Special Guest – Michael Boldin
Constitution Day September 17th (or Citizenship Day, formerly observed the third Sunday in May) is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia. When Constitution Day falls on a weekend or on another holiday, schools and other institutions observe the holiday on an adjacent weekday. The law establishing the present holiday was created in 2004 with the passage of an amendment by Senator Robert Byrd to the Omnibus spending bill of 2004. Before this law was enacted, the holiday was known as “Citizenship Day”. In addition to renaming the holiday “Constitution Day and Citizenship Day,” the act mandates that all publicly funded educational institutions, and all federal agencies, provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day. In May 2005, the United States Department of Education announced the enactment of this law and that it would apply to any school receiving federal funds of any kind.
Constitution 101: Powers Reserved to the States or to the People While the Constitution was being considered in state ratifying conventions, prominent supporters of ratification repeatedly gave the people lists of powers that would be exclusively reserved to the people of the several states. Tench Coxe, James Iredell, Charles Carroll, James Wilson, and even John Marshall and Alexander Hamilton.
11 Powers and Duties of the President Under the Constitution While debates get more and more intense over who should preside over the most powerful government in the history of the world – maybe it’s more important to first determine what the job duties of the president are. As described by the Constitution, of course.
Bill Maher Weighs In On U.S. Obesity: Fat Shaming “Needs To Make A Comeback” Bill Maher served up a super-sized portion of steamed snark on Friday night as he weighed in on the American obesity crisis by equating overeating to racism and littering as a behavior that should be admonished in public ways. “In August, 53 Americans died from mass shootings,” the host of Real Time with Bill Maher told his live studio audience in Los Angeles. “Terrible right? Do you know how many died from obesity? Forty thousand. Fat shaming doesn’t need to end it needs to make a comeback. Some amount of shame is good. We shamed people out of smoking and into wearing seat belts. We shamed them out of littering and most of them out of racism. Shame is the first step in reform.” Maher used his show-closing commentary to connect the dots between obesity and climate change, the health care crisis, and (in a roundabout way) a national surrender of our Space Age vitality. On that last point, Maher shared a recent anecdote about watching vintage footage of the Apollo 11 mission and getting a jolting insight when the camera panned over a gathered crowd and showed how “un-fat” the American public of 1969 looked.

How often should silver hydrosol be applied for blepharitis? My father has a swollen eyelid and a slightly red eye; we think blepharitis is what it is but aren’t certain. We applied 2 drops of silver hydrosol two times yesterday, once in the morning and then again before bed. His eye was less red this morning but his lid looks the same, slightly swollen and quite red. (I’ve applied sovereign silver gel over his lid as well).
Fully-vaccinated doctor says she is 2nd confirmed measles case in York County A physician with WellSpan Health came forward and identified herself as the second confirmed measles case in York County. Dr. Jennifer McCabe a physician at WellSpan Family Medicine — Stony Brook, said she was fully vaccinated against the virus and has decided to disclose her diagnosis because she believes that “public education regarding this virus is in the best interest of our community.” McCabe said she was vaccinated twice and tested positive for presumed immunity against measles three times in the last 20 years, most recently within the past two days. “The vaccine is very safe, and very effective,” she said. “Two doses of the MMR, which is what the CDC recommends, is 97 percent effective in preventing measles.” McCabe said she and WellSpan followed all CDC and Department of Health guidelines, but she still got the measles, as she is one of the small percentage of people where the vaccine is not effective.
