Can We Be More Aware?
International Overdose Awareness Day International Overdose Awareness Day was initiated in 2001 by Sally J Finn at The Salvation Army in St Kilda, Melbourne. Since 2001, many community members as well as government and non-government organisations have held events to raise awareness and commemorate those who have been lost to drug overdose. Since 2012, International Overdose Awareness Day has been coordinated by the not-for-profit Australian public health organisation Penington Institute.
Prince family files wrongful death lawsuit More than two years after Prince’s death, the family of the late musician is suing the doctor that prescribed the painkiller Percocet to Prince in a new civil lawsuit. Prince, whose full name was Prince Rogers Nelson, died of an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2016 after taking counterfeit Vicodin pills that were laced with fentanyl, according to the Carver County Attorney’s Office, which decided in April not to file any criminal charges. In a lawsuit obtained by CNN, Prince family attorney Michael Zimmer identifies six of Prince’s brothers and sisters as plaintiffs suing defendants Iowa Health System, UnityPoint Health, Walgreens, North Memorial Healthcare and Minnesota physician Dr. Michael Schulenberg. The wrongful death civil lawsuit was filed in Hennepin County District Court Friday morning.
‘I have no quality of life’: Opioid laws have unintended effects, says chronic pain patient Chronic pain patients say they’re being overlooked in the opioid crisis. Because of the crackdown on opioid prescriptions, those who depend on the painkillers say their quality of life has declined. Beginning July 1, Tennessee enacted one of the most strict and aggressive opioid policies in the nation. Over the objections of the Tennessee Medical Association, the state began limiting initial opioid prescriptions. As a result, those with chronic pain say there are unintended consequences in acquiring effective pain management because of the law. It’s painful for Steve Glass to get out of a chair. The former roofer, who now lives at his father’s house in Knoxville, says people with chronic pain are paying the price of those who abused opioids. Disabled for 27 years, following a series of back surgeries, Glass has chronic, constant pain which he says affects him physically, psychologically and emotionally.
Even Low Levels of Toxic Metals Put Heart at Risk Exposure to toxic metals such as arsenic, lead, copper and cadmium is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular and heart disease, researchers report. Their analysis of 37 studies that included nearly 350,000 people linked arsenic exposure to a 23 percent increased risk of coronary heart diseaseand a 30 percent increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Exposure to cadmium and copper was linked to an increased risk of both diseases. Exposure to lead and cadmium was associated with an increased risk of stroke — it was 63 percent higher for lead and 72 percent higher for cadmium, respectively. The study findings were published Aug. 29 in the BMJ.

WHY RUSSIA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH VACCINE DEBATE Multiple corporate media outlets have latched onto a recent study published in the American Journal of Public Health. The study claims to give evidence that Russian trolls are “eroding public consensus on vaccination.” The BBC reported, “The researchers reviewed more than 250 tweets about vaccination from accounts linked to the St Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency (IRA).” From those 250 tweets David Broniatowski, the study’s lead author, went on to make some sweeping statements concluding “A significant portion of the online discourse about vaccines may be generated by malicious actors with a range of hidden agendas,” The Washington Times writes, “The vast majority of vaccine-related tweets analyzed in the study came from users that couldn’t conclusively be categorized as people, cyborgs or bots by a tool called “Botometer.” Those actors might be people who really believe vaccines are dangerous, trolls trying to exploit the controversial topic to deepen divisions in American society, or bots using controversy as clickbait.” So if you are someone who believes “vaccines are dangerous,” the “Botometer” may have labeled you as a Russian troll.
Hour 2 – Special Guest – Jon Rappoport!
