Monday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
It’s All Connected….
Could Depression Be An Immune Response To Stress? A New Study Suggests An Answer Science is gradually piecing together the vexing brain puzzle that connects depression and inflammation, and an important new piece just fell into place. Researchers using a mouse model have discovered how stress triggers an immune response in the brain that leads to inflammation and ultimately depression – and the implications for humans could eventually be big. Clues linking inflammation and depression have been appearing in studies for the better part of a decade, but the “how and why” hasn’t been easy to identify. For example, while it’s now clear that depression and brain-tissue inflammation often appear in tandem, it’s not clear whether depression leads to inflammation or the other way around. The latest study may provide part of the answer. Researchers found that by genetically manipulating particular immune receptors in the brains of mice, they could control how their brains reacted to stress. When they allowed the mice brains to be affected by repeated bouts of stress, they were able to witness an immune response that triggered the release of cytokines – proteins that serve as a marker of inflammation in both mice and humans. That inflammatory response, in turn, led to “the atrophy and impaired response of neurons in the medial prefrontal cortex [part of the brain’s executive control center], causing depressive behavior.”
Questions of The Day!
Why are more and more alternative doctor saying all silver builds up in the body? I am in very serious need of help. systemic candida throughout the body.
Hi Robert. I talked to you on your radio show once at your invitation because my question interested you. I have just been listening to you on Trevor’s show where you mentioned the importance of buying natural selenium. Please would you mind giving me a heads up there. Presently I use seleno-methionine from a UK company or Seleno Excell from Healthy Origins in the US. Sometimes I use seleno-selenite but not recently. I really value your advice as I know your research is impeccable.
Kind regards, Robin
Watched your video segment on Faith, Hope & Cancer. Received uterine cancer diagnosis early 2018. Surgery in March to remove uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, 2 lymph nodes. Cancer metastasized to lungs. Will be receiving my final infusion of chemo (Paclitaxel; Carboplatin) month-end July 2018. Tumors are diminishing/disappearing; however, I realize cancer cells will continue to lurk from metastasis and I want to obliterate them. Grateful to you for sharing your thoughts on how to accomplish this through homeopathy.
Umm…NO. Try Again
Diet soda linked to reduced colon cancer death, study says While there is no known cure for colon cancer, scientists believe diet soda can help reduce the recurrence of the disease, according to a new report. Researchers from the Yale Cancer Center recently conducted a study, published in the Public Library of Science journal, to explore the relationship between foods and the illness. “We wanted to ask the question if, after cancer has developed and advanced, would a change in lifestyle — drinking artificially sweetened beverages — change the outcome of the cancer post-surgery,” senior author Charles S. Fuchs asked in a statement. For the assessment, his team examined more than 1,000 colon cancer patients enrolled in a National Cancer Institute-supported clinical trial. Participants completed nutrition questionnaires that asked about their consumption of more than 130 foods and drinks. Scientists then tracked cancer recurrence and patient death rates for about seven years. After analyzing the results, they found that those who drank one or more 12-ounce servings of a soft drink daily had a 46 percent improved risk of cancer recurrence or death, compared to those who didn’t drink them.
Hour 2 – Advanced Medicine with Dr. Rashid Buttar!
Dr. Buttar is back to talk about what’s happening in the world of health news. Here’s what we have in store for you today:
Study: Childhood Abuse Linked To Greater Risk Of Endometriosis A large prospective study has found that sexual and physical abuse in childhood and adolescence is associated with a greater risk of endometriosis diagnosed during adulthood. The study found that women reporting severe-chronic abuse of multiple types had a 79 percent increased risk of laparoscopically-confirmed endometriosis. “Both physical and sexual abuse were associated with endometriosis risk, with abuse severity, chronicity, and accumulation of types of abuse each associated with increasing risk in a dose-response manner,” said Dr. Holly R. Harris, assistant member of Epidemiology in Fred Hutch’s Public Health Sciences Division. She is lead author of an embargoed article scheduled to appear July 17 in the journal, Human Reproduction. Abuse has been associated with chronic pelvic pain, uterine fibroids, and hypertension in previous studies, but this report – which used data collected from 60,595 women within the Nurses’ Health Study II from 1989 to 2013 – is the first to show an association between childhood abuse and laparoscopically-confirmed endometriosis.
How accurate is the CD57 test for Lyme?? This test just isolates lyme infection only? Please elaborate. Mine was 40 one time 60 the next. Also how do you know if you have an ‘active’ Epstein Barre virus?’ Which tests are the most accurate please. I really really need to know this. Thank you sir.
I have 1 burning question I’ve had for 6 years now. I’m having liver stones. So I should flush my liver with the olive oil+citrus mixture. But doing that gives me eye damage: eye flashes and floaters. That’s very scary. Nobody wants to damage his Eyesight. But what do I have to do now? How can I get rid of these stones? I’ve started a raw vegan, high carb low fat diet, for starters. Any answer/suggestion would be very much appreciated.
Doctors don’t always recognize ‘financial toxicity’ of cancer U.S. doctors must realize that many cancer patients battle “financial toxicity” along with their disease, researchers say. The costs associated with treatment, even for those with insurance, often create hardship and distress, according to a new study in the journal Cancer. After surveying hundreds of doctors and thousands of patients, researchers concluded that the “financial devastation that many patients face” is not adequately being addressed by the health care providers treating them. “We are seeing in our survey data, especially among vulnerable populations such as ethnic and racial minorities, non-trivial rates of terrible privation, including losing a home or having the utilities turned off,” said Dr. Reshma Jagsi, director of the Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. “We as physicians are ethically obligated to help.”
Chemicals in food may harm children, pediatricians’ group says A major pediatricians’ group is urging families to limit the use of plastic food containers, cut down on processed meat during pregnancy and consume more whole fruits and vegetables rather than processed food. Such measures would lower children’s exposures to chemicals in food and food packaging that are tied to health problems such as obesity, the group says. The American Academy of Pediatrics issued the guidelines in a statement and scientific technical report Monday. The group joins other medical and advocacy groups that have expressed concern about the growing body of scientific evidence indicating that certain chemicals that enter foods may interfere with the body’s natural hormones in ways that may affect long-term growth and development. The pediatricians’ group, which represents some 67,000 children’s doctors in the country, is also calling for more rigorous testing and regulation of thousands of chemicals used as food additives or indirectly added to foods when they are used in manufacturing or leach from packaging and plastics.
Do vaccinations help or hurt my child?
One of the most controversial issues in society today is the issue of vaccinations. Evoking intense feelings, both sides of the debate are very passionate. Studies have shown evidence to support both sides of the debate. Each alleges the other side skewed the data or altered the results to show desired outcome. So what is the truth? Maybe YOU can help us in less than 2 minutes to find the truth for the benefit of all children on the planet!
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.
