confirmed illnesses last winter, but last season’s vaccine was only about half that good, according to study results reported Wednesday. Against another major type of flu, vaccines have already been only around 30% effective. The new results may be a sign of shrinking effectiveness against a number of strains, and “that’s concerning,” said Brendan Flannery, who oversees the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s system for evaluating the vaccine. The results come as health officials are gearing up for a critically important flu vaccination campaign, with a record 180 million doses being prepared. U.S. health officials fear a second wave of coronavirus infections, and reducing flu illnesses could help reduce patient traffic if COVID-19 causes doctors’ offices and hospitals to become overwhelmed.

Study suggests universal flu vaccine may be more challenging than expected Some common strains of influenza have the potential to mutate to evade broad-acting antibodies that could be elicited by a universal flu vaccine, according to a study led by scientists at Scripps Research. The findings highlight the challenges involved in designing such a , and should be useful in guiding its development. In the study, published in Science, the researchers found evidence that one of the most common flu subtypes, H3N2, can mutate relatively easily to escape two that were thought to block nearly all . Yet they found that it is much more difficult for another common subtype, H1N1, to escape from the same broadly neutralizing antibodies. One of the main goals of current influenza research is to develop a that induces broadly neutralizing antibodies, also known as “bnAbs,” to give people long-term protection from the flu. “These results show that in designing a universal flu vaccine or a universal flu treatment using bnAbs, we need to figure out how to make it more difficult for the to escape via resistance mutations,” says the study’s senior author Ian Wilson, DPhil, Hansen Professor of Structural Biology and Chair of the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology at Scripps Research.

High levels of arsenic found in US Whole Foods’ bottled water brand Bottled water manufactured by Whole Foods and sold in most of its US stores and on Amazon contains potentially harmful levels of arsenic, according to new tests by Consumer Reports (CR). CR recently tested dozens of bottled water brands and found that Starkey Spring Water, introduced by Whole Foods in 2015, had concerning levels of arsenic, ranging from 9.49 to 9.56 parts per billion (PPB), at least three times the level of every other brand tested. Federal regulations require manufacturers to limit the amount of arsenic, a potentially dangerous heavy metal, in bottled water to 10 PPB. CR experts believe that level does not adequately protect public health. CR also tested samples of Starkey Spring Water in 2019, finding levels of arsenic that approached or exceeded the federal limit: three samples ranged from 9.48 to 9.86 PPB of arsenic; a fourth registered 10.1 PPB. Those results are cited in two pending consumer lawsuits over Starkey’s arsenic content. Drinking a single bottle of Starkey probably will not harm you, says Dr James Dickerson, CR’s chief scientific officer. “But regular consumption of even small amounts of the heavy metal over extended periods increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, and lower IQ scores in children, and poses other health issues as well,” he says.