Jon Rappoport has worked as a free-lance investigative reporter for over 30 years. He is the author of three explosive collections, THE MATRIX REVEALED, EXIT FROM THE MATRIX, and POWER OUTSIDE THE MATRIX. He has written articles on politics, health, media, culture and art for LA Weekly, Spin Magazine, Stern, Village Voice, Nexus, CBS Healthwatch, and other newspapers and magazines in the US and Europe. How many people are on psychiatric drugs? “Antidepressants are neurotoxic, that is, they harm the brain and disrupt its functions. As a result, they cause innumerable kinds of abnormal thinking and behaviors, including mania, suicide and violence. In the process, they cause detectable damage to the brain of the child or adult, and also to the fetus of pregnant mothers who take the drug.” (Peter Breggin, MD and psychiatrist, author of Toxic Psychiatry, St. Martin’s Press) “I keep telling people all over the world that there are no reliable lab tests for diagnosing ANY so-called mental disorder. I explain this in great detail. Of course, for many people, this is too much to handle. They run away. What is my strategy for dealing with this? I keep finding new ways to tell them the truth. I don’t stop. That’s what an actual reporter does.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)
Why medically caused deaths continue to be ignored More than any other reporter, I have continued to champion and spread the word about Dr. Barbara Starfield’s revelation: The US medical system kills 106,000 people a year with its medicines. Extrapolate that number for a decade: more than MILLION DEATHS. I have reported, many times, on Starfield’s review, “Is US Health Really the Best in the World,” published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on July 26, 2000. I interviewed her in 2009, when she told me that her death numbers (106,000 per year) were conservative, and that the federal government was doing NOTHING comprehensive to fix the ongoing disaster. Imagine that, coming from a doctor who was a revered public health expert at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Since I’ve written more articles about Dr. Starfield’s revelations than any reporter around, I also know the reaction of the mainstream press over the years: SILENCE. And more silence. And more. So this time, I thought I’d explain the main reasons for the silence. On one obvious level, it stems from the fact that the pharmaceutical industry buys enormous amounts of ads on and around news media. Do not bite the hand that feeds you.
Here’s why it took nearly 30 years for experts to realize these medications could cause cancer Many people have been concerned about the recent recall of several medications. The Food and Drug Administration said one of the recent ones could put you at risk of getting cancer. It’s a high blood pressure medication that’s being recalled by pharmacists across the country. 11Alive’s Ron Jones explains why it took almost three decades for the government to discover the danger. Sharon Kroll, a pharmacist for Concord Pharmacy, has been in the business for 35 years. She said if you have a certain kind of generic high blood pressure medication, you could be at risk of getting cancer. “The more intake that someone has the more they’re likely to get cancer,” she said.
FDA Recall Issued After A ‘Potentially Life-Threatening’ Mix-Up Of Blood Pressure Medication The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recalled a specific lot of high blood pressure medication this week after a potentially life-threatening drug mix-up. The pharmaceutical company Accord Healthcare Inc. voluntarily recalled one lot of the high blood pressure medication hydrochlorothiazide after a bottle was tainted with another medication called spironolactone. Spironolactone can treat a range of ailments, including congestive heart failure and cirrhosis of the liver. It can also treat high blood pressure, but it can have an adverse effect on some individuals, the FDA said in a statement. After an investigation, the pharmaceutical company determined that just one lot of the drug, labeled PW05264, should be recalled. “Based on findings of both preliminary and interim investigations carried out at the manufacturing site, Accord believes that no other lots of Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets are involved in this mix-up,” the FDA said.
This Seems Legit…
Woolly mammoths may rise from the dead as Russia plans to clone them at Jurassic Park-style centre usingIce Age DNA WOOLLY mammoths could soon rise from the dead thanks to plans to clone them using Ice Age DNA at a Jurassic Park-style centre. Incredible plans for the new “world class paleo-genetic scientific centre” in the Russian city of Yakutsk will be unveiled next month when Vladimir Putin hosts a major investment forum. The cloning laboratories – some sunk deep in the permafrost soil – aim to extend research by Russian scientists who are already working closely with South Korean specialists hoping to restore extinct species. Yakutsk is capital of diamond-rich Sakha Republic, also known as Yakutia, where 80 per cent of finds of samples of Pleistocene and Holocene animals with preserved soft tissues have been made. The scheme of the new centre will be unveiled at the 4th Eastern Economic Forum hosted by Putin opening on 11 September in Vladivostok. It will “aim to study extinct animals from living cells – and to restore such creatures as the woolly mammoth, woolly rhinoceros, cave lion and breeds of long-gone horses”, reported The Siberian Times.
