US government slow to act as anti-vaxxers spread lies on social media about coronavirus vaccine While anti-vaxxers flood social media with lies about the upcoming coronavirus vaccine — that it contains monkey brains, that it’s a CIA plot to take over the world — the government’s multi-billion-dollar vaccine effort has yet to come up with a public education campaign to counteract that propaganda. “We are behind here,” said Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health. “We haven’t done a good job of getting [coronavirus vaccine] information out there.” The stakes are high. A CNN poll in May found one-third of Americans said they would not try to get vaccinated against coronavirus, even if the vaccine is widely available and low cost. “Speaking for myself, I think I underestimated the level of public resistance,” Collins said. “I didn’t expect it to be that widespread.” A spokesman for “Operation Warp Speed,” the Trump administration’s effort to get a coronavirus vaccine on the market, said a public education campaign will “soon focus” on vaccine education. “We see more vaccine hesitancy with the Covid vaccine than with other vaccines. We know that. This concerns us, of course,” said Michael Caputo, an assistant secretary for the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Organic diets quickly reduce the amount of glyphosate in people’s bodies Eating an organic diet rapidly and significantly reduces exposure to glyphosate—the world’s most widely-used weed killer, which has been linked to cancer, hormone disruption and other harmful impacts, according to a new study. Authored by researchers at the Health Research Institute and the nonprofit organizations Commonweal Institute and Friends of the Earth, the study measured glyphosate and its main breakdown product, aminomethyl phosphonic acid (AMPA) in the urine of 16 people (seven adults and nine children) from four demographically and geographically diverse families. Researchers tested participants’ urine for glyphosate and AMPA over six days on a conventional diet, followed by six days on an all-organic diet, and found average reductions of more than 70 percent in both the adults and children. These reductions were achieved after just three days on the organic diet, which is in line with animal studies showing most glyphosate leaves the body after five to seven days, though a smaller amount remains in and is eliminated more slowly from bone and bone marrow.
Cannabidiol improves blood flow to brain’s hippocampus A single dose of cannabidiol (CBD) helped increase blood flow to the hippocampus, an important area of the brain associated with memory and emotion, finds a new study led by UCL researchers. Researchers say the findings could be an important discovery for conditions which affect memory, such as Alzheimer’s disease and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and could help better target therapies. In the study, published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, researchers set out to investigate how CBD influences cerebral blood flow in different regions on the brain involved in memory processing. Lead author, Dr. Michael Bloomfield (UCL Psychiatry) said: “Cannabidiol is one of the main constituents of cannabis and is gaining interest for its therapeutic potential. “There is evidence that CBD may help reduce symptoms of psychosis and anxiety. There is some evidence to suggest that CBD may improve memory function. “Additionally, CBD changes how the brain processes emotional memories, which could help to explain its reputed therapeutic effects in PTSD and other psychiatric disorders. However, the precise mechanisms underlying the effects of CBD on memory are unclear.”
Hour 2 – John Hewlett – Cardio Miracle
The discovery of the function of nitric oxide which won the Nobel Prize in medicine gave humanity hope to conquer the deadliest disease on the planet. Scientist would soon learn nitric oxide not only regulates blood pressure and increases blood flow, but plays a vital role on the whole body system. The goal to change lives one person at a time became Cardio Miracle’s clarion call. To do this the founder, John Hewlett, embarked on a five year journey to produce the world’s finest nitric oxide supplement. Cardio Miracle’s commitment to excellence resulted in the formulation of the most effective defense against heart disease and to provide the best natural pathway to produce nitric oxide in the body. Cardio Miracle was designed to give the body an instant jolt of nitric oxide and then sustain the nitric oxide boosting effects for a 12 hour period. The highest quality ingredients were selected before this formula was put through rigorous laboratory testing to ensure efficacy, quality and sustained delivery. The end result is the most synergistic blend of mostly organic, bioavailable active ingredients.
What is the role of nitric oxide in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)? Published findings from the 2004 SARS-CoV infection suggest the potential role of inhaled nitric oxide (iNO; Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, plc) as a supportive measure for treating infection in patients with pulmonary complications. Treatment with iNO reversed pulmonary hypertension, improved severe hypoxia, and shortened the length of ventilatory support compared with matched control patients with SARS. A phase 2 study of iNO is underway in patients with COVID-19 with the goal of preventing disease progression in those with severe ARDS. A phase 3 study (PULSE-CVD19-001) for iNO (INOpulse; Bellerophon Therapeutics) was accepted by the FDA in mid-March 2020 to evaluate efficacy and safety in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who require supplemental oxygen before the disease progresses to necessitate mechanical ventilation support
Vitamin D for COVID-19: a case to answer? (Lancet Diabetes Endocrinol 2020) Interest in a potential role for vitamin D in the prevention or treatment of acute respiratory infections dates back to the 1930s, when cod liver oil was investigated as a means to reduce industrial absenteeism due to the common cold. Meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials conducted from 2007–20 reveal protective effects of vitamin D against acute respiratory infections, albeit these effects wereof modest size and with substantial heterogeneity.1 The striking overlap between risk factors for severe COVID-19 and vitamin D deficiency, including obesity, older age, and Black or Asian ethnic origin, has led some researchers to hypothesise that vitamin D supplementation could hold promise as a preventive or therapeutic agent for COVID-19. From a mechanistic angle, there are good reasons to postulate that vitamin D favourably modulates host responses to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), both in the early viraemic and later hyperinflammatory phases of COVID-19. Vitamin D metabolites have long been known to support innate antiviral effector mechanisms, including induction of antimicrobial peptides and autophagy. Laboratory data relating to effects of vitamin D on host responses to SARS-CoV-2 specifically are scarce, but one study that screened four compound libraries for antiviral activity has reported an inhibitory effect of the active vitamin D metabolite 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (the steroid hormone and biologically active vitamin D metabolite) in human nasal epithelial cells infected with SARS-CoV-2.
Study reveals immune-system paralysis in severe COVID-19 cases A Stanford study shows that in severely ill COVID-19 patients, “first-responder” immune cells, which should react immediately to signs of viruses or bacteria in the body, instead respond sluggishly. Some people get really sick from COVID-19, and others don’t. Nobody knows why. Now, a study by investigators at the Stanford University of Medicine and other institutions has turned up immunological deviations and lapses that appear to spell the difference between severe and mild cases of COVID-19. That difference may stem from how our evolutionarily ancient innate immune system responds to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease. Found in all creatures from fruit flies to humans, the innate immune system rapidly senses viruses and other pathogens. As soon as it does, it launches an immediate though somewhat indiscriminate attack on them and mobilizes more precisely targeted, but slower-to-get-moving, “sharpshooter” cells belonging to a different branch of the body’s pathogen-defense forces, the adaptive immune system. “These findings reveal how the immune system goes awry during coronavirus infections, leading to severe disease, and point to potential therapeutic targets,” said Bali Pulendran, Ph.D., professor of pathology and of microbiology and immunology and the senior author of the study, which will be published Aug. 11 in Science. Lead authorship is shared by Stanford postdoctoral scholars Prabhu Arnunachalam, Ph.D., and Florian Wimmers, Ph.D.; and Chris Ka Pun Mok, Ph.D., and Mahen Perera, Ph.D., both assistant professors of public health laboratory sciences at the University of Hong Kong.
