“Super Size Me” liver damage claim crumbles as Morgan Spurlock revealed to have abused alcohol fordecades It’s not often that you’ll find a Natural News writer defending McDonald’s. After all, we’ve been calling them out for their toxic junk food for years now. Spurlock became an overnight success with his film which showed the (apparently) devastating results of eating nothing but McDonald’s for 30 days, three times a day. Having consumed around 5,000 calories a day for the duration of the experiment, Spurlock gained 24 pounds and his body mass index increased by a staggering 13 percent. He also claims to have experienced mood swings, sexual dysfunction and – this is where it gets tricky – damage to his liver. He was also noticeably shaky (trembling) after the 30 days.

They also showed reduced traits of aging, such as mounting insulin resistance, inflammation and oxidative stress. “Probiotics dramatically change the architecture of the gut microbiota, not only in its composition but also in respect to how the foods that we eat are metabolized,” says Satya Prakash, professor of biomedical engineering in McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and senior author of the study. “This allows a single  formulation to simultaneously act on several biochemical signaling pathways to elicit broad beneficial physiological effects, and explains why the single formulation we present in this paper has such a dramatic effect on so many different markers”.

According to scientists in Australia, the human body has a “second brain” in its rear end and it may be smarter than we think. A study published in the journal JNeurosci says that the gastrointestinal tract contains millions of neurons, which independently control muscle movement in the colon. “These findings identify a previously unknown pattern of neuronal activity in the peripheral nervous system,” Prof. Nick Spencer from Flinders University in Australia said in a press release. “Until this new study no one had any idea exactly how large populations of neurons in the ENS lead to contraction of the intestine,” he added, via Science Alert. Researchers discovered that the neurons in the digestive system fire in synchronized blasts, which propel waste out of the body. This is the same way neurons in the brain fire as they send signals throughout the body.
