It’s World Cancer Day!
Are We Winning the War on Cancer? Today is World Cancer Day. According to the 2008 World Cancer Declaration, the primary goal of the global observance is to help raise people’s awareness of cancer and to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer by 2020. So, how have we been doing so far? According to estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, there were 14.1 million new cancer cases in 2012 worldwide, and by 2030, the global burden is expected to grow to 21.7 million new cancer cases.

Remember When Watching The Super Bowl Was About… Football?
Super Bowl controversies to talk about with your kids For a fun family-and-friends event, the Super Bowl sure generates a lot of controversy: the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” of 2004, Tom Brady’s deflate-gate, and that scary, depressing Nationwide Insurance “dead kid” ad that had parents all over the country covering their kids’ eyes. This year, with brewing disputes about protesting the national anthem, football and concussions, player arrests, and accusations of sexual harassment, the Big Game promises to bring up serious issues that aren’t necessarily age-appropriate for the show’s youngest viewers.
Hour 2 – Yeah…We Predicted This…
Sen. Markey: Spend $1B to develop universal flu vaccine U.S. Sen. Edward Markey is calling on
the country to spend $1 billion to develop a universal flu vaccine. The Massachusetts Democrat said the deadly flu season shows the need for a better vaccine. Markey called for the increased spending during a press conference Friday at Massachusetts General Hospital, which has seen 10 deaths and 150 hospitalizations related to the flu this season. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report released Friday confirmed that the flu season continues to intensify.
Will This Threaten Americans – Or Help Them?
Cuts to CDC epidemic programs will endanger Americans, former chief says The former
chief of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the decision to cut 80% of its epidemic prevention activities overseas could pose a grave danger to the United States because it “would significantly increase the chance an epidemic will spread without our knowledge and endanger lives in our country and around the world.” The CDC informed personnel in the past two weeks that it was discontinuing its work in 39 out of 49 countries where its Center for Global Health helps prevent, detect and respond to dangerous infectious disease threats, such as Ebola and the Zika virus. The agency said it was forced to make the decision because it doesn’t expect any new funding for the programs.
Question of The Day!
Hello Robert – I absolutely love when Chris Barr is on your show as I always learn so many incredible things. When you guys are just talking about something that’s even off subject , he’ll say something that I have to jump up and rewind to listen to and say OMG that’s incredible information. Your program makes me feel positive about my health challenges. I now believe that nothing is really a death sentence if you realize that your body is a healing machine that just needs to be fueled correctly. My question is to you is does chris barr have a practice where he sees people or does he do phone consults? You guys are such a gift and I appreciate you and your fellow health freedom warriors.
Much love, Lori
Comment of The Day!
Can you please splane to me why hospitals and rest homes do not serve diabetic meals and snacks to their inmates, even if the reason for incarceration is diabetes? I have been told it is easier to use insulin to control the blood sugar level then to feed them correctly. In the tradition of Col. Potter, I call horse hockey! It’s easier to not put the sugar in then to take it out. And let’s not forget the fine selection of candies available to one and all as you walk into the facilities. I’m thinking, (till it hurts my brain) the kind gentle hand of government is involved here. For the monies paid there is no reason why the inmates can’t be feed correctly, or is there?
Because We Don’t Have Enough Holidays Already….
Americans want the day after Super Bowl to be a holiday One in four Americans (24 percent) say the day after the Super Bowl should be declared a national holiday, according to new research. A study into Super Bowl viewing and snacking habits of 2,000 Americans found many of them feel passionately that they should be able to rest up the day after sporting celebrations. The survey by Jack Link’s Protein Snacks found that one in six Americans are even considering taking a sick day on the Monday after the game. Results showed food will play a central role in this year’s festivities, with the average party host planning to spend $61 on snacks alone.
