Wednesday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
The people with hidden immunity against Covid-19 The clues have been mounting for a while. First, scientists discovered patients who had recovered from infection with Covid-19, but mysteriously didn’t have any antibodies against it. Next it emerged that this might be the case for a significant number of people. Then came the finding that many of those who do develop antibodies seem to lose them again after just a few months. In short, though antibodies have proved invaluable for tracking the spread of the pandemic, they might not have the leading role in immunity that we once thought. If we are going to acquire long-term protection, it looks increasingly like it might have to come from somewhere else. But while the world has been preoccupied with antibodies, researchers have started to realise that there might be another form of immunity – one which, in some cases, has been lurking undetected in the body for years. An enigmatic type of white blood cell is gaining prominence. And though it hasn’t previously featured heavily in the public consciousness, it may well prove to be crucial in our fight against Covid-19. This could be the T cell’s big moment.
Virus antibodies fade fast but not necessarily protection New research suggests that antibodies the immune system makes to fight the new coronavirus may only last a few months in people with mild illness, but that doesn’t mean protection also is gone or that it won’t be possible to develop an effective vaccine. “Infection with this coronavirus does not necessarily generate lifetime immunity,” but antibodies are only part of the story, said Dr. Buddy Creech, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University. He had no role in the work, published Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine. The immune system remembers how to make fresh antibodies if needed and other parts of it also can mount an attack, he said. Antibodies are proteins that white blood cells called B cells make to bind to the virus and help eliminate it. The earliest ones are fairly crude but as infection goes on, the immune system becomes trained to focus its attack and to make more precise antibodies.
People are more likely to contract COVID-19 at home, study finds South Korean epidemiologists have found that people were more likely to contract the new coronavirus from members of their own households than from contacts outside the home. A study published in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 16 looked in detail at 5,706 “index patients” who had tested positive for the coronavirus and more than 59,000 people who came into contact with them. The findings showed just two out of 100 infected people had caught the virus from non-household contacts, while one in 10 had contracted the disease from their own families. By age group, the infection rate within the household was higher when the first confirmed cases were teenagers or people in their 60s and 70s. “This is probably because these age groups are more likely to be in close contact with family members as the group is in more need of protection or support,” Jeong Eun-kyeong, director of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) and one of the authors of the study, told a briefing. Children aged nine and under were least likely to be the index patient, said Dr. Choe Young-june, a Hallym University College of Medicine assistant professor who co-led the work, although he noted that the sample size of 29 was small compared to the 1,695 20-to-29-year-olds studied.
U.S. agrees to pay Pfizer and BioNTech $2 billion for 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccine The United States will pay Pfizer and German biotech firm BioNTech $1.95 billion to produce and deliver 100 million doses of their Covid-19 vaccine in the U.S. if it proves safe and effective in humans, the companies announced Wednesday. Under the agreement, the U.S. can acquire an additional 500 million doses of the vaccine, the Department of Health and Human Services added. BioNTech and U.S.-based Pfizer are jointly developing four potential vaccines. If one of the vaccines proves safe and effective in a large phase three trial and receives regulatory approval, HHS said Pfizer will begin to deliver doses to locations across the U.S. at the government’s direction. The vaccine would then be made available to Americans “at no cost,” HHS said. It’s unclear who the first doses of the potential vaccine would go to and how that decision would be made. The companies previously said they expect to begin a large trial with up to 30,000 participants later this month, if they receive regulatory approval. Shares of Pfizer rose more than 5% in premarket trading Wednesday on the news and BioNTech stock popped over 8%.
Coronavirus vaccine: UK government signs deals for 90 million doses The UK government has signed deals for 90 million doses of promising coronavirus vaccines that are being developed. The vaccines are being researched by an alliance between the pharmaceutical companies BioNtech and Pfizer as well as the firm Valneva. The new deal is on top of 100 million doses of the Oxford University vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca. However, it is still uncertain which of the experimental vaccines may work. A vaccine is widely seen as the best chance of getting our lives back to normal. Research is taking place at an unprecedented scale – the world became aware of coronavirus at the beginning of the year, but already more than 20 vaccines are in clinical trials. Some can provoke an immune response, but none has yet been proven to protect against infection. The UK government has now secured access to vaccines that use three completely different approaches: 100m doses of the Oxford vaccine made from a genetically engineered virus, 30 million doses of the BioNtech/Pfizer vaccine, which injects part of the coronavirus’ genetic code,60 million doses of the Valneva, which uses an inactive version of the coronavirus.
Questions of The Day!
Hi RSB. Love your show and so thankful for all the information you provide! (Though I must say, I would be able to share more of the shows with more folks if you and Super Don would tone down some of the language.)
I wanted to ask about type 1 diabetes. Do you know of any homeopathic/herbal/natural treatment options, or preventative measures to take to counteract some of the toxic aspects of pharmaceuticals such as Levemir and Novalogue?
Thanks in advance and God bless you! Keep up the good work! – K Gordon
I remember RSB saying he was writing a book about silver. Is that still happening?
Comment of The Day!
