Here’s whats happening in the news:
Cancer: How to cope following a diagnosis According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is one of the most widespread diseases worldwide. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) estimate that, in the United States alone, there were approximately 1,685,210 new cases of cancer in 2016. What are some practical ways that could help you to cope with the shock of a cancer diagnosis, and allow you to make the best decisions for yourself? Medical News Today have spoken with healthcare professionals and explored the experiences of people living with cancer with the aim of bringing you advice on how to face this unwelcome news.
You’ve got one more chance to see it all… The Truth About Cancer LIVE: Weekend Replay Well, The Truth About Cancer LIVE 2017 is in the history books. Over three amazing days, we heard 40 leading cancer and health experts share their research and knowledge on how to heal and prevent cancer naturally. I’m certain what people heard and saw over last weekend changed their lives dramatically … and filled us with hope for a cancer-free future. I hope you had a chance over the weekend to tune in to some or all of the LIVESTREAM event. If you did… it was impossible to see each and every speaker. With nine breakout sessions and three stages — along with a dozen keynote speakers — you’re sure to have missed something. But I’ve got great news… You have a second chance to see the event.
Obesity among all US adults reaches all-time high The United States will not be escaping the obesity epidemic crisis anytime soon: Nearly 40% of adults and 19% of youth are obese, the highest rate the country has ever seen in all adults, according toresearch released Friday by the National Center for Health Statistics. Since 1999, there has been a staggering rise in the prevalence of obesity, particularly in adults, without any “signs of it slowing down,” according to the study’s lead researcher, Dr. Craig Hales, medical epidemiologist at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Question of The Day!
Have you heard of Barth Syndrome? My Grandson of four years old has it. He is on a feeding tube and can only tolerate 12 foods He is on 9 different meds twice a day, some are for his heart which right now is doing good. We just don’t know where to turn to help with his digestion issues. All they (the Drs) want is to do invasive testing and put him on more meds. His mother doesn’t want that. She (we) are desperate and do not know we’re to turn. Can you give as any hope?
Whooping Cough Outbreaks Traced Back to Vaccine Failure The pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine is included as a component in “combination” shots that include tetanus and diphtheria (DPT, DTaP, Tdap) and some pertussis-containing shots now also include polio, hepatitis B and/or Haemophilus Influenza B (Hib). Whole cell pertussis vaccines in DPT, used in the U.S. from 1949 until the late ‘90s, were estimated to be between 30 and 85 percent effective, depending upon the type of DPT and vaccine manufacturer, with protection lasting only two to five years. The DPT vaccine was highly reactive and carried a high risk of serious allergic reactions and brain inflammation leading to permanent brain damage, as detailed in the groundbreaking 1985 book DPT: A Shot in the Dark, co-authored by Barbara Loe Fisher, cofounder of the National Vaccine Information Center.
Finnair Flight 666 goes to HEL on Friday the 13th A Finnair flight that took off Friday morning might give pause to the superstitious: Flight 666 to “HEL” on Friday the 13th. The flight departed at 1:18 p.m. local time from Copenhagen, Denmark, and landed at 3:53 at Finland’s Helsinki-Vantaa airport — which has a three-letter airport code of “HEL.” An airline spokesman said Flight 666 has been making the flights to Helsinki for 11 years, and 21 of the trips took place on various Fridays the 13th. The airline said the perceived unluckiness of the date, combined with the number 666 and the “HEL” destination, has not appeared to have any affect on passenger numbers for flights.
