Friday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:

‘Definitely not an anti-vaxer’: Some parents push back against recommended vaccine schedule When Elyse Imamura’s son was an infant, she and her husband, Robert, chose to spread out his vaccinations at a more gradual pace than the official schedule recommended. “I was thinking, ‘OK, we’re going to do this,'” says Imamura, 39, of Torrance, Calif. “‘But we’re going to do it slower so your body gets acclimated and doesn’t face six different things all of a sudden.'” Seven years later, Imamura says her son is a “very healthy,” active boy who loves to play sports. But delaying vaccines is risky. Many pediatricians will tell you a more gradual approach to vaccinations is better than no vaccinations at all, but they offer some hard advice to parents who are considering it. “Every day you are eligible to get a vaccine that you don’t get one, the chance of an invasive disease remains,” says Dr. Charles Golden, executive medical director of the Primary Care Network at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

A Witch Hunt Against Parents of Unvaccinated Children We are witness to an orchestrated frenzy that has been revved-up by vaccine stakeholders – i.e., those who have a direct or indirect financial stake in vaccines– through the corporate / academic institutions that employ them. Their unified objective is to achieve maximum utilization of vaccines, and total compliance with vaccination schedules set by the government in collaboration with vaccine manufacturers. Contrary to the barrage of “fake news” promulgated by government public health officials and the media to influence public opinion, the fact is, most childhood infectious disease “outbreaks” include both vaccinated and unvaccinated children. What’s more, when the infection has been tested, vaccine strain has often been identified as the cause of infection. In 2015, a “measles outbreak” in California’s Disney Land garnered nationwide front page publicity and dire warnings by public health officials and vaccine “authorities”. They generated high public anxiety. This fear mongering led to the demonization of unvaccinated children, who were perceived as the spreaders of disease.

In 1985, Dr. Hooker earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering, from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, California. He earned his Masters of Science degree in 1988 and his doctorate in 1990, both in biochemical engineering, from Washington State University, in Pullman, Washington.

Brian Hooker has many accomplishments to his credit including: co-inventor for five patents, recipient of the Battelle Entrepreneurial Award in 2001, and a Federal Laboratory Consortium Recognition Award in 1999, for his work on “Reactive Transport in 3-Dimensions.” The breadth of Hooker’s 60 science and engineering papers have been published in internationally recognized, peer reviewed journals.

He has a teenage son with autism and has been active in the autism community since 2002.

Controversial vaccine bill passed out of committee, devastating those opposed A legislative proposal that would ban nonmedical exemptions for required vaccinations passed out of committee on a party line vote Thursday, the committee’s seven Democrats voting in favor. It was a small step. But for some, it was an omen of a foregone conclusion. Amber Sims had tears running down her face as she left the hearing room following the vote. She moved to Oregon from California in 2015 after a similar bill was passed there. Now, she doesn’t know what to do, she said. The proposal, House Bill 3063, moves to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means where it will be looked at due to a provision that would require the Oregon Health Authority to launch an outreach campaign on vaccinations. If passed out of that committee, it would still need to survive votes in the House and Senate and be signed into law by Gov. Kate Brown, who supports the proposal.

A Scientist’s Danish Cohort Study Rebuttal The MMR vaccine study recently published by Hviid et al. (2019, Annals ofInternal Medicine) entitled, “Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccination and Autism: A Nationwide Cohort Study,” leaves many more serious questions than definitive answers. The authors claim that their work, “strongly supports that MMR vaccination does not increase the risk for autism, does not trigger autism in susceptible children, and is not associated with clustering of autism cases after vaccination.” This is an extremely broad claim that unfortunately is not supported by the evidence they present. There are eight fundamental flaws in the research study that lead to questions about the accuracy of the conclusions. It should be noted that three of the study authors are currently employed at the Statens Serum Institut which is a for-profit vaccine manufacturer in Denmark.  In addition, this work was funded by a grant from the Novo Nordisk foundation. Novo Nordisk is a Danish multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer. These are two serious conflicts of interest.

Investing In CBD Stocks Offers Opportunity But Risks Cannabidiol (CBD) has taken off lately, and the recent passage of the Farm Act in December has accelerated interest in the cannabinoid found in cannabis plants that was also the active ingredient in the first FDA approved drug derived from botanical cannabis, GW Pharmaceuticals’s Epidiolex, which is indicated for the treatment of seizures in treatment-resistant forms of two types of epilepsy, Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Products containing CBD are becoming increasingly available in a variety of formats and through an increasing number of venues, with consumers able to access products derived from industrial hemp through mail order, convenience stores, health food stores, some restaurants and coffee shops and now even malls. CBD is also sold through state-regulated medical cannabis programs or in states where cannabis is legal for adult-use and can be derived from plants that fall outside the definition of industrial hemp, with THC levels above 0.3% of the weight.

Considering CBD For Muscle Recovery? Here’s What You Need To Know Cannabidiol is having a moment. Though you may not recognize its scientific moniker, you’ve probably seen it referred to by its buzzy nickname: CBD. CBD is everywhere these days, and in a variety of forms. You can find it in capsules, gummies, tinctures, oils, balms, cocktails, cookies—even coffee sold at small-town bakeries. Its market share in the health and wellness space will likely only continue to grow, with some analysts estimating its value will hit $2 billion by 2022. CBD has a lot of purported benefits with a lot of anecdotal (and some scientific) evidence to back those claims. Everything from helping cancer patients fight nausea, to acting as a sleep aid for people with insomnia, to reducing seizures in children with a severe form of epilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome. While those seem like potentially huge breakthroughs, CBD is also said to help with smaller stuff, like helping you recover faster from workouts thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. Before you dive into a pool of CBD oil, here’s everything you need to know.

Survey finds nearly 7% already using cannabidiol Nearly 7 percent of Americans are already using cannabidiol (CBD), placing the potential market opportunity for the much-hyped cannabis compound at $16 billion by 2025, according to a new analysis by Cowen & Co. Cowen’s January consumer survey of approximately 2,500 adults found 6.9 percent of respondents use CBD as a supplement. “This initial response piqued our interest considerably, as it was much higher than we would have suspected,” and compared to 4.2 percent who reported use of Juul Labs Inc.’s e-cigarette devices and 19.6 percent who consider themselves current tobacco users, analyst Vivien Azer said in a note. Based on this surprising level of consumer awareness, Cowen “conservatively” sees CBD use growing to 10 percent of U.S. adults or 25 million consumers by 2025, implying a $16 billion market opportunity, Azer said. Although CBD is promoted as an effective treatment for everything from arthritis to insomnia, the only clinically proven remedy is as a treatment for two rare forms of childhood epilepsy.

Amazing 1930’s Pharmacist Map of Herbal Cures Released To Public Plant-based medicinal cures have been around far longer than we can imagine. Back in the day, we had synergistic relationships with these plants, such that we understood them, their uses, and how to utilize them for curing and/or healing various ailments. In fact, most of the pharmaceuticals you see on the shelf today are derived from plants themselves. There’s a reason why 25 percent of the active ingredients in cancer drugs are found only in the Amazon. With that being said, only about 10 percent of plants in the Amazon rainforest have been studied for their medicinal properties – and perhaps it should be kept that way. The practice of searching out medicinal cures in the Amazon (when we have our own local plants to provide similar curing potential) is highly destructive, not only to the plants, but to the Indigenous peoples who live there.
