Trump Gets Tough On Drug Dealers, But Which Ones?

By Trump’s Logic On Death Penalty For Drug Dealers, Big Pharma Should Be First On
Thursday someone with ties to the Trump administration leaked information which indicates the president plans to execute drug dealers in an attempt to curb the national overdose death crisis. But absent from the president’s yet-unannounced policy is any accountability directed toward the billion-dollar pharmaceutical pain-killer industry largely responsible for the nearly 60,000 yearly overdose deaths which have surpassed 200,000 since 1999. If it’s true the president plans to apply the death penalty for street-level heroin dealers, the same punitive measure, logically, should be applied to the pharma-cartel as well. To clarify, the Free Thought Project is not advocating for the death penalty for anyone. Government violence has not and never will be able to stop the sale and use of substances deemed illegal by the State. However, by this logic, the producers of pharmaceutical opioids are culpable under this alleged penalty. Rest assured, however, that they will undoubtedly be excluded from it due to their elite status and influence in the government.

Drug Loses Patent…. Find A New Use….

A small, daily dose of Viagra may reduce colorectal cancer risk A small, daily dose of Viagra significantly reduces colorectal cancer risk in an animal model that is genetically predetermined to have the third leading cause of cancer death, scientists report. Viagra cut in half the formation of polyps, an abnormal and often asymptomatic clump of cells on the lining of the intestines that may become , says Dr. Darren D. Browning, cancer researcher at the Georgia Cancer Center and Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.

Georgia Fights For Freedom

Georgia Bill Would Expand Healthcare Freedom A bill introduced in the Georgia
House would help facilitate healthcare freedom outside of government insurance regulatory schemes. Rep. Sam Teasley (R-Marietta) introduced House Bill 1051 (HB1051) on March 12. The legislation specifies that direct primary care agreements (sometimes called medical retainer agreements) do not constitute insurance, thereby freeing doctors and patients from the onerous requirements and regulations under the state insurance code. The bill stipulates that physicians offering, marketing, selling, or entering into a direct primary care agreement shall not be required to obtain a certificate of authority or license other than to maintain a current license to practice medicine with the State of Georgia.

Gut Check Time!

Commonly used drugs affect gut bacteria One in four drugs with human targets inhibit the growth of bacteria in the human gut. These drugs cause antibiotic-like side-effects and may promote antibiotic resistance, EMBL researchers report in Nature on March 19. The research team screened over 1000 marketed drugs against 40 representative bacteria from the , and found that more than a quarter of the non-antibiotics (250 out of 923) affect the growth of at least one species in the . EMBL group leaders Peer Bork, Kiran Patil, Nassos Typas, and Georg Zeller led the work.

Could it be your gut keeping you awake at night? When we lie awake at night, unable to sleep, we
usually blame stress, depression, anxiety, adrenaline or the memory of something stupid we said in 2003. But what if our guts were actually the culprit? What if the trillions of microbes sitting in our small intestines – known collectively as the microbiome or microbiota – were actually affecting our mood, digestion, overall health and ability to get a full eight hours’ shut-eye? Scientists are beginning to suspect there is a strong, if as yet unproven, link between gut health – the diversity and wellbeing of bacteria in the stomach, small and large intestines – and sleep health.

Germany Gets It….

German City Sets An Example By Providing Organic Food To First Graders  When it comes to making the organic food industry successful, Nuremberg, Germany, is a shining example of what is possible. One of the city’s initiatives is to gift first-graders with yellow lunchboxes filled with organic food on their first day of school, reports German broadcaster DW. The city refills the box daily as part of an initiative to increase the amount of organic food offered in public institutions.  The Nuremberg initiative extends beyond public schools. It includes nursing homes, daycare centers, correctional facilities, and city administrative offices. The efforts are part of the city’s Organic Metropolis Nuremberg project, which runs many outreach programs to promote organic food producers and farmers.

Hour 2 – Advanced Medicine with Dr. Rashid Buttar!

Dr. Buttar is back to talk about what’s happening in the world of health news. Here’s what we have in store for you today:

Astronaut’s gene expression no longer same as his identical twin, NASA finds Spending a year in space not only changes your outlook, it transforms your gene expression. Preliminary results from NASA’s Twins Study reveal that 7% of astronaut Scott Kelly’s genetic expression — how his genes function within cells — did not return to baseline after his return to Earth two years ago. The study looks at what happened to Kelly before, during and after he spent one year aboard the International Space Station through an extensive comparison with his identical twin, Mark, who remained on Earth

The myth behind adrenal fatigue Do you feel extremely tired, have body aches or experience sleep disturbances? A simple internet search of these symptoms might bring up a condition called adrenal fatigue. However, Baylor College of Medicine’s Dr. Ruchi Gaba warns against taking this term at face value and explains what might really be going on when you experience these symptoms. “The adrenal glands are small triangular shaped glands located on the top of the kidneys. They are responsible for producing hormones like aldosterone, , adrenaline and small amounts of sex hormones that help regulate the metabolism, pressure and stress response of the body,” said Gaba, assistant professor of medicine in the section of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Baylor.

‘Fit Sick’ – The New Term For People Who Look Healthy, But Feel Terrible We normally assume that when people are a healthy weight and seem to live an active lifestyle, they are getting all of the health benefits that are promised from doing this. It is generally assumed that athletes feel full of energy all the time, and don’t suffer from a lot of the mood and sleep issues that exercise is generally thought to help with, too. However, some doctors are concerned that there is a new phenomenon called being ‘fit sick’, where people appear to be doing all of the right things and look healthy on the outside, but actually feel far less healthy in general. In most cases, it is the healthy diet and the exercise a person is doing that actually cause them to feel unwell. This is not to say that people do not generally feel better when they are doing these things, or that it is better not to do them, but that people who are embarking on these kinds of lifestyle changes need to do them carefully rather than over-stressing their bodies. Many people with high activity levels are actually deficient in important nutrients or have hormone imbalances due to the way their bodies have an increased demand for things their diet doesn’t provide. Equally, people who stick to very rigid diets, either for weight loss in general or because they need to support things like bodybuilding, can be lacking in vital vitamins and minerals, as well as having issues with their gut bacteria.

Journalists’ “Shots” Sometimes Miss Their Mark Journalism is supposed to be free of political and personal agendas. However, we see news media frequently using pejoratives to label critics of industry/government policy. What purpose does this serve? It certainly doesn’t qualify as fair and unbiased reporting. Marginalizing and demeaning the critics cannot settle any issue; if anything, it’s an unethical means to enable political agendas. One of the most common recent trends is the derogatory use of the term “anti-vaccine.” Now, if I were to voice harsh criticism of Toyota’s handling of their stuck accelerator problems a few years ago, that wouldn’t make me “anti-accelerator,” “anti-car,” or even “anti-Toyota.”  Remember,  Toyota initially denied there were problems with its accelerators; their owninvestigation showed no evidence of stuck accelerators, they suggestedthe drivers were to blame—and, after years of denial and a $1.2 million fine, they finally admitted they had misled customers and issued 3 related recalls.

Question of The Day!

Hi Robert Scott Bell, my question of the day would be for you and Dr. Buttar.
My name is Beth and I’m 67 years old and am in very good general health. I contracted AML a year ago, took my rounds of chemo and maintenance and went into remission. My leukemia returned recently after only three months. I am now looking at another round of chemo to go back into remission and then have a bone marrow transplant with the corresponding dangers. What would you suggest I do or add to this regiment to help me fight this?
