Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Cheryl Chumley is back to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
Dr. Anthony Fauci: ‘Independent Spirit’ in U.S. Has ‘Hurt Us’ During Pandemic Dr. Anthony Fauci complained Wednesday in an interview with the Washington Post that America’s tradition of individualism and freedom is making the coronavirus pandemic worse. The Washington Post asked Fauci if the spike in cases is the fault of America’s individualist tradition or President Donald Trump’s refusal to demand national mandates. Fauci replied that the “independent spirit in the United States of people not wanting to comply with public health measures has certainly hurt us a bit.” Fauci also complained about people who continue to treat the virus like a “hoax.” “There are people in various parts of the country who still believe that [coronavirus] is a hoax, that it’s fake — even when in their own state the hospitals have been overrun with patients in the hospital beds and in the intensive care unit,” Fauci said. Fauci pleaded for Americans not to gather for Christmas this year, noting that he and his wife are not hosting anyone during the pandemic, not even their adult children. “They are not going to come home … That’s painful. We don’t like that,” he said. “But that’s just one of the things you’re going to have to accept as we go through this unprecedented challenging time.”
Anthony Fauci the humanist demands stay-at-home for Christ’s birthday Dr. Anthony Fauci said in an interview with The Washington Post’s “Power Up” team that Christmas “cannot be business as usual” this year because of the coronavirus and that since he’s giving up his family gathering in the name of saving America, then all the other Americans out there should do so as well. Give up the Christmas get-togethers, he said. It’s for the greater good, he said. Once again, here comes the medical bureaucrat pulling the political strings to steal a cherished American right: that of free worship. Not all Americans, after all, are atheistic in bent like the good Dohktah Fauci, who confirmed to C-SPAN in 2015 that it was a “totally accurate” assessment that he considered himself a “humanist.” Some really see Christmas as a religious-based holiday; some really gather for celebration of Christ’s birthday. And that would make Christmas a religious freedom matter. But take out the Christ — as Fauci apparently does, and as so many on the secular side of America do — and Christmas get-togethers are still protected freedoms of assembly. In other words: Government has no right to impose restrictions — and is taking this coronavirus cause to extreme liberty and stretching the declared health emergencies for all their worth, for all their political power-grabbing worth.
Barack Obama, a boring boor who can’t stop condemning conservatives Former President Barack Obama said during an interview with Trevor Noah on “The Daily Show” that Republicans suck, the Republican Party sucks, all the Republicans in America suck, and that the only smart people in the nation, nay the world, are Democrats and progressives and progressive Democrats. Not in so many words, of course. But it was implied. What a boor. And a bore. This guy has nothing of substance to add to the national political discourse except to condemn conservatives and elevate leftists — all the while pretending like he’s not. All the while pretending like his viewpoints are based on well thought out analysis. All the while adopting a scholarly, “now, don’t you see” tone — a tone that suggests that those who don’t are to be pitied. Tut, tut, intelligence isn’t for everyone, after all. “They have certain built-in advantages around power given their population distribution and how our government works,” he went on. “But the truth of the matter is that 60 percent of the people are occupying what I would consider a more reality-based universe, and those are the constituents we’re speaking to and that is a more diverse group.” The 60 percent to which Obama referred are, of course, Democrats. He’s putting all conservatives in the same cast-off basket and labeling them deplorable. He also claimed it’s the Democrats, not Republicans, who are the “much more homogeneous” group. Let the headlines speak for themselves.
COVID-19 vaccine’s rocky U.K. start raises red flags on safety It was Day One of U.K.’s rollout of the much-ballyhooed coronavirus vaccine — and already people began reporting adverse reactions. That’s not just bad news. That’s oops, public relations’ devastation bad news. Anyhow, now the UK. government regulators are saying that people who have a “significant history” of allergic reactions to things like, umm, cats or Christmas trees or, oh, let’s see, maybe chemicals that are injected into their bodies that haven’t undergone testing for long-term effects — that maybe these people with these significant allergy-prone histories ought not stand in line for the Pfizer-BioNTech version. Good advice. Nothing like rising hospital counts to bring a halt to ye olde injection program, yes? After all, those hospital rooms are supposed to be reserved for coronavirus patients — not coronavirus vaccination patients. Regardless, the defenders of the rushed global coronavirus vaccine program are now coming out hard to defend the rushed global coronavirus vaccine program in the face of the unfortunately timed allergic reactions suffered by a couple of England’s early shot-takers. And they’re defending the rushed global coronavirus vaccine program by offering up the rather lame “we knew this was going to happen” line of defense. Seriously.
Socialists Don’t Sleep is about all the sneaky ways the secular left has pressed Socialism into American politics and life – AND WHY CHRISTIANS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN STOP IT!
“Socialists Don’t Sleep is one of those timely books that just points out the roots of what’s gone wrong in America, how we can get our country back on track to what founders envisioned and the Judeo-Christian community that holds the key to America’s long-term successes.” — Gov. Mike Huckabee, New York Times Bestselling author & Host of Huckabee
“Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — when it comes to socialism in America, these two aren’t the problem. Per se. They’re simply symptoms of the real problems that usher in Socialism: a dysfunctional entitlement-minded society, a propaganda-pushing school system, a decayed culture, a sieve-like border. As Cheryl Chumley points out in Socialists Don’t Sleep, we can’t root out socialism unless we first address the real problems.” — Michael Savage, New York Times Bestselling author & host of The Savage Nation
Socialists Don’t Sleep: Christians Must Rise or America Will Fall tells how America has gone from a country of rights coming from God – NOT government – to a country that embraces Socialism – where the US government is now expected to pretty much provide from cradle to the grave. Cheryl K. Chumley, an award-winning journalist and contributing editor to The Washington Times, explains how to return the country to its glory days of God-given, and why Christians, more than any other group, are best equipped to lead the way.
