Thursday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
Sacred Fire of Liberty!
It’s that time of the week where we get to explore the political healing that this country needs so desperately! Jonathan Emord is here to help us dissect the latest political news that’s fit to print:
18 House Republicans nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize A group of 18 House Republicans has formally nominated President Trumpfor the Nobel Peace Prize. In a letter sent Wednesday to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, the lawmakers tapped Trump for the highly coveted prize for his efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and end the 68-year-old war between North and South Korea. “Since taking office, President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons program and bring peace to the region,” the letter, led by Rep. Luke Messer (R-Ind.), reads. “His Administration successfully united the international community, including China, to impose one of the most successful international sanctions regimes in history.”
Israel and Iran on Path to War as Mideast Tinderbox Awaits Spark There have been coups and revolutions, external invasions and proxy conflicts, but the Middle East hasn’t seen a head-to-head war between major regional powers since the 1980s. There’s a growing risk that one is about to break out in Syria, pitting Israel against Iran. The Islamic Republic’s forces are entrenching there, after joining the fight to prop up President Bashar al-Assad. The Jewish state, perceiving a direct threat on its border, is subjecting them to an escalating barrage of airstrikes. Nobody expects those strikes to go unanswered. The path to escalation is clear, and the rhetoric is apocalyptic. “We will demolish every site where we see an Iranian attempt to position itself,’’ Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman told the London-based Saudi newspaper Elaph, adding that the Iranian regime is “living its final days.’’
Plan to split California into 3 states may qualify for ballot Californians may get to vote on a plan to split the state into three smaller states this November. Venture capitalist Tim Draper, who previously pushed a proposal that would split California into six states, says that his three-state proposal has enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. CAL 3 would begin the process to divide California into “Northern California,” “Southern California,” and just plain “California.” “Northern California” would include all of the counties north of Merced County, and “California” would consist of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and San Benito counties. The remaining counties would be part of “Southern California.” On Thursday, Draper said in a statement that the “CAL 3” initiative has collected over 600,000 signatures from Californians who would like to see the state split into three. An initiative needs 366,000 signatures to appear on the ballot.
Legalised cannabis could help solve America’s opioid crisis, studies suggest Legalised cannabis use may help solve America’s opioid crisis, two scientific studies have suggested. Two separate peer-reviewed studies in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine found significant drops in opioid prescribing in US states that had relaxed their cannabis laws. Both studies appear to offer insights into possible ways to solve a crisis that saw 17,087 people die from prescription opioid overdoes in the US in 2016. The crisis has its origins in soaring prescription rates after a new generation of opioids were marketed in the 1980s and 1990s with inaccurate claims that they could alleviate chronic pain with minimal risk of addiction. The new research was accompanied by an opinion piece in JAMA Internal Medicinewhich said both studies produced “results suggesting that cannabis legalisation may play a beneficial role in the opioid crisis”. In the first study, researchers at the University of Georgia, Athens, looked at Medicare Part D prescriptions for people over the age of 65 between 2010 and 2015.
Hour 2 – What’s Up With Those Chiropractors?
The Big Divide: Why Chiropractors Oppose Vaccinations While Medical Doctors Embrace Them There exists a divide between practicing chiropractors and physicians regarding their views on vaccinations. Chiropractors often oppose the practice of vaccinations, understanding the body’s intrinsic ability to heal from illness, and how vaccinations interfere with this process. By contrast, medical doctors are trained in medical schools and hospitals, largely funded by pharmaceutical companies’ dollars. Allopathic physicians are highly indoctrinated on the importance of vaccinations to prevent disease and illness, while receiving little to no knowledge on vaccine dangers and their negative impact on health. Which argument makes more sense? Was the human body made to intrinsically heal and stay healthy if given good nutrition and environmental support? Were humans made lacking in the toxic cocktail ingredients found in vaccines needed to create artificial antibodies to fight illness?
Is There A Loneliness Epidemic?
New Cigna Study Reveals Loneliness at Epidemic Levels in America Today, global health service company Cigna (NYSE: CI) released results from a national survey exploring the impact of loneliness in the United States. The survey, conducted in partnership with market research firm, Ipsos, revealed that most American adults are considered lonely. The evaluation of loneliness was measured by a score of 43 or higher on the UCLA Loneliness Scale, a 20-item questionnaire developed to assess subjective feelings of loneliness, as well as social isolation. The UCLA Loneliness Scale is a frequently referenced and acknowledged academic measure used to gauge loneliness. The survey also revealed several important bright spots. The findings reinforce the social nature of humans and the importance of having communities. People who are less lonely are more likely to have regular, meaningful, in-person interactions; are in good overall physical and mental health; have achieved balance in daily activities; and are employed and have good relationships with their coworkers
Yeah Bernie….Great Idea…NOT
Socialist America: Nearly half of Americans favor government-guaranteed jobs for everyone In recent days openly socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. announced he would propose legislation that would guarantee a taxpayer-supported government job to anyone who needed or wanted one. As reported by The National Sentinel: Seems Bernie thinks everyone ought to have a government job, and ought to make at least $15 an hour doing it. No word yet on how Bernie would pay for this boondoggle other than “taxing the wealthy” — who, presumably, will continue working at whatever it is they do rather than taking a Bernie-supplied government gig. As of this writing, Sanders’ office still hadn’t announced the full plan — including the most important aspect, how to pay for it. It’s bad enough that government workers, on average, earn nearly 80 percent more than private-sector workers. But according to a new survey from Rasmussen Reports, almost half the country supports Sanders’ inherently unworkable scheme. “Senator Bernie Sanders is looking ahead to the 2020 presidential election with a proposed federal government program that guarantees all Americans a job with health insurance. Nearly half of voters like the idea,” Rasmussen notes, adding that fully 46 percent of respondents supported the idea (even before they know any of the details or what kind of damage such a program would cause to our economy and our society).
Fricken Laser Beams On Your…Eyeballs?
NEW CONTACT LENS COULD LET YOU SHOOT LASERS FROM YOUR EYES Researchers have developed an ultrathin and flexible membrane, less than a thousandth of a millimeter thick, that can be placed onto a contact lens, enabling the wearer to essentially shoot lasers from their eyes. The membrane, which was developed by scientists from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, is made from an organic semiconducting polymer—a broad class of materials that consist of many repeated chains of molecular units. It emits very low-powered laser light when illuminated by another laser. Each membrane is able to produce a unique “barcode”—a well-defined series of laser beams in the form of sharp lines. This could have applications in identification technology as a kind of wearable security tag, according to the researchers.
