Sunday on The Robert Scott Bell Show:
America’s Largest Retailer Sued For Selling Fake Medicine The United States largest retailer has been sued for medical fraud. In a lawsuit filed in the District of Columbia, the Center forInquiry (CFI) alleges that Walmart is, “committing wide-scale consumer fraud and endangering the health of its customers though its sale and marketing of homeopathic medicines.” This is similar to a 2018 suit that the same nonprofit brought against CVS, the largest drug retailer in the U.S. Nick Little, CFI’s Vice President and General Counsel contends that, “Walmart sells homeopathics right alongside real medicines, in the same sections in its stores, under the same signs. Searches on its website for cold and flu remedies or teething products for infants yield pages full of homeopathic junk products. It’s an incredible betrayal of customers’ trust and an abuse of Walmart’s titanic retail power.”

Concerns over exaggerated health claims prompt FDA hearing on effects of CBD products Cannabis-related products have flooded the market, making health claims about pain relief, immune function and anxiety and depression. But the US Food and Drug Administration says there is little known about how effective they are. On Friday, the FDA held its first hearing to assess the safety and efficacy of CBD products. In opening the hearing Dr. Ned Sharpless, acting commissioner of the FDA, said despite the widespread use of such products “critical questions remain about the safety” of these items. Products touting CBD and THC — two of the active ingredients in cannabis — can be found in foods, dietary supplements, and even cosmetics. “While we have seen an explosion of interest in products containing CBD, there is still much that we don’t know,” said Sharpless. CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is the ingredient in marijuana and hemp touted to have many medicinal benefits. It’s different from tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the main psychoactive component of cannabis. Sharpless pointed out that prior to the passage of last year’s farm bill, which removed hemp as a controlled substance, much of the research into cannabis looked at the plant as a whole, rather than specific components like CBD.
Purdue Pharma accused of ‘corrupting’ WHO to boost global opioid sales Purdue Pharma, the drug manufacturer that kickstarted the US opioid epidemic, corruptly influenced the World Health Organization in order to boost painkiller sales across the globe, according to a report by members of Congress. An investigation by Katherine Clark and Hal Rogers, who represent districts in Massachusetts and Kentucky hard hit by the US opioid epidemic, accuses Purdue of replicating its false marketing claims about the safety and effectiveness of opioids to change WHO prescribing guidelines in an attempt to expand foreign markets for its drugs. “The web of influence we uncovered paints a picture of a public health organization that has been corrupted by the opioid industry,” said Clark. “The WHO appears to be lending the opioid industry its voice and credibility, and as a result, a trusted public health organization is trafficking dangerous misinformation that could lead to a global opioid epidemic.” The report, called Corrupting Influence. Purdue and the WHO, accuses Purdue of using pharma-funded organisations and specialists to influence the writing of WHO policy to encourage much wider prescribing of addictive high-strength opioids across the globe. It said that, as a result, “WHO guidelines are serving as marketing materials for Purdue”. Clark and Rogers plan to deliver their report to the WHO on Wednesday morning after the organization failed to respond to a letter from a dozen members of Congress two years ago warning that Purdue and Mundipharma International, a UK-based network of global companies owned by members of the Sackler family, which owns Purdue Pharma, were pushing to boost opioid sales globally.
Pertussis Vaccine Failure: Children Receiving Vaccine Have 15x More Risk of Contracting Whooping Cough than Unvaccinated Children This is the latest peer reviewed science – not “vaccine misinformation.” These studies show that the Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine has now failed. Worse, children receiving the vaccine have 15x the risk of contracting Pertussis than unvaccinated children. This is why California schools are now suffering a Pertussis outbreak (3,455 cases in 2018 compared to 14 Measles cases) affecting only vaccinated children. Moreover, vaccinated children are often asymptotic carriers spreading the disease among their classmates. On the rare occasions that unvaccinated children contract Pertussis, they know they have the disease and stay home. Therefore children vaccinated with the DTaP vaccine are more likely to both get the disease and to spread it. With mandates legislation sweeping across the nation, the stakes are too high for citizens to tolerate laziness, scientific illiteracy and a default to collegiality in our elected leaders. It’s time for lawmakers to fact-check their sources.
Healthy fat hidden in dirt may fend off anxiety disorders Thirty years after scientists coined the term “hygiene hypothesis” to suggest that increased exposure to microorganisms could benefit health, University of Colorado Boulder researchers have identified an anti-inflammatory fat in a soil-dwelling bacterium that may be responsible. The discovery, published Monday in the journal Psychopharmacology, may at least partly explain how the bacterium, Mycobacterium vaccae, quells stress-related disorders. It also brings the researchers one step closer to developing a microbe-based “stress vaccine.” “We think there is a special sauce driving the protective effects in this bacterium, and this fat is one of the main ingredients in that special sauce,” said senior author and Integrative Physiology Professor Christopher Lowry. British scientist David Strachan first proposed the controversial “hygiene hypothesis” in 1989, suggesting that in our modern, sterile world, lack of exposure to microorganisms in childhood was leading to impaired immune systems and higher rates of allergies and asthma.
Question of The Day!
Hello Dr Bell, I live in Australia and can find very little help (alternative) for my father who has metastasised urothelial cancer in his lungs. He is 84 years young and refuses to let this be the end. I have taken him to a naturopath however they can only tow the usual lines of what the government allows so he is taking high dose turmeric, mushroom supplements and is on a no sugar/wheat/processed food diet….loads of natural foods, juices etc. He has always been incredibly healthy – low fat, sugar/carbs all my adult life. We saw your interview on Truth About Cancer and a week ago I received the Sovereign Silver in the mail – he is taking this via nebuliser every day. My question is… what should we expect to see in terms of affects from the silver, (he recently had a chest cold – unsure if the silver was affecting it) how soon can it take affect, are there any side effects to be aware of, and how frequently should he take the silver? Any help is greatly appreciated as we have little money and access to true integrative/alternative treatments here. with kindness, Kristine
Anti-vaxxers circulate photo of Bronx assemblyman fighting to strengthen state vaccine laws, claim he’s flipping them off Anti-vaxxers are flipping out over a photo they say shows Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz giving them the finger. Activists circulated the pic around the State Capitol Thursday as they called on lawmakers to oppose a measure that would strengthen the state’s vaccination laws amid an ongoing measles outbreak. Rita Palma, the founder of a group called My Kids, My Choice, said a group of inoculation averse families were protesting outside of a Manhattan press conference held by Dinowitz and state Sen. Brad Hoylman (D-) on Tuesday when the the Bronx Democrat flipped them the bird. “I’m terribly disappointed and disgusted that an elected official would behave in such a way to disparage people who were standing up for the rights of themselves and their children,” Palma told the Daily News after distributing copies of the pic to Dinowitz’s colleagues in the capital. Darla Shine, the wife of White House communications chief Bill Shine, tweeted out the photo earlier in the week.
