Tucker Carlson: Americans Shouldn’t Be Forced to Take One-Size-Fits-All Vaccine In the segment below on last night’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson said, “there are unresolved concerns” about the long-term health effects of COVID vaccines, including on female fertility and pregnant women. The American people should not be forced to take a one-size-fits-all medical treatment, Carlson explained. “No medicine is designed for every person in all circumstances,” he said. Last month, the Biden administration said the federal government will not require all Americans to get the COVID vaccine, nor will it require vaccination passports. But the truth is, when it comes to COVID vaccines, President Biden is not pro-choice, he’s pro-mandate, Carlson said. He added: “The question of whether to take them, whether to have powerful drugs injected into your body is the most intimate kind of personal health decision. Politicians and bureaucrats should have no role in a decision like that.” But just because there’s no federal mandate to get the COVID vaccine doesn’t mean you or your family won’t be required to get it, Carlson explained. With support from the Biden administration, “private industry and nonprofits may be forcing you to,” he added.

Gov. Whitmer among 7 awarded for courage by JFK Foundation Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and six other people who risked their own health and safety to help and protect others during the coronavirus pandemic will receive Profile in Courage awards next month, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation announced Tuesday. The recipients, who also include a grocery story owner, a delivery driver, a nurse and an activist, were selected from among thousands of nominations submitted by people around the country, the foundation said in a statement. “Today’s honorees put their own lives at risk to keep others safe. They inspire us all with their courage and give new meaning to President Kennedy’s legacy of public service,” said Caroline Kennedy, the president’s daughter and honorary president of the foundation. The award is named after Kennedy’s 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “Profiles in Courage,” about eight U.S. senators who risked their careers by taking principled stands for unpopular positions. The seven recipients of the COVID-19 courage award will be honored along with U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney during a virtual ceremony that will be aired May 26.

35-Year-Old Woman Dies of Brain Hemorrhage 11 Days After Receiving J&J Vaccine The family of a Michigan woman says she died as the result of complications 11 days after receiving the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID vaccine. Anne VanGeest, 35, died April 19 at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids from an acute subarachnoid brain hemorrhage, FOX 17 reported. “It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Anne’s passing Anne (Annie), who was 35, was a loving mother, wife, sister and daughter,” the family said in a statement provided by Lambert, a Grand Rapids public relations firm that is providing its services to the family pro bono. VanGeest received the J&J shot on April 8, five days before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) paused the vaccine to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots in women who received the shot. VanGeest’s family said her headache started on April 16 — eight days after being vaccinated. She died three days later. Her death certificate notes a natural death, specifically from an acute subarachnoid hemorrhage, or bleeding between the brain and tissue around the brain. Symptoms of the rare blood clots typically develop six to 15 days after getting the shot. “These initial symptoms are fairly vague and nonspecific,” said Dr. Tom Shimabukuro of the CDC COVID-19 Response. “(It’s) mainly headache, but importantly, the headaches for these started six or more days after vaccination.”

‘Green fairy’ charged by police for giving away cannabis A Waikato man who claims he was giving cannabis free to elderly people for pain relief has been raided and charged by police. Meremere man Jason Tong entered not guilty pleas to one charge of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and two charges of supplying a class C controlled drug, in Huntly District Court yesterday. Tong said he just wanted to do his bit for people in need – and he had gained the backing of a medicinal cannabis advocate who fears “green fairy” prosecutions are becoming more common. Tong became a green fairy by accident three years ago, when his son was diagnosed with cancer and he began looking into alternative medicines, he said. His wife discovered it was a remedy to the arthritis in her hands, and he found it eased his own severe back pain. Tong began growing more plants and posting them to kuia and kaumātua in his neighbourhood – and then dozens of others around the country who told him they were in need, and couldn’t afford other medication. It all ended a month ago when he looked out the window and saw police officers swarming onto his property. They took about 30 plants from the outside, before moving indoors.

Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, has banned standing and dancing at both indoor and outdoor weddings as part of the city’s new Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown rules. On April 26, the D.C. government issued a new set of coronavirus orders that loosened some restrictions within the city. The latest order regarding weddings permitted indoor weddings at 25 percent capacity or 250 people, whichever is lower. Couples who want to have more than 250 people at their wedding must obtain a waiver from the city. The order also prohibited “standing and dancing at receptions.” The ban on standing and dancing went into effect on May 1 and it applies to both indoor and outdoor receptions. Susan Castillo, a spokeswoman for the mayor, told local CBS-affiliate WUSA9 that the city is assessing and adjusting restrictions as needed and the top priority is to ensure the safety of residents and visitors. Bowser’s office informed Fox 5 that the standing and dancing ban was put in place as “an extra layer of safety” to prevent the spread of COVID-19, especially in indoor spaces, because people are more likely to get close and touch each other when they stand and dance.

Nanoplastics and other harmful pollutants found within disposable face masks Swansea University scientists have uncovered potentially dangerous chemical pollutants that are released from disposable face masks when submerged in water. The research reveals high levels of pollutants, including lead, antimony, and copper, within the silicon-based and plastic fibres of common disposable face masks. The work is supported by the Institute for Innovative Materials, Processing and Numerical Technologies (IMPACT) and the SPECIFIC Innovation & Knowledge Centre. Project lead Dr. Sarper Sarp of Swansea University College of Engineering said: “All of us need to keep wearing masks as they are essential in ending the pandemic. But we also urgently need more research and regulation on mask production, so we can reduce any risks to the environment and human health“. Outlined in a recent paper, the tests carried out by the research team used a variety of masks—from standard plain face masks to novelty and festive masks for children with many currently being sold in UK retail outlets. The rise in single-use masks, and the associated waste, due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been documented as a new cause of pollution. The study aimed to explore this direct link—with investigations to identify the level of toxic substances present.

CDC: Dozens of adverse reactions caused by anxiety, not Johnson & Johnson vaccine The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has concluded that dozens of Johnson & Johnson vaccine recipients experienced adverse physical reactions because of anxiety and not the vaccine itself, according to a report published Friday. The agency investigated clusters of anxiety-related events, with a total 64 incidents out of 8,624 doses administered, reported to the CDC by five mass vaccination sites across five different states. Researchers said that these anxiety-related cases “can occur after any vaccination” if a person has a physical reaction within 15 minutes of inoculation due to their worries about getting the shot. The incidents were reported between April 7 and 9, about five weeks after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued its emergency authorization approval for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. These anxiety-related reactions are not related to the rare cases of blood clots that led the CDC and FDA to recommend pausing administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine across the country. The anxiety-related cases occurred before the pause, which ended last week. In response to the anxiety-related cases, which included 17 cases of fainting, or syncope, four of the five mass vaccination sites temporarily shut down during an investigation.

The Liberals Who Can’t Quit Lockdown Lurking among the jubilant Americans venturing back out to bars and planning their summer-wedding travel is a different group: liberals who aren’t quite ready to let go of pandemic restrictions. For this subset, diligence against COVID-19 remains an expression of political identity—even when that means overestimating the disease’s risks or setting limits far more strict than what public-health guidelines permit. In surveys, Democrats express more worry about the pandemic than Republicans do. People who describe themselves as “very liberal” are distinctly anxious. This spring, after the vaccine rollout had started, a third of very liberal people were “very concerned” about becoming seriously ill from COVID-19, compared with a quarter of both liberals and moderates, according to a study conducted by the University of North Carolina political scientist Marc Hetherington. And 43 percent of very liberal respondents believed that getting the coronavirus would have a “very bad” effect on their life, compared with a third of liberals and moderates. Last year, when the pandemic was raging and scientists and public-health officials were still trying to understand how the virus spread, extreme care was warranted. People all over the country made enormous sacrifices—rescheduling weddings, missing funerals, canceling graduations, avoiding the family members they love—to protect others. Some conservatives refused to wear masks or stay home, because of skepticism about the severity of the disease or a refusal to give up their freedoms. But this is a different story, about progressives who stressed the scientific evidence, and then veered away from it.
