Although her time in physical form has come to an end, my mom’s spirit will forever continue to live on. But for a soul as bright as Toni’s, it’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. How can we bring light back into the darkness that her absence will surely leave?
As she was getting her affairs in order, the topic of what to do with the house came up. For those of you who don’t know, we’ve always viewed the house as “Toni in house form”. It was designed for and by her, she used the space to it’s fullest capacities, and as such it has been forever imbued with her spirit.
After long discussions on what to do with the space, we have decided to transform it into a center for art, health, and education. The specifics have yet to be ironed out, but our vision is to offer daily classes to the local community. These classes will include African dance, yoga, cold water immersion, healthy cooking, pottery, meditation, coding, gardening,…the list goes on and on.
Toni always said that the secret to staying young and enjoying life to the fullest is to learn new things, and we hope to provide a space for the community to do that in a way that honors Toni’s values, hobbies, interests, and guiding principles. We also plan to host charitable events every so often to raise funds for local Evanston and Chicagoland nonprofits doing work that Toni would have supported.
The tentative name so far is the Toni Bark Memorial Foundation. I can’t think of a better way for myself, my family, Toni’s friends, and our community to band together and honor my Mom’s unrelenting dedication to spreading love, knowledge, and being a positive force in the world.
All donations you give here will go directly to creating the Toni Bark Memorial Foundation. We will need to hire nonprofit attorneys, pay state and federal incorporation fees, hire a manager, create a curriculum, and begin renovation to the space so that it can be a proper vehicle for our vision.
Ex-CDC head Tom Frieden says kids may be secret coronavirus carriers The ex-director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday that the deadly coronavirus may be “impossible” to contain — and that kids may be secret carriers of the disease. “We think it will be very difficult if not impossible to contain it … but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try,” Dr. Tom Frieden told reporters. Frieden, who ran the agency under President Barack Obama and was the New York City health commissioner under Mayor Mike Bloomberg, said the spread of the virus to more than 89,000 people across the world has been an “unprecedented situation.” “Never before have we seen a pathogen emerge and have global spread like this. That is scary,” Frieden said.
Up to 1 million people could be tested for coronavirus in the US by the end of the week, health officials say Up to 1 million people could be tested for coronavirus by the end of week, the FDA said, as cases across the US rose to more than 100 and health officials warned the number will keep climbing. Cases of the virus have now been reported in 12 states — the majority of them in California and Washington, where six people have died. About a quarter of the current cases were likely transmitted through US communities, officials have said, meaning they were not travel-related. “My concern is as the next week or two or three go by, we’re going to see a lot more community-related cases,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a news conference Monday. “That’s of great concern.”
China Study Puts Coronavirus Death Rate at 1.4%; Real Number May Be Lower The latest tally of almost 1,100 cases of COVID-19 infection from 30 Chinese provinces shows a fatality rate of 1.4% during the early phase of the outbreak. That’s much higher than the rate seen with the seasonal flu, where only about 0.1% of cases end in death. But it’s far below the mortality rate of recent coronavirus outbreaks like SARS (9 to 10%) or MERS (36%), noted Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Furthermore, the 1.4% figure cited in the new Chinese report, published Feb. 28 in the New England Journal of Medicine, is probably higher than the “real” death rate, Fauci added.
Questions of The Day!
Should a adult or child wear a N95 mask on a plane?? CDC states unnecessary for Americans to wear a mask however when in close quarters, does it still hold true?? Especially young kids? Would love your thoughts. 🙏🏽 -Purvi
I have a question regarding the IIS Immunization Information database. Have you heard of this? If so, can you talk about this and how and when it came about? Recently, I went to the doctor and was asked to sign a form called the IIS Immunization Information list. I was told that it gave other states the right to look up my immunization status in case I was hurt or injured. I found this explanation to be ridiculous because what does vaccination have to do with my getting hurt and needing medical care? Anyhow, I refused to sign the paper. Also, this incidence has opened my eyes to how the CDC is now creating a national database to track those who participate in vaccinations and those who do not. I am someone who does not participate any vaccination program. I am well aware of the dangers and outright lies about vaccines. If you could talk about this database on your show that would be great. Thank you.
There’s no evidence full-fat dairy is bad for kids, study says There’s little scientific evidence behind recommendations by US health organizations that kids should stop eating full-fat dairy after the age of two, according a new analysis of 29 peer-reviewed studies on the role of dairy and childhood obesity.”Taken as a whole, the limited literature in this field is not consistent with dietary guidelines recommending children consume preferably reduced-fat dairy products,” said lead author Therese O’Sullivan, a clinical dietitian at Edith Cowan University in Australia. Current guidelines (PDF) from the American Heart Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and other major US organizations only recommend whole milk and dairy for children aged 12 to 24 months. Australia (PDF) and the UK have similar guidelines. Diary is an important source of calcium and fat for children, and also provides important nutrients such as protein, iodine, riboflavin and Vitamin B12.

Interactions Between Alcohol and the Endocannabinoid System Endocannabinoids are lipid mediators that interact with the same cannabinoid receptors that recognize Δ9 -tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive constituent of marijuana, to induce similar effects in the brain and periphery. Alcohol and THC are both addictive substances whose acute use elicits rewarding effects that can lead to chronic and compulsive use via engaging similar signaling pathways in the brain. In the liver, both alcohol and endocannabinoids activate lipogenic gene expression leading to fatty liver disease. This review focuses on evidence accumulated over the last two decades to indicate that both the addictive neural effects of ethanol and its organ toxic effects in the liver and elsewhere are mediated, to a large extent, by endocannabinoids signaling via cannabinoid-1 receptors (CB1 R). The therapeutic potential of CB1 R blockade, globally or in peripheral tissues only is also discussed.

Your Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to CBD Oil In 2018, the Farm Bill removed CBD oil from the Controlled Substances Act Schedule 1 designation, allowing the sell and purchase of hemp CBD oil products. Since then, CBD oil has been a popular topic in the news, on social media and in conversation of the American population. Many myths and legends about CBD have been passed around the media, making it hard for people to learn the truth. That’s why we’ve created this ultimate guide to CBD for beginners. If you’ve been searching for answers to all your CBD questions, search no longer because this guide is for you. CBD Explained CBD is harvested from the hemp plant. You may have heard of hemp for its use in rope and fabric making and its connection to its infamous cousin: cannabis. Hemp’s relationship to cannabis gives it a false reputation. CBD is one of many cannabinoids, which are the active ingredients in both hemp and cannabis plants. While other cannabinoids, like THC, are illegal in the United States (except under certain state regulations) CBD is available to purchase and consume almost everywhere in the country. The most important thing to know is CBD is non-intoxicating. Here’s why: Cannabinoids work in your body through the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system consists of receptors, called CB1 and CB2. When activated, CB1 and CB2 are responsible for the “high” and the addictiveness commonly associated with cannabis. The cannabinoid-receptor interaction doesn’t just determine psychoactivity and addictiveness. The way CBD affects receptors throughout your body, giving beneficial contributions to your body.