Howdy.. Just wanted to say thanks for doing your show., I have learned a lot from listening. If you guys are still looking at gardens, here is a link to mine. https://thebusymama.com/the-busy-mama-garden-2020-pics/ Because we have a pool in the backyard, I created a container garden in the front, and it kind of spilled out onto both sides of the driveway. I have almonds, peaches, oranges, pommagrants, celery, a variety of berries, nectarines, lemons, apples, cucumbers, lemon grass, eggplant, watermelon, and apricots
I have the area completely packed and wish that I had a wee bit morel
Nitric oxide may slow progression of COVID-19 Nitric oxide treatment can be pivotal in the world’s fight against SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, according to a review from the George Washington University (GW). The article is published in the journal Nitric Oxide. Nitric oxide is an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory molecule with key roles in pulmonary vascular function in the context of viral infections and other pulmonary diseases. In SARS-CoV-1 infection, which led to the outbreak of SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) in 2003, nitric oxide inhibited viral replication by cytotoxic reactions through intermediates such as peroxynitrite. It is one of several potential COVID-19 treatments included in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s emergency expanded access program. “Nitric oxide plays key roles in maintaining normal vascular function and regulating inflammatory cascades that contribute to acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS),” said Adam Friedman, MD, interim chair and professor in the Department of Dermatology at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences and co-senior author of the review. “Interventions that are protective against ALI and ARDS can play a critical role for patients and health systems during the pandemic.”
Introducing the ‘Great Reset,’ world leaders’ radical plan to transform the economy For decades, progressives have attempted to use climate change to justify liberal policy changes. But their latest attempt – a new proposal called the “Great Reset” – is the most ambitious and radical plan the world has seen in more than a generation. At a virtual meeting earlier in June hosted by the World Economic Forum, some of the planet’s most powerful business leaders, government officials and activists announced a proposal to “reset” the global economy. Instead of traditional capitalism, the high-profile group said the world should adopt more socialistic policies, such as wealth taxes, additional regulations and massive Green New Deal-like government programs. “Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed,” wrote Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, in an article published on WEF’s website. “In short, we need a ‘Great Reset’ of capitalism.”
8 “Facts” About Coronavirus That Are Actually Lies Have you ever pondered the fact that the current COVID lockdown, masks, and fear may be a result of official “facts” that are not facts at all but are, well, actually lies? In our opinion, the propaganda campaign surrounding this so-called “pandemic” has achieved its goal. Inundated with voluminous amounts of contradictory information coming from all angles, people in general have succumbed to “analysis paralysis,” confusion and fear. Many have given up trying to actually understand the situation and apparently have decided that, regardless of how insane or illogical the directives may be, it’s just easier to act like “robotic sheeple” and obey … even if it means giving up freedom and liberty. We constantly hear about the “new normal” which includes COVID testing, contact tracing, monitoring, surveillance, mask-wearing, social distancing, quarantine and isolation, with the possibility of mandatory vaccinations and microchipping coming soon.
Gov. DeSantis Calls for Investigation as Those Not Tested for Coronavirus Receive Positive Results Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has asked the Department of Health to investigate following emerging reports of individuals receiving positive test results for the Chinese coronavirus, despite never taking the test. “For that to come back positive, when there was no specimen submitted, is problematic, so I’ve heard it enough to be concerned about it,” DeSantis said this week. “I asked the Department of Health to look at that, because I heard it too. If you can give us, if people that have told you that are willing to provide their name, we’re interested in investigating this because it’s ridiculous,” he continued. Local news outlets, including Fox 35 News and Fox 4, have reported receiving mounting reports of this phenomenon. “How does someone test positive for coronavirus if they have never been tested? Reports of this happening have been pouring into FOX 35 News since we began investigating COVID-19 data,” Fox 35 News reported, noting that people claimed they left the premises prior to getting tested. Despite that, they later received positive test results. “If you’re somebody that this has happened to, you’re going to come forward and give us the details, because I think that that needs to be corrected,” DeSantis added.
74 New Yorkers Tested for Coronavirus Got False Positive Results Seventy-four Long Island, New York, residents tested for the coronavirus this month received false positive results, according to a report. The impacted patients went in for testing between July 9 and July 14, according to Sunrise Medical Laboratories in Hicksville, New York. Sunrise told Newsday that about 1.5 percent of patients tested during that time were affected and that it was an “isolated incident [that] does not impact any patients who received a negative result during that time or testing performed at any other time or by any other facility.” Sunrise added that it was a “possible COVID-19 specimen contamination issue.” The lab did not disclose how many tests it performs per week or how many tests total were affected by the false positives. “Corrected reports were issued to providers caring for all affected patients on July 16 and 17, 2020,” the lab said in a statement. “After extensive consultation with the New York State Department of Health [NYSDOH], and out of an abundance of caution, we are offering retesting to all patients receiving the corrected report at no charge. We are currently working with providers to reach out to the affected patients and complete the retesting as soon as feasible.” Suffolk County said 68 of its residents were affected, and is treating all cases as positive for now.
California Church Defies Governor Newsom Order, Holds Indoor Services A church in Rocklin, California, held services on Sunday in defiance of California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) shutdown order barring houses of worship holding indoor gatherings. Destiny Christian Church pastor Greg Fairrington told KTXL that he lead three services with 375 parishioners, filing 25 percent of the church that has a capacity of 1,500 people. “Church is essential. It is essential to our society, and people are hurting. They’re devastated,” Fairrington told the local news outlet. During his firey sermon, Fairrington told members that the church is on a mission to combat the state’s order to prevent gatherings in houses of worship. Fairrington declared:
Here we are in this moment right now, and I believe that God is giving this church in this moment a greater anointing than we have ever had before. I believe that God is giving us an apostolic influence in this region. … I believe our call is to get the church ready for an outpouring, to get the church ready for an awakening. But God is giving us right now in this moment a rude awakening before he gives us the great awakening, and for some reason God is using Destiny as a hub.
“It’s awesome to be outdoors worshiping with you,” he added. “It’s also awesome to be indoors worshiping together and all of you online. We have gotten letters all week, emails, encouraging us all around our nation, and I know there are people watching all around the world.”
