There Is No Such Thing as ‘Public Health’ Out of Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century progressive reforms came the collectivist notion that disease could be eradicated with government-compelled one size fits all treatments without need for reliance on individual doctor-patient relationships. Physicians would become mere functionaries of the public health establishment. That collectivist conception gave rise to what is an oxymoron, “public health.” Truth be told, there is no such thing as “public health;” only individuals are diagnosable, and each has a unique physiological state for which a tailored treatment is almost always the best. The notion of a discernible “public health” drove creation of public health bureaucracies, like FDA, CDC, and HHS, together with state health bureaucracies, like the medical and health specialty licensing boards. Over the years, ever more voluminous public health directives have de-emphasized and undermined individual freedom of choice in health care, exercise of individual professional judgment, and the doctor-patient relationship. Today, physicians are routinely vexed when the treatment they believe best based on education, experience, and training is effectively disallowed by proxies for government overseers. It is those proxies’ treatment preferences that take precedence, deviation from them causes physicians to suffer an array of costly sanctions from Medicare and Medical Boards. For example, a physician who believes it in the best interests of a COVID-19 patient to treat him or her with hydroxycholoroquine or ivermectin will today be disabused of that exercise of professional discretion by Medicare providers and state licensing boards, despite convincing evidence that the treatments are effective in reducing symptoms and preventing hospitalization and death in patients who have recently contracted the illness. Not following the course set by the public health regime for COVID-19 (i.e., not insisting on COVID-19 vaccination and on treatment with select, approved agents like Paxlovid) invites the rebuke of peers and suspension or revocation of medical licenses.
New Evidence: Fauci Imposed a Vaccine Delay that Cost Trump the Election Think back to July 2020. Trump and Fauci were at war with each other. Key leaders within the Trump administration, including Peter Navarro, wanted to fire Fauci. There were protests and sometimes riots in the streets over the murder of George Floyd. And new evidence shows that behind the scenes, Fauci was working to torpedo Trump’s chances for re-election. We already knew that Fauci, the FDA, CDC, and the pharmaceutical industry went to great lengths to block treatments based on repurposed pharmaceuticals, including hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, while putting all hope and money into Covid-19 vaccines. But a new book reveals that Fauci also forced Moderna to delay their clinical trial by three weeks — which pushed the release of their preliminary results until after the presidential election. This key piece of information comes from The Messenger: Moderna, the Vaccine, and the Business Gamble That Changed the World published last week by Harvard Business Review Press. The author, Peter Loftus, is a reporter for the Wall Street Journal and they published his essay about the book in their Review section on Saturday. What’s astonishing is that Loftus does not even realize the enormity of the story he just stumbled upon. I will do it for him.
Betsy DeVos Doubles Down on ‘Eliminating’ Education Department, Slams Administrative State Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos reiterated her call to eliminate the Department of Education while calling out entrenched federal bureaucrats, the “vast majority” of whom, she said, are “actually working against you.” “I think anyone who is serious about getting after the size and scale of the federal government has got to make this a very top tier issue going into the next cycle,” she said of plans circulating in conservative circles of firing potentially thousands of federal employees in a new Republican administration. “I just think about the experience in the Department of Education and how formidable the bureaucracy is and how how difficult it is to advance policy in an environment where the vast majority of the individuals are actually working against you,” DeVos continued. “But that goes to the heart of the argument against the Department of Education, which again, I will reiterate, I think the department was created on a political payoff and we’ve seen the implications of that play out in the decades since then.” The “political payoff” to which she referred was a deal made during the 1976 presidential election between then-candidate Jimmy Carter and the teachers’ unions. In exchange for an endorsement — the teachers’ unions’ first-ever endorsement of a presidential candidate — Carter was to pay for their services by creating the department.
China Puts on Military Spectacle in Attempt to Scare Nancy Pelosi Away from Taiwan The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) staged military exercises and published propaganda videos of various weapons, including an alleged “aircraft carrier killer,” on Sunday and Monday in anticipation of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) arriving in Asia and potentially visiting Taiwan. Pelosi landed in Singapore on Monday and has since met with its president and prime minister, bringing along a congressional delegation. Pelosi’s office confirmed the delegation would also visit Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan. Rumors for weeks have indicated that Pelosi had long been considering a surprise stop in the sovereign, democratic nation of Taiwan – defying the Chinese Communist Party, which falsely claims Taiwan as a rogue “province” and dismisses its government as an illegitimate separatist entity. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) confirmed to Breitbart News last week that Pelosi was planning to visit Taiwan and had invited him to join, though he was unable to due to scheduling reasons. Various Communist Party spokesmen and propagandists have spent much of the past month threatening Pelosi in an attempt to prevent the visit, warning that Beijing would consider such a high-profile visit a violation of its “One China” policy – which insists that Taiwan (the Republic of China) is a province of the People’s Republic of China. Top Global Times commentator Hu Xijin suggested last week that Chinese forces should shoot Pelosi’s plane down if it appears to be traveling to Taiwan. Hu described a visit to Taiwan by Pelosi and the delegation, even if welcomed by the Taiwanese government, as an “invasion” of China.

Dr. Simone Gold Sentenced to Two Months in Prison A California doctor has been sentenced to two months in prison for being involved in the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol and stepping inside the restricted premises along with her co-defendant John Strand. Dr. Simone Melissa Gold was initially charged with entering a restricted building or grounds, violent entry, and disorderly conduct, and arrested on Jan. 18, 2021. She spent two days in custody. On March 3, 2022, she pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of illegally entering the restricted building. Gold was sentenced June 16 to serve 60 days in jail, one year of supervised release, pay a $9,500 fine, and $500 restitution. Gold is the founder of America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS), a nonprofit that has spoken out against the emergency use authorization of COVID-19 vaccines and promoted the use of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine during the initial days of the pandemic. While inside the building, Gold delivered a speech through a megaphone to a crowd gathered in Statuary Hall, where she stated her opposition to the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and government-imposed lockdowns. Gold expressed regret for entry into the Capitol building in a Jan. 12 interview with The Washington Post. “During the same interview Strand stated that he was also inside the U.S. Capitol with Gold and was there to protect Gold,” according to an official statement. “I was misguided. I should not have entered,” Gold said. “Everything I did on January 6, misguided or not, was consistent with my effort to do my best for people.” She sounded emotional when she told Cooper that she was “shocked” the prosecutors believed she was not remorseful and did not intend to take part “in a situation that was so destructive to our nation.”
