Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is here to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
FDA warns companies selling illegal, unapproved kratom products marketed for opioid cessation, pain treatment and other medical uses The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued warning letters to three marketers and distributors of kratom products – Front Range Kratom of Aurora, Colorado; Kratom Spot of Irvine, California and Revibe, Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri – for illegally selling unapproved kratom-containing drug products with unproven claims about their ability to help in the treatment of opioid addiction and withdrawal. The companies also make claims about treating pain, as well as other medical conditions like lowering blood pressure, treating cancer and reducing neuron damage caused by strokes.
Congress Follows the Leaders, Passes Right to Try After Years of State Action The U.S. House gave final approval to federal Right to Try law that will allow terminally ill patients to access investigational treatments that have not received final FDA approval. Passage of this bill was a direct result of action that started in the states five years ago. The U.S. Senate passed the Right to Try Act of 2017 nine months ago. After stalling for months, the House finally approved the measure Tuesday by a 250-169 vote. Pres. Trump is expected to sign the bill into law. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prohibits general access to experimental drugs. However, under the expanded access provision of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, 21 U.S.C. 360bbb, patients with serious or immediately life-threatening diseases may access experimental drugs after receiving express FDA approval. RIght to Try allows terminally ill patients to bypass the expanded access provision and obtain experimental drugs from manufacturers without first obtaining FDA approval.
Restore the Republic As the nation drowns in a sea of debt and over-regulation and as government offers no clear solutions, constitutional lawyer Jonathan Emord presents a bold plan to restore the republic. Drawing from law, history, and economics, Emord explains that each obstacle to power and arbitrary will that the Founding Fathers placed in the Constitution has been abandoned, transforming the limited federal republic defined by the Constitution (protective of individual liberty and sovereignty) into an unlimited bureaucratic oligarchy antithetical to the Constitution. It is that transformation which created the seeds that have grown into limitless government, corruption, regulation of all aspects of life, destruction of free enterprise, planned economies, and a deprivation of economic and civil liberty. Having identified precisely why and how the United States has lost its foundational principles and its rights basis, Emord then charts a bold course to resurrect power limiting doctrines, eliminate excess government, and restore individual sovereignty and liberty. Indeed, Emord offers a detailed plan for deregulating markets and weaning Americans from entitlements (including Social Security and Medicare), without leaving dependents destitute. In his foreword, Ron Paul describes Restore the Republic as “. . . an invaluable explanation of how constitutional bulwarks against big government were eroded-and how we can rebuild them,” concluding that the book is “highly recommended” for all “interested in regaining our lost liberties and restoring our republic.”
The Rise of Tyranny Since the 1930s the Congress has delegated legislative, executive, and judicial powers to over 200 independent regulatory commissions. Those agencies enact over ninety percent of all federal law. They are ruled by individuals who are unelected and largely unaccountable to the Courts and Congress. Repeatedly they pursue their own self-interest at the expense of life and health. Often the agencies become captives of the industry they regulate, as in the case of the FDA (captive to the pharmaceutical industry) because it is in the economic self interest of those who run the agency to obtain lucrative post government employment form the key industries regulated. The result is widespread corruption, biased and perverse enforcement of the law, and anti-competitive regulation.
Hour 2 – Food Can Be Your Best Friend or Worst Enemy!
No amount of alcohol, sausage or bacon is safe according to cancer experts No amount of alcohol, sausage or bacon is safe according to a new global blueprint on how to beat cancer. Even small amounts of processed meats and booze increase the risk of a host of cancers outlined in World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) guidelines updated every decade. The respected global authority has unveiled a 10-point plan to cut your risk of getting cancer by up to 40%. Brits have been told to banish favourites such as ham, burgers and hot dogs from their diets by experts who say they are a direct cause of bowel cancer. Processed meats also cause people to be overweight which can trigger many more cancers. But UK experts have disagreed with the draconian advice insisting the odd bacon sandwich “isn’t anything to worry about”.
Top 20 Addictive Foods: Are You Hooked? Can’t resist a slice – or two or three – of pizza? You may well be addicted. Researchers from the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan and the New York Obesity Research Center at the Mount Sinai – St. Luke’s Hospital in New York wanted to know what foods felt addictive to real people. They posited that highly processed foods may trigger an addictive response in some people that leads to unintended overeating. And they observed that these foods share common traits with highly addictive drugs. Like other drug problems, they say, “food addiction” is characterized by:
- Loss of control over consumption;
- Continued use despite negative consequences; and
- Inability to cut down despite the desire to do so.
And neuro-imaging studies show similar brain patterns in “food addicts” and drug addicts. In particular both show increased activation of the reward regions of the brain in response to food cues – just like other addictions.

I have always been committed to my fitness, but not always in the most healthful ways. I felt like I could out-work any bad food choice or drink and I believed exercising excessively would make me stronger and more fit. I thought being a vegetarian meant eating pretzels and cheese with some lettuce on the side. I thought depriving myself of food to lose a few pounds was the way to shed inches. I thought going to the doctor when I was sick to get a good old anti-biotic was the thing to do (not so much). By the time my second child entered our lives, learning healthier alternatives began to become more important to me. I ventured to find every home remedy and kitchen cure-all in order to avoid a trip to the doctor’s office. I got really good at “managing” our health so it was quite the blow when my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and I didn’t have the “cure-all” at my fingertips. As I dug deeper into my research on what cancer REALLY is, the myths, what fuels it and what fixes it, our lives were drastically changed, forever. The information I found along my Dad’s way was life altering for my entire family. Frequently, I would find myself thinking – WHY is this information not mainstream? Why is it taking so much effort to find options and true paths to health and well-being? Cancer (and most dis-ease) is 85-95% environment and LIFESTYLE, leaving genetics only to contribute between 5-15%. A healthy life must be the result of a healthy lifestyle. It just didn’t seem logical that (only) incorporating drugs and radiation as his treatment plan were the answers to obtaining health, why weren’t integrative measures being offered? Why was it so hard to find information…answers…options? (Read More HERE)
