Special Guest – Josh Hendrix!
Born and raised in the Bluegrass State and a University of Kentucky alumnus, Mr. Hendrix relocatedback to Central Kentucky in 2014 on a mission to help rebuild the US hemp industry. Seeing a need to bring farmers, processors, manufacturers and supporters of the industry together, Mr. Hendrix founded the Kentucky Hemp Industries Association that summer and still serves on the Board of Directors. He also became an active member of the Kentucky Hemp Industries Council where he now serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors. In 2015 he created and became President of Hendrix Hemp, a licensed hemp producer that manages hemp cultivation on his family’s, Mayflower Farm, in Mount Sterling, KY. In early 2016 Mr. Hendrix was appointed to the Technical Advisory Council for the National Hemp Association and accepted a role on the Senior Advisory Board of the institutional trading platform for hemp, Seed CX. Currently Mr. Hendrix serves as the Director of Business Development – Domestic Production for CV Sciences, Inc. where he works with numerous universities, farmers, businesses, and organizations to help facilitate the infrastructure necessary to establish a modern domestic supply chain for hemp in the United States.
Special Guest – Jonathan Miller From The US Hemp Round Table
Launched in early 2017, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable is a coalition of dozens of hemp companies –
representing every link of the product chain, from seed to sale – and all of the industry’s major national grassroots organizations. Our goal is to secure passage of bi-partisan legislation in the U.S. Congress that would establish hemp as an agricultural commodity, and permanently remove it from regulation as a controlled substance. Our efforts include an aggressive, targeted, grass-tops lobbying campaign that will bring leading farmers and business executives to Washington to help improve upon and secure final passage of HR 3530 (Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2018) in the U.S. House and the soon-to-be-released Hemp Farming Act of 2018 in the U.S. Senate.
Special Guest – Bob Hoban
Bob Hoban is the Managing Partner at Hoban Law Group, the nation’s premier cannabusiness law firm, with attorneys in over a dozen states and abroad. Bob is formerly a professor at the University of Denver, in the Law and Society Program, and regularly instructs regarding government regulations, public policy, and research-based policy courses. Special Guest Summer Star Haeske – EnviroTextiles
Envirotextiles in Glenwood Springs, CO, is a pioneer in the development of hemp and hemp blend textiles and are industry leaders in the efforts to improve corporate responsibility and transparency in manufacturing processes and labeling. Working out of an old log church which they have lovingly rescued from a state of disrepair, Barbara Filippone, her daughter Summer Star Haeske and their dedicated staff design, import and distribute a beautiful array of hemp and hemp blend textiles to manufacturers here and abroad. Barbara’s expertise in all aspects of the textile trade, and her dedication to sustainable manufacturing practices is reflected in the company’s products and culture.

Special Guest Annie Brown – Rodale Institute
For seventy years, we’ve been researching the best practices of organic agriculture and sharing our findings with farmers and scientists throughout the world, advocating for policies that support farmers, and educating consumers about how going organic is the healthiest option for people and the planet.
Annie has been with the Rodale Institute since the fall of 2012, acting first as our West Coast Representative and then assuming the position of Director of Development in January 2016. She is responsible for raising money from foundations, corporations and individuals to allow the Institute to continue our important work. Although her grandmother and mother were both Master Gardeners, Annie boasts a pitch black thumb when it comes to gardening. Her ideal day would be spent hiking far, far away from any garden that needed tending, and instead going to her local farmers’ market and buying organic veggies to create a delicious meal.