“What is it about the founding principles of America that the secular progressive left would make better? The answer is: Nothing. In her new book, Cheryl Chumley reminds us of those principles and calls on those who still believe in them to engage the failed policies and ideology of Socialism and atheism and to fight back.” — Cal Thomas, Nationally-syndicated Conservative Columnist
AOC says Pelosi needs to step down as speaker but insists she is not ‘ready’ to replace her New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that Democrats need to have a succession plan to replace House speaker Nancy Pelosi but she was not yet ready to step into that position herself. Ms Ocasio-Cortez said the House was too “extraordinarily complex” for her, while asserting that the Democratic Party needs new leadership. “I do think that we need new leadership in the Democratic Party,” Ms Ocasio-Cortez told The Intercept in an interview published on Wednesday. “It’s easy for someone to say, ‘Oh well, you know, why don’t you run?’ but the House is extraordinarily complex, and I’m not ready. It can’t be me. I know that I couldn’t do that job,” she said. The remarks from the progressive congresswoman came as the Democrats are locked in an internal feud over the broader issue of the disappointing performance in the 2020 congressional race. She said the party members who think Ms Pelosi is liberal don’t have “viable alternatives” to replace her “which is why whenever there’s a challenge, it kind of collapses.”
Twitter To Remove Or Place Warning Labels On COVID Vaccine Conspiracy Tweets Debunked claims about COVID-19 vaccinations will be swiftly removed from Twitter starting next week, the company announced on Wednesday. And moving into 2021, officials said, the company may start placing labels or warnings on messages containing “unsubstantiated rumors, disputed claims, as well as incomplete or out-of-context information about vaccines.” The forthcoming crackdowns come as countries around the world have begun delivering vaccine injections to health care workers and those most vulnerable to the disease. The new rules broaden Twitter’s existing practices requiring the removal of tweets that it says “advance harmful false or misleading narratives about COVID-19 vaccinations,” Twitter wrote in a blog post. Among the posts that will be flagged are those making false conspiracy claims suggesting immunizations and vaccines are used as tools to control or harm the population at large. Others alleging that the global coronavirus pandemic is made up and those that are dismissive of the gravity of the virus will also be taken down. Officials said Twitter will use a combination of technology and people who will be consulting with health experts around the world to enforce the changes on such posts.
Rand Paul claims election ‘in many ways was stolen’ during Krebs hearing Days after electors voted to make it official that Joe Biden is president-elect, and one day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) congratulated Biden on his victory, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said at a congressional hearing that the election “in many ways was stolen.””The fraud happened. The election in many ways was stolen and the only way it will be fixed is by in the future reinforcing the laws,” Paul said during a hearing with testimony from Christopher Krebs, the president’s former cybersecurity chief, who was fired by Trump after he reported there was no interference in the election. Paul made the remarks as Krebs, wearing a mask, looked on skeptically, his arms crossed in front of his chest. The remarks were notable because Paul is seen as one of the senators who might join a bid by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) to challenge the election’s outcome and overturn the results in several states, despite a series of court decisions that have rejected claims of widespread fraud as unsubstantiated. Doing so would disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters, and the Supreme Court, now dominated by conservative justices including three nominated to the court by President Trump, rejected a suit from the attorney general of Texas just last week to do so.

Alternative Therapy Plea May Be a Cry for Help Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often ask their physicians to support their use of complementary or alternative medicines (CAM), from yoga and acupuncture to sports protein supplements and fish oil. But Peter Higgins, MD, PhD, director of the IBD program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, warned attendees at the Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases 2020 Annual Meeting that although many forms of CAM can benefit patients, there may be underlying concerns and such a request may actually be a “cry for help.” It may mean that their evidence-based medications are not meeting their goals or patients want more control over their disease. It’s important to ask patients why they are using or want to use CAM, he said, whether specifically to treat IBD or to ease IBD symptoms. Cannabis use, for example, “is associated with worse disease prognosis in Crohn’s disease,” he said. Higgins pointed to a study of 313 IBD patients who found that regular use of cannabis for more than 6 months helped with symptom relief, but was a strong predictor of future surgery for Crohn’s disease, with a fivefold odds ratio. Higgins said some requests, such as just about anything related to exercise, massage, and acupuncture, make sense and he generally supports them in combination with evidence-based traditional therapies if they make a patient feel better and the person can afford them.
Do the benefits of Christmas outweigh its harms? The Christmas season is associated with preventable harms from cards, tree decorations, and presents, as well as overeating and overdrinking, so do the benefits of Christmas outweigh the harms? In the Christmas issue of The BMJ, Robin Ferner and Jeffrey Aronson dig out some cautionary tales from the archives. They find that Christmas cards can be a potential source of harm. In 1876 a young man developed arsenic poisoning after painting festive cards with the highly toxic Scheele’s Green paint. More recently, a woman amputated her finger tip while posting Christmas cards through the spring-loaded flap of a letter box. Injuries from falls while decking the house with Christmas lights are common—and a reminder not to get on ladders—they may tip when you’re tipsy. Items swallowed unintentionally can also pose problems, they write. Bulbs from Christmas lights, sharp pointed confetti stars, and Christmas tree shaped decorations, have all found their way down toddlers’ throats and have had to be removed.
