We’re All Unvaxxed No one on the planet is vaccinated against COVID. No one. Those who received a shot (or two or three or four) are not vaccinated against COVID in the traditional – and accurate – sense of the word. Polio vaccine – you won’t get polio. Tetanus vaccine – you won’t get tetanus. COVID vaccine – you can get – and spread – COVID. In other words, not to be crass but if the polio vaccine worked like the COVID vaccine – not preventing, just lessening the severity – millions of people would be walking around with a limp. So exactly why were people fired, mocked, ostracized, restricted, segregated, shamed, blamed, and named for being exactly like everyone else – unvaccinated against COVID? Looking specifically at the particularly severe California pandemic regulations, the vaccine mandates alone cost thousands their jobs, created a political firestorm, and contributed to school closures that decimated the educational achievement and the social development of millions of children. And what did this accomplish? Not very much, if anything at all. The pandemic response also placed medical professionals in the crosshairs, with the passage of a bill (now on hold) that placed a doctor’s license at risk if they spread COVID “misinformation” to a patient.  Misinformation like this, it seems – if you go to this October, 2021 news item you will find the phrase “And overwhelmingly, workers have accepted and even embraced the science showing vaccines protect not only you but those around you.”

Trust in public health agencies during COVID-19 driven by beliefs that agencies led with science-based recommendations In the first nationally representative survey of U.S. adults on reasons for trust in federal, state, and local public health agencies’ information during the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and colleagues found that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was highly trusted for information by more than one-third of U.S. adults, whereas state and local health departments were highly trusted by about one-quarter. An additional 37-51% of adults trusted these public health agencies somewhat, and less than 10% reported no trust at all in these agencies for health information. High levels of trust were not primarily due to people believing agencies had “done a good job” controlling the spread of COVID-19, but rather to public beliefs that agencies communicated clear, science-based recommendations and provided protective resources, such as tests and vaccines. The survey found that lower levels of trust were primarily related to beliefs that health recommendations were influenced by politics or corporations, or were conflicting. “Trust in public health agencies is crucial for enabling effective policies that save lives during emergencies,” said lead author Dr. Gillian SteelFisher, principal research scientist in the Department of Health Policy and Management and director of global polling at the Harvard Opinion Research Program. “Emergency programs have been underfunded for decades, but these data make clear how important it is to ensure public health agencies have appropriate stockpiles, have authority to make decisions based on scientific information, and have a stronger communication infrastructure.”

Study: Some parents lied about COVID-19 status of children About a quarter of U.S. parents lied about their children’s health status throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in order to avoid public health restrictions that were intended to fight the virus by keeping sick kids home from school, according to a study released Monday. About 25.9% of the parents that participated in the study reported misrepresentation or nonadherence in at least one of seven categories related to reporting their childrens’ health related to COVID-19, the survey titled “Public Health Parental Nonadherence to Health Policy Recommendations for Prevention of COVID-19 Transmission Among Children” found. “These results suggest that some [public health measures] implemented to limit the spread of COVID-19 may have been compromised due to misrepresentation and nonadherence by parents on behalf of their children, contributing to COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality,” the study, which appeared in Monday’s issue of JAMA Network Open said. The survey asked parents if they had ever engaged in specific “misrepresentation and non-adherence behaviors,” and presented the participants with generalized multiple-choice answers to explain the reasons for their actions, including “I would have to miss work,” or “my child would miss school.”
