Mysterious Missing Person
CDC Official Who Handled Zika, Ebola Outbreaks Mysteriously Disappears Without A Trace A Harvard-trained CDC official has been missing since February 12 after leaving work midway through the day due to an illness, prompting his friends and family to sound the alarm and issue a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the event of malfeasance. The family of Timothy J. Cunningham, 35, grew concerned after the Harvard-trained epidemiologist and US Navy officer wouldn’t answer texts or calls. Driving over 600 miles from Maryland to Atlanta, Cunningham’s parents gained access to his house where they found their son’s phone, wallet and driver’s license.
Jeff Sessions Doing His Job Finally
Justice Dept. to target opioid manufacturers, distributors in new push to curb deadly
epidemic Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Tuesday creation of a new task force focused specifically on targeting opioid manufacturers and distributors, and holding them accountable for unlawful practices. The Justice Department also filed a statement of interest in a case involving hundreds of lawsuits against opioid manufacturers and distributors. Sessions said the Justice Department will argue that the federal government has borne substantial costs from the opioid epidemic and it seeks reimbursement. The case includes numerous cities, municipalities and medical institutions.
‘I was high as hell’: Flea, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist, attacks prescription of OxyContin Flea, the bassist in Red Hot Chili Peppers, has laid bare his struggles with addiction, including with the controversial prescription painkiller OxyContin. Flea, born Michael Balzary, wrote the revelations in an opinion piece for Time magazine called The Temptation of Drugs is a Bitch. In it he says he started smoking weed aged 11, before he “proceeded to snort, shoot, pop, smoke, drop and dragon chase my way through my teens and 20s.” He added that he had some “close calls” with death as a result of his drug-taking, which he “cut out forever” in 1993, aged 30.
Oh For Crying Out Loud… Enough Already
Study: Standing desks could be harmful to your productivity — and your health Thinking of getting standing desks for your employees. . .or even for yourself? You might want to think again. Research has shown that sitting at a desk for too long can lead to long-term health problems. Which is why, over the past few years, standing desks-which can easily cost hundreds of dollars-have become more popular in offices around the world. A growing number of managers and owners believe that their use can help workers to lose weight, reduce back pain and be more alert.
Hour 2 – Special Guest Chris Barr!
Are Teen Neurodevelopmental Disorders Caused by Vaccines and Other Toxins being Masked by Big Pharma as “Mental Health” Disorders? It has never been easy to be an adolescent, but by the look of things, twenty-first century teenagers may be having a harder time than ever. One contributing factor—the one that public health agencies and the media seem most willing to discuss—is a ballooning epidemic of mental health problems in teens. Meanwhile, an equally grim developmental disability crisis has been unfolding for years, affecting at least one in sixAmerican children and teens but receiving little attention. Officialdom’s subtle sidelining of developmental disorders in favor of a focus on mental health is somewhat baffling, given that researchers frequently use the terms “neuropsychiatric” and “neurodevelopmental” interchangeably. This is particularly the case when they refer to diagnoses such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other behavioral disorders.
First SSRI’s. Then BPA…. Now RADIATION Is Ok?
Breast cancer radiation not as bad as many fear Many breast cancer patients say they’ve heard
scary stories about radiation therapy, but their actual experience is usually better, new research finds. The study of more than 300 women who underwent breast radiation found that almost half had heard “frightening” stories going into treatment. But only 2 percent ultimately agreed that the stories were true. And over 80 percent of all patients said their experience with radiation therapy was actually “less scary” than they’d expected.
The Diabetes Epidemic Continues
Earlier diabetes diagnosis linked to heart disease, stroke As recent studies have pointed out, the rates of newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes among young people in the United States have been on the rise. According to a 2017 report published in the New England Journal of Medicine, around 208,000 people in the U.S. under the age of 20 were diagnosed with diabetes. The age at which someone is diagnosed with diabetes has been linked to a progression in cardiometabolic risk factors. The younger the age at the time of diagnosis, the more likely the people are to be obese, have higher levels of “bad”cholesterol, and experience faster deterioration of their blood sugar control.
This Is An Eye-Opener
Experts are warning that children can’t properly hold pens anymore With the rise of
touchscreen technology, it seems like handwriting is on the decline – both in everyday use and in educational settings. According to one recent report, some British kids are even struggling to hold pens and pencils properly. “Children are not coming into school with the hand strength and dexterity they had 10 years ago,” paediatric occupational therapist Sally Payne from the Heart of England foundation NHS Trust told The Guardian.
